All around, the wails of humans and non-humans echoed, seemingly right beside my ears, yet also seemingly reaching into the far reaches of the earth.
"Hmm..."
The wailing was agonizing, and there were also things that looked like little devils or skeletons that would pounce on her and gnaw at her flesh from time to time.
Her legs seemed to be so painful that she couldn't feel them anymore.
Oh, it's the little devil, he's gnawed on a bone.
But she was still able to walk forward.
Keep walking forward...
What's ahead?
Or, does she have a future ahead?
I don't know, I don't know what's ahead, I don't know why I'm walking, I don't know who I am, I don't know what I'm supposed to do...
Just walking. Walking, even if you look like a skeleton, even if you're all white bones, it's still... living.
She can't stop.
"Well!"
A sudden, sharp pain shot through her heart, and her body went limp as she collapsed to the ground, blood dripping onto her hands.
She looked down in a daze and realized that her legs were nothing but bare bones. No wonder it hurt so much.
She looked at her palm and suddenly froze.
Something seems to be missing here. A familiar touch of green is missing.
She seemed to suddenly realize something, and her body began to tremble violently. She covered her head tightly, curled up, and was completely enveloped by extreme terror.
"Don't kill me! Don't kill me! Don't kill me..."
"Help me, help me, help me..."
"No...no! I want to die, I want to die! Let me die!"
She suddenly reached out, only to grasp at empty air.
She looked down and saw towering buildings.
Right below her, the pitch-black night swallowed the towering height.
"Death is not scary."
"Yes, it's not scary... It's a relief, a reunion."
She slowly crawled toward the edge of the tall building—her legs could no longer support her.
Her knees, chest, and abdomen tentatively extended beyond the rooftop.
Just one step away.
"You little madman!"
The man's suppressed anger stopped her from reaching out.
She slowly turned her head, but before she could see clearly, a pair of arms pulled her into a hug and lifted her up.
She leaned against his chest, stunned, and was surprised to find that new flesh and blood had grown on her legs.
"grass!"
The man suddenly cursed, lowered his head, and viciously rubbed his stubble-covered chin against her cheek, his tone harsh:
"You're the one who's crazy! Huh? Do you have to drive me crazy too?"
"Are you trying to scare me to death? Huh?"
She froze, suddenly realizing a wave of panic washing over her. Instinctively, she quickly grabbed his long hair, a brilliant, glassy gold.
"Who...who are you?"
Only when she reached the exit did she realize that her voice was hoarse.
She used his arm to prop herself up and asked pleadingly, "Who am I?"
Then, she seemed to hear a long, helpless sigh beside her, followed by the man's patient voice:
"Chang Le, you are Lele, my little madwoman."
Chang Le...
Chang Le?!
"Snap!"
The surrounding scenery suddenly shattered like glass, along with the person holding her.
She fell to the ground, the warmth of the person at her fingertips dissipating, her long golden hair slipping through her fingers like sand, impossible to grasp.
She fell to the ground, her legs turning back into bones, and she opened her mouth, screaming in agony.
I can't explain why, I can't describe the feeling, it's just extreme discomfort, extreme disgust, and extreme anxiety.
"Chang Le".
A cool, clear voice suddenly fell into my ear.
She lifted her tear-streaked, terrified face and saw a cold, aloof figure emerging from the shadows.
The figure gently enveloped her from behind, with utmost tenderness:
"Give yourself to me, I will never let you be sad again, I will protect you forever and never leave you."
"Give yourself to me, okay?"
"Chang Le".
Chang Le?
Oh right, that seems to be her name.
She suddenly smiled, a radiant smile like dazzling fireworks.
She leaned against that aloof figure in her arms and said with a smile, "Okay."
The figure behind her gently embraced her and spoke softly:
"Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid."
"You should laugh, and always be happy, never cry."
Hua Changle slowly closed her eyes, letting powerful energy surge forth from the hidden corners of her body.
