Chapter 596 Li Yunfan's Cover; Encountering Hao Ren; Crossing the Sea

“No, no,” the technician said, avoiding eye contact. “It could be from outside, or it could be the ability of someone else who entered the simulation field.”

Li Yunfan glanced at Qin Ling, his eyes flickering slightly, and said to him, "Old Qin, do you remember what I told you about Chang Le being attacked?"

Qin Ling's lips twitched down, and the creases between his brows deepened: "Hmm, so you mean interference too?"

“Yes,” Li Yunfan said. “These three days of assessment are the last chance for the people behind this to make their move. If this interference is an experiment by the people behind this, then it makes sense.”

Qinling remained silent.

Li Yunfan went out to relieve himself.

After confirming that no one was nearby, he connected to a communication device: "Brother Wei."

On the other end, Wei Kunyu, the head of the Wei family, spoke: "What is it, Old Li?"

"Qinling is indeed suspicious of Chang Le. Brother, your niece is quite a handful. She probably knows we're watching and is deliberately creating a mystery to arouse Qinling's suspicion. Although I can help cover for her from the sidelines, if she insists on exposing herself, I can't stop her."

"Active exposure?"

Li Yunfan nodded: "I don't even know what method they used to interfere with the system, and they didn't do it on purpose? They were practically showing off their skills to us openly!"

Wei Kunyu pondered for a moment and said, "You should still help cover for them. If they do anything out of control, tell me immediately."

“I know, but…” Li Yunfan lowered his voice, “can she really…do she do it?”

Wei Kunyu sighed: "Old Li, don't ask about this. Once she comes out of the Mysterious Creation Realm safely and gets something crucial, everything will be clear."

Li Yunfan frowned deeply: "Brother Wei, give me a straight answer, will this time... be the same as the time with the Dragon Emperor?"

"No," Wei Kunyu replied decisively.

“The ideas of this generation of young people are completely different from those of us old folks.”

Wei Kunyu smiled bitterly: "They each have their own chosen path, and they act with sharp edges, unlike us mild-mannered old folks."

“Gu Yujing and the others are not us, and Chang Le is not Shen Fuguang.”

"We lost a Dragon Emperor back then, and we must not repeat the same mistake this time."

Li Yunfan sighed softly, "I understand. I'll keep an eye on Qinling. Ever since Ying Huaixia's incident, the Qin family's obsession with integration has only deepened. I'm afraid something might go wrong."

Wei Kunyu said, "Old Gu and the others were prepared for this long ago, so there's no need to worry too much."

After hanging up, Li Yunfan returned to the control room.

On the screen, Chang Le encountered Hao Ren in the western desert of the southern island.

...

Desert beetles swarmed in, densely covering the desert, a sight that sent chills down one's spine. Chang Le dared not linger in battle; seeing that the beetles were not his target, he immediately followed the map and fled towards a nearby lake.

This desert beetle is highly territorial and will not stray too far from its nest.

The desert is a dead land. The howling wind sweeps across the boundless, unshielded expanse, sounding like a death knell, chilling the heart. The wind grows stronger and more turbid.

Chang Le covered his mouth and nose, squinted, and looked into the distance. The yellowish-brown sky in the distance was getting closer and closer!

Sandstorm!

Chang Le tore off his coat and tied it to his face, looking for a place to hide.

Just then, a figure came running from in front of the sandbag. Chang Le looked closely and saw that it was Hao Ren!

Hao Ren rushed over and pulled her into a group of weathered rocks.

The two covered their mouths and noses, using their bodies to create space, and the external energy expanded outward to ensure there was a place to breathe and that they would not be completely buried.

Fortunately, the sandstorm didn't last too long, and thanks to their strong mental fortitude, they managed to stay calm and get through it.

Hao Ren gently moved the backpack on top of him, and sand and dirt tumbled down.

Based on the direction and flow of the falling sand, Hao Ren determined the general condition of the sand above and gestured to Chang Le, indicating that she could go up from there.

Hao Ren used his backpack for support, and Chang Le flicked out vines to push them away in the direction Hao Ren indicated.

The two men, covered in dust, crawled out of the sand and stood on the rocks that were not completely submerged.

"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!" Chang Le spat out several mouthfuls of sand.

After all this time, every breath I took in a lot of sand.

Chang Le turned her head and was surprised to find Hao Ren taking several steps back, looking at her with a forced smile.

"What are you doing?" Chang Le blinked. "I'm not going to kill you."

Hao Ren breathed a sigh of relief and walked back: "Okay, I'm relieved to hear you say that, Chang Le."

Chang Le was both amused and exasperated: "You should know better than me. Although the rules this time allow mutual attacks, the situation is completely different from that endurance training session."

Killing other examinees provides no advantage to you, nor does it allow you to collect their items or points; it's essentially a waste of effort.

"Instead of wasting time killing the examiners three times, we should focus our energy on finding the items. After all, there are forty different items in total, and it's simply impossible for one person to find them all."

“Brother Hao Ren, you’re smart, and I’m a bit strong. This desert is fraught with danger. Why don’t we cooperate for now and travel together for a while?” Chang Le offered an olive branch.

Hao Ren laughed and said, "Of course! I couldn't be happier! I'm not good at fighting, leaving me alone in this old ruin is practically a death sentence. Chang Le, if you're willing to lend me a hand, I promise I won't hold you back."

The two then proceeded together.

Having someone to look after each other does make things a little easier, and at the same time, you can talk to each other, so it doesn't feel like the days are dragging on forever.

"Chang Le, after you cross the Southern Continent, where will you go next?"
