The door was pushed open.
The weather outside was sunny and clear, a crisp and refreshing autumn day.
The room was gloomy as night fell, and the curtains let in no light.
A faint smell of blood lingered in the air.
Hua Yuezhi put down what he was holding and quickly walked to the bedside.
He found the person he was looking for in the gap between the bed and the wall, and breathed a barely perceptible sigh of relief.
The girl, wearing a thin dress, huddled in a crevice, her long hair spread out on the cold ground.
She was holding a tattered white rabbit; there was blood on the rabbit and on her body.
Hua Yuezhi hesitated for a moment, then squatted down, speaking very softly: "Let me get you the medicine."
"kick!"
Hua Yuezhi jerked his head back sharply to dodge the dark green vines that suddenly lashed out at him, and quickly took two steps back, saying, "No, I won't take it. I'll leave right away. I won't bother you."
The vines were pulled back.
Hua Yuezhi sighed softly, without touching the decorations on the table, and left the room after saying, "The ceremony will begin at eight o'clock tonight."
The door closed, and the room returned to darkness.
In the darkness, Chang Le kept his eyes open, but they had no luster and blended completely into the night.
She was holding the large rabbit, and the room was deathly quiet.
Chang Le suddenly twitched, like someone who had fallen and woken up from a dream, shrinking back and letting out a soft groan, burying her face in the rabbit's soft belly.
Pale fingers touched the sharp blade at his side.
A moment later, the fresh smell of blood dissipated, and the girl returned to a deathly silence.
Outside, the lights were bright, the flowers were vibrant, and the atmosphere was lively and bustling.
The room was pitch black, the roses were rotten, and there was no sound.
She no longer belongs to this world.
At 7:50 p.m., preparations for the ceremony began.
Upstairs, where no one was, a door to a room where the lights couldn't reach was ajar.
Chang Le, dressed in a snow-white dress, placed the white rabbit on the dinosaur chair, covered it with a small blanket, bent down, and kissed the rabbit's forehead with her pale lips, her voice very soft:
"I can't take you with me this time. Goodnight, Bunny."
Chang Le straightened up and looked around the room.
The messy room reeked of blood, and the gold and red decorations on the walls and tables seemed out of place.
Chang Le took one last look, then turned to face the darkest corner of the room and said:
"let's go."
Zhou Liang greeted the guests with a smile, fulfilling her duty. She Haoyun and She Jiameng followed Madam She.
About ten meters away, a white figure moved silently in the opposite direction like a ghost.
She Haoyun entered the hall, greeted the Hua family members, and searched for them in the crowd.
He saw Hua Xiange not far away, walked over and asked, "Where's Lele?"
Hua Xiange didn't give him a friendly look: "Does Young Master She still want to pester her on this occasion?"
She Haoyun chuckled.
In the eyes of the Hua family, he seduced Chang Le and led her astray.
She Haoyun didn't ask any more questions. He thought that Chang Le must not like seeing the Hua family so harmonious and peaceful.
only……
She Haoyun's gaze passed through the window and landed on the upper floor behind the banquet hall, where Hua Changle lived.
He looked at the fact that there had been no communications for several days and felt uneasy.
I hope... everything will be alright.
Thinking of this, he glanced at Madam She, who had brought people over, and greeted her with a smile, thinking to himself: I'll find Chang Le after the ceremony.
In Hua Anning's room, after finishing her makeup, she was dealing with trivial matters in the Eighth District.
Hua Qingyun knocked on the door and came in: "Ningning, is your makeup so light? Today is your birthday banquet, and people from all over the district have come."
Hua Anning smiled and said, "I am the master, and Amen belongs to Lai Gong and me. Shouldn't it be in accordance with my wishes?"
As everyone watched, Hua Anning took Hua Qingyun's hand and walked down the stairs.
Many people were whispering, which Hua Anning could naturally hear. She glanced around but didn't see Chang Le.
Earlier, she and Hua Qingyun had gone to Hua Changle's room and saw that the decorations were all hung up, so they thought she had changed her mind and was coming down to participate. But she wasn't down there.
Is it that you don't want to go out and have fun anymore?
While Hua Lihan was speaking, she took the opportunity to ask him a question.
Hua Qingyun thought similarly to her. Coupled with the recent headaches caused by Hua Changle's leak of some confidential documents, the mere mention of Changle's name filled Hua Qingyun with irritation, naturally making his tone unpleasant.
"She's never coming here for anything good. Who cares what she's doing? She's probably just having fun somewhere again!"
Hua Qingyun paused, still feeling frustrated, then pushed up her glasses and added, "They're hopeless!"
...
The abandoned urban area in the northern suburbs of Huacheng.
This is an area that is slated for redevelopment recently; most of the buildings have been abandoned and demolished.
The stars were few and far between, and the night sky was quiet.
Chang Le sat on the edge of the rooftop, where the autumn wind was chilly, swinging his legs.
She was dressed in Western-style courtly men's clothing, her small heels clicking against the wall.
She gazed at the few stars in the sky, lost in thought.
A few scattered starlight points to those empty eyes, making them seem to regain some sparkle.
She suddenly chuckled softly, looking around with a hint of excitement: "Look, there really are stars!"
There was no response.
She pouted slightly, her shoulders slumping: "Fine, you're ignoring me again."
Her frail body seemed to sway precariously in the wind.
"Do you know? The most beautiful starry sky I've ever seen was in the Enlightenment Ice Nest, with Fu Guang."
"pity……"
She stood up, her hair dancing in the wind:
"Isn't it almost time?"
She looked around and held out her hand: "Let's go together."
