More than three hundred years ago, Jiu Fang Chang Le died in an accident at the age of eighteen.
He died on September 13th.
But now, Chang Le sees the date displayed on the large screen at the school gate: September 14th.
Turning around, Huanbo, weary from his journey, Mei Shishi, sobbing, and Song Xinglin, with red eyes, all stood vividly before him.
The four of them returned alive.
The trajectory of fate has been altered.
Despite surviving the ordeal, Chang Le couldn't smile. She wanted to say something but couldn't open her mouth, only gripping Fu Guang's shoulders tightly. Fu Guang thought she was scared and gently patted her back to comfort her.
They went straight home. Chang Le paused for a moment when he saw Wei Linshu anxiously waiting for them at the door.
Wei Linshu quickly walked over, checked her over, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she found that she was not injured.
Jiu Fanggui's face was somber. He exchanged a glance with Qi Qi, then told Fu Guang to take Chang Le to rest before turning and leaving.
Fu Guang carried the overly silent Chang Le back to her room, placed her on the bed, pulled out a cushion for her, and then sat down beside her. Chang Le immediately leaned her head against him, and Fu Guang opened his arms to let her rest her head against his chest, looking down at her face.
Chang Le pressed her forehead against Fu Guang's chest. Through the firm muscles, the steady, powerful heartbeat vibrated between her brows, resonating with her own heart. After a while, she finally raised her head and reached out to pull Fu Guang's hand, which was hanging off the edge of the bed.
Fu Guang had a messy wound on his palm, with tiny fragments of blood diamond still embedded in the clotted blood. Chang Le's heart ached: "I'm sorry for making you worry..."
What stopped her from finishing was a wet, passionate kiss.
Chang Le tilted her head back in response to his strength. His large hands, which were hot, held her waist and head, and the tender affection on his lips burned even more intensely. At first, it was a response; then it was the relief of surviving a disaster; and finally, it was a boiling, selfless love.
Only when their bodies were completely nestled in the burning embrace did Fu Guang loosen his grip, slowly allowing Chang Le to calm her breathing and emotions. They slowly separated, their foreheads touching. Their warm breaths mingled, and this time, even life and death could not stop them.
"Don't leave me, my darling, don't leave me." Fu Guang's voice was as sweet as honey, full of tenderness. As he spoke, he gently kissed her forehead, the corners of her eyes, and her palms. Finally, he pulled her into his arms again, nestled against her neck, reluctant to part.
Chang Le opened her mouth, hesitated, and then reached out to hug him tightly, her voice breaking: "You can't leave me..."
Fu Guang stiffened for a moment, then released her, placed his hand on her shoulder, and looked into her eyes, asking, "Besides being attacked by aliens, what else happened?"
Chang Le was stunned and didn't know how to answer for a moment.
Fu Guang pressed him sternly, "Why did you suddenly change your mind halfway through the journey, even at the cost of jumping out of the car to take Huanbo and the other two off and take a detour back?"
"And..." Fu Guang's pupils trembled slightly as he reached out and gently stroked the girl's cold cheek, "Why did you look at me with the eyes of someone you've never seen before when I woke up from my coma?"
"Why are you afraid I'll leave you? Has something happened to me? Did you 'see' it?"
Chang Le snapped back to her senses, but it was too late to cover his mouth.
The next moment, Fu Guang, who had asked the question, stiffened, suddenly closed his eyes, and fell backward.
"don't want!!"
Chang Le screamed and tried to grab it, but missed. When she looked up again, the familiar, maddening water mirror starry river had appeared before her eyes.
There was no Jiufanggui, no ancient building, no big tree, only the endless abyss of space and a water mirror-like starry river suspended in mid-air beneath my feet.
Chang Le gritted his teeth, enduring until his body trembled, then suddenly knelt down in a disheveled state, slamming his fists heavily onto the Water Mirror Star River:
Why did I have to come back here?!
"I've already gone through all of this! I've already found the best ending!! Why do I have to start all over again?!"
Chang Le sobbed in anguish and helplessness, her tears floating in the abyss like shattered fragments of stars:
"Why……
Do you want me to go back to the first time?
...
Returning to the turning point of all misfortune, Chang Le led Huan Bo and the other two to get off the bus early, thus avoiding the accident that happened when he was eighteen.
This is Chang Le's first experience of a reincarnation restart.
...
Let's turn back time to that unfinished ending.
—Chang Le found that gift at the end of the Milky Way.
He said it was a gift, and also a choice.
A big tree in the left hand, a seed in the right.
The left hand is the end, the right hand is starting over.
"I want to try." Chang Le grabbed the seed.
"Good luck."
His lingering echoes scattered across the endless galaxy, blurring and then disappearing the distant scenery. The mysterious and peculiar mist slowly dissipated, revealing the dark, boundless universe. Only the mirror-like galaxy beneath his feet shone ever brighter.
Chang Le gently stroked the stars beneath her feet.
The birth and fading of each star is the entire process of a world's life and death, a cycle of reincarnation.
Chang Le touched one of them, and a faint light engulfed her.
She saw countless fragments of memories flying everywhere, a tangled and chaotic jumble of memories that made it difficult for her to discern where to begin.
After much deliberation, she chose the starting point of all her misfortunes.
...
Chang Le was awakened by Ying Shaochuan's voice.
Ying Shaochuan, who boarded the bus later, chose to sit in the seat in front of her. His voice, which was talking to the person next to him, woke Chang Le. Their eyes met, and Ying Shaochuan was about to say something with a face full of apology.
Chang Le paused for a second in shock and disbelief, then quickly pieced together the whole story of what happened, before standing up and shouting, "Stop the car! I want to get out!"
Those who had boarded the bus and those who hadn't boarded yet were all stunned.
