"Old Mu, don't be impulsive. This was my oversight." Changfeng, of course, didn't dare to further agitate Chang Le in his current state, so he quickly stopped Mu Liangchao and whispered.
"She's startled. You wouldn't go so far as to make things difficult for a child at a time like this, would you?"
Mu Liangchao's chest heaved several times before he finally left the ward under Chang Le's wary gaze, with Chang Feng following him.
She was alone in the room, and her tense body relaxed slightly as she wrapped herself tightly in the blanket.
“Old Mu,” Changfeng explained quickly in a low voice, “this was my oversight. The infected energy in Alai’s body has been difficult to resolve, and I didn’t expect him to suddenly go berserk just now.”
Chang Le was about to start her needlework when A Lai suddenly burst in, startling her and causing her to intervene. "Don't be harsh with that girl. I'm the one who should apologize; I didn't arrange things properly."
Mu Liangchao's mood had calmed down a bit, but the grief in his eyes had not diminished: "Why do you need to take the blame? I was too impulsive just now because I was worried. I know it's not her fault, it was my fault."
And ultimately, it's my fault. After all, Alai fell victim to Chaos's scheme because of me.
Changfeng frowned slightly: "The ability of [Chaos] is indeed troublesome. No wonder he is the number one person in the [God-Making Faction] Elder Council, second only to the Acting Holy Lord."
"Sigh, that crazy girl..." Mu Liangchao stammered awkwardly, "Is she alright?"
Changfeng glanced at him, slightly reproachful: "Does he look like nothing's wrong? I've already gone to call Fuguang. We'll talk about it after Fuguang arrives."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Fu Guang rushed over and went inside without even looking at the two of them.
The moment the door opened, the person in the corner let out a growl from their throat, similar to an angry cat. The breath grazed their ventral opening, producing a rough, guttural sound, almost like a low growl—a clear warning.
Even after recognizing Fu Guang, Chang Le did not let his guard down.
This person may seem strangely familiar, but they might not necessarily be a good person!
The guy with the greasy hair who had attacked her before was in cahoots with him. The person she almost killed was the one with the colored hair. So the guy called "Fu Guang" in front of her would probably scold and punish her for it, or give her a high-sounding lecture.
Chang Le believed he was right and refused to learn from his mistakes. So he stared at Fu Guang, watching his every move with wary eyes, trying to predict what he would do.
When Fu Guang first saw the little guy in the corner, and then the bloodstains on the sheets, his heart ached as if it were being stabbed by countless needles.
Seeing Chang Le's gaze, he knew that she didn't believe him.
"Not bad."
Chang Le was completely stunned, and there was not a trace of anger on Fu Guang's face.
"You did a great job of acting decisively and without hesitation when there was a threat, and of staying vigilant in unfamiliar places."
Fu Guang had already reached the bedside. He squatted down, and Chang Le suddenly snapped back to reality and shrank back. He still spoke calmly:
"No matter who the danger comes from or what its purpose is, if it threatens your safety, you must push the danger away and ensure your own safety first."
"Remember, if anyone, including myself, makes you feel threatened, you have the right to fight back to protect yourself, and there's nothing wrong with that."
"The same goes for this time."
Chang Le unconsciously gazed quietly into his eyes.
“It was Alai who was about to harm you, and you acted in self-defense. As your common superior, I approve of your actions and will not have any prejudice against you because of them. You don’t need to worry about that. So, you don’t need to be afraid of being maliciously targeted because of this. I assure you, it won’t happen.”
Chang Le's tension eased slightly, but a growing wariness arose in response to his overly well-intentioned suspicion.
But then, Fu Guang's face turned cold: "But!"
Chang Le's head immediately perked up, his round eyes fixed on him, waiting for his "but".
"It's foolish to injure the enemy a thousand while losing eight hundred of your own!" Fu Guang grabbed her arm accurately through the blanket. Chang Le instinctively reached out, but a large hand pinched her cheeks and lifted her head.
"Remember, no one can live a peaceful life alone, neither can I, and neither can you. You must have your own comrades-in-arms, and I brought you back to help you find comrades-in-arms to fight alongside you. So here, don't resist anything; try to accept it."
First, you can try to borrow or utilize my power. For example, you can come to me to complain.
You've been wronged, injured, and even almost died if you hadn't fought back! Isn't it a better choice to achieve a good outcome without getting hurt? I know you don't believe in me, don't believe in this world, but why don't you try again? Maybe you can start a different life here.
"Little madman, you can use that reckless madness to protect yourself, but be careful not to hurt yourself, and don't completely deny the world because of it, and isolate yourself from the world first."
Try again, try to accept it, open your eyes and look at the people and things here. What if, just what if, this place can become your home?
Chang Le understood and could feel the sincerity in his words. Unconsciously, Fu Guang's hand had changed from clamping to supporting.
"Don't curl up like that, aren't your legs numb?" Fu Guang quickly touched her forehead with the back of his hand.
"Your fever hasn't completely subsided yet. Come here to get treatment first, recover quickly, and then you'll be working for me."
Chang Le was still subconsciously wary, but she no longer resisted his actions of getting up and going to bed.
This guy was so talkative that he rambled on and on about everything she had been holding in. She didn't know how to argue with him, so she decided to climb back into bed.
She wasn't fully awake yet.
But Chang Le didn't get to rest. Instead, Fu Guang pulled her up and arranged for her to recuperate in the main building of the Golden Palace.
