On their way to the border between District 9 and District 1, Chang Le, Chen Wusui, and Chen Wu heard the cry of the cuckoo echoing in their minds once again.
"Less than two hours after Qin Shaoji appeared at the Qin family, a single, crucial pill was stolen from Laboratory No. 1 of the Nuwa Base Research Institute. An investigation confirmed that Qin Shaoji was responsible. The regional authorities informed us that, based on the secret location on the pill, Qin Shaoji is currently heading from Hua'an City towards the Ninth District. The Wolf Faction is prepared to assist in intercepting him."
"The key point is that the pill is about fusion, and it was obtained from the god-making faction."
Chang Le and his two companions boarded a Dragon Faction aircraft and flew directly to the designated location provided by the regional headquarters via a private route.
Just as they entered Wolf Pack airspace, Luo Xuan sent another message.
This is Qin Shaoji's location, indicating he is about to arrive at Dingde City, the northernmost city in Zone 1. Furthermore, the location path and speed detection show that Qin Shaoji's speed is starting to decrease, suggesting he has already reached his destination.
"Why Dingde City?" Chang Le wondered.
Neither Chen Wusui nor Chen Wu could understand it.
Although Dingde City is located on the border of District 1 and District 9, it has a very weak presence and is not particularly eye-catching except for occasional friction between the two districts. Although it has some resource reserves, there are no high-tech weapon bases, research laboratories, or communication towers there, so there doesn't seem to be anything that Qin Shaoji would specifically choose.
Filled with doubt, the three quickly flew to Dingde City.
Chang Le and Chen Wusui, carrying Chen Wu who was unable to fly, entered Dingde City directly from the aircraft.
Chang Le still uses Fu Jiu's appearance.
Not long after the three entered the city, they discovered that the Yan Hui Pagoda in the city center was sealed off, and they knew that Qin Shaoji was there.
Once there, I was allowed to enter after showing my ID.
"Mr. Fu Jiu, right?" Familiar faces, including Jing Yuyan, the leader of the Wolf Sect's War Wolf Path, and Sui Yunmu, greeted them.
Chang Le pretended to be normal with Fu Jiu, giving a slight nod without reaching out.
Jing Yuyan raised an eyebrow, not taking offense at the rude behavior, and said, "The people in charge of the pursuit in District One are Ying Xuanxu and Shen Xiu from the Ying family. They have already been surrounded."
Before anyone could be asked where they were, several different and powerful energies collided, creating a strong gust of wind.
Following the direction of the energy, Chang Le saw Qin Shaoji, an elderly man with snow-white hair and graying locks, standing atop an ancient tower over twenty meters high. The old man stood lightly atop the tower, gazing into the distance.
Chang Le and his group walked to the front of the soldiers blocking the way.
Upon seeing the group, the serious Ying Xuanxu nodded slightly: "I heard that the people from District Nine want to see Qin Shaoji. Please wait a moment while we arrest him and bring him to justice before you question him."
"What if we can't catch them?" Jing Yuyan retorted bluntly.
Ying Xuanxu frowned but said nothing.
Chang Le then asked Shen Xiu, "What did he do?"
Shen Xiu said in a low voice, "No, I've just been standing up there."
He paused, then said in a serious tone, "The pill he stole is said to be a drug created by the God-Making Sect, capable of allowing people to fuse with other superpowers. The research institute had just decided to open it for research when he took it. The biggest problem now is that we don't know what the pill's specific effects are."
Chang Le harbored doubts.
The god-making faction would never produce such a drug. If they did, they wouldn't have gone to so much trouble to lure extraterrestrial beings to the land and hold her captive.
What exactly was the drug that Qin Shaoji had?
After a brief discussion, the group tacitly decided to split into two groups—Chang Le and Chen Wusui, who had just arrived, and Sui Yunmu, who already knew the structure of the Wild Goose Pagoda—to quietly ascend the pagoda from behind Qin Shaoji via a specific path.
The three quickly climbed the tower.
When they were only one floor away from the top of the tower, the three of them stopped in unison.
Looking up, through the gap between the sloping staircase and the attic, one can clearly see Qin Shaoji standing there.
The three approached slowly, without hiding.
Hiding is useless. At this distance, given their cultivation levels, unless they possess specialized concealment abilities, they can all detect each other.
Approaching slowly was only to guard against any sudden action from Qin Shaoji.
However, even after the three of them climbed up to the pavilion, where they were only head-to-head apart from Qin Shaoji, Qin Shaoji did not make any move.
The three walked to the edge of the attic, and Qin Shaoji suddenly spoke up: "Is Chang Le or any of the other friends from the Ninth District here? Come up and chat."
In the end, the other two couldn't win the argument with Chang Le, so Chang Le, disguised as Fu Jiu, climbed to the top of the tower.
Ignoring the tilted tower top, Chang Le walked steadily to a certain distance away and said, "My name is Fu Jiu, and I come from District Nine. You can tell me anything you want to say to Chang Le."
"Fu Jiu? What is your relationship with Dragon Emperor Fu Guang and Chang Le?"
Qin Shaoji looked older than when they last met, but he no longer had that gloomy feeling. Instead, he resembled the kind and humorous old man from the Red Flag Courtyard, and his face was filled with a relaxed smile as he spoke.
Chang Le didn't sense any murderous intent from him. Thinking of Fu Jiu's personality, she sat down on the spot, her posture relaxed and natural.
She replied, "Of course, it's a very close relationship."
Qin Shaoji chuckled softly: "Good, District Nine still has successors."
Chang Le didn't understand.
Fu Jiu: "Old man, have you misunderstood something? You don't think I'm your child, do you?"
Chang Le was speechless and secretly told Him to shut up.
“If we’re just chatting, we can move to a small, dark room in Hua’an City; it’s more comfortable there than here,” Chang Le said casually.
"You said it yourself, it's a dark room. Now that it's over, I want to see the sun properly. I don't want to leave my life and death to others in such a miserable way."
