When Luo Xuan found Chang Le again, she was in the garden. Fu Yue was sewing a cloth doll, and it was still unclear what it looked like. She was sitting on the grass, leaning on the armrest of the chair and tilting her head to look at it.
The two turned around when they heard the sound and saw the cuckoo crying behind Luo Xuan.
Fu Yue's expression turned slightly cold as he turned back to continue sewing.
Chang Le glanced at it and then ignored it, looking at Luo Xuan: "Brother Xuan."
Luo Xuan smiled and said, "We received news from the region that Gu Lianghan and the other three are in very bad condition after their abilities were stripped away. They are asking if they can be kept alive with healing abilities, in a way similar to implanting a powerless ability."
Chang Le's eyes suddenly turned cold: "Do whatever you want. Anyway, District Nine won't help them. Letting them breathe and say goodbye to their families is already my mercy."
She looked up and stared directly at Luo Xuan: "I've been soft-hearted enough."
Luo Xuan wasn't surprised by her answer at all; in fact, he wholeheartedly agreed: "Okay, I'll make it clear to them. However, this means there will probably be quite a few people harassing us about this in the next few days, so..."
He paused, then offered the cuckoo's cry to the child: "Chang Le, I'd like him to stay with you, is that alright?"
Chang Le raised his eyelids slightly: "What is its function?"
Luo Xuan said, "I'll answer for you and help you retort."
Chang Le readily agreed: "Okay."
After waiting a moment, Luo Xuan squatted down and whispered, "As for the Wolf Faction, Mr. Lu is hospitalized again, but his life is not in danger. Lu Jin'an said he mentioned you."
Chang Le knew what he meant, but still shook her head: "I don't want to go."
The expressionless face became more vivid, yet it was a complex avoidance.
Luo Xuan didn't try to persuade him further: "Okay, I understand. I'll keep an eye on things over there for you. Also, there's one more thing."
"Ying Huaixia wrote to ask when you will have time."
Chang Le thought for a moment: "I'm too lazy today, let's do it tomorrow. Let him come earlier."
"What are the preparations?"
"Just be prepared for the pain. We won't compensate you if you die from the pain here."
Luo Xuan smiled and replied, "Then I'll tell him that."
Afterwards, Luo Xuan went to handle some business, and Chang Le waited until Fu Yue finished sewing and stuffing the cotton for her.
It was a small green snake, and it was obvious who it was.
After Chang Le helped Yue back to the house, she took the small snake to her own residence, with Zi Gui Ti silently following behind her.
Upon entering Chang Le's bedroom, besides her bed, several plush toys were already arranged on a separate cot beside it. There was a black and gold dragon, a couple, a smiling person in white, and a dark figure crouching and holding a stone. Chang Le placed the small snake behind it and then sat on the cot, looking at them repeatedly.
The cuckoo's dry throat itched, and despite trying to hold it in, it couldn't help but cough to clear its throat.
Chang Le suddenly turned his head to look at him.
The cuckoo responded with a smile: "Sorry, I'd like some water."
Tentacles emerged from his sleeve, rolled up a water glass, filled it with drinking water, and handed it to him.
At least it was water to drink. After Zigui finished drinking and put down the cup, she saw Chang Le walk out and quickly followed.
Chang Le led him on a leisurely stroll to the outside of the Golden Palace.
The sky was clear and the spring sunshine was bright; the sea of clouds in the sky seemed to be gilded with gold. Standing on the mountainside where the Golden Palace is located, one can take in the vibrant scene of the reconstruction of the Ninth District.
Everything is peaceful and beautiful.
But then the noise broke the silence. The arguing came from the path leading up the mountain.
A guard from the Golden Palace ran up and bowed to Chang Le: "Young Master, Lu Yaoqi from the Lu family in District Four is making a fuss about seeing you. He is accompanied by Xunfeng, Qiuniao, and Tian Tiantian from the Infinite Team. Our people wanted to stop them, but they were afraid of a conflict and did not take forceful action. Young Master, what do you think we should do?"
Chang Le asked him, "Can you win?"
The guard was taken aback: "If they really make a move, we can't beat them. We need to find our superiors."
Chang Le slightly raised his chin: "Then don't stop them."
The guard agreed and ran back.
The heavy, hurried footsteps quickly approached, and several people came into view. Leading them was Lu Yaoqi, whose eyes were bloodshot and whose expression was agitated. Behind her were Xunfeng, Qiuniao, and others who looked worried.
"Chang Le! Why did you kill my father? He could have lived! What grudge did you hold against me? Why did you make things difficult for him? He dedicated half his life to the Fourth District, why did he die so unjustly?! Chang Le! How could you..."
Chang Le didn't hear what came next, which was mostly curses. A pair of hands reached out from behind and covered her ears, using their supernatural abilities to block out the sound.
"No need to listen."
It is the hand of an entertainer.
Bai Xie and Li Jie also came with them. Chang Le knew it was them, so she didn't move. The musician covered her ears, but she didn't move either. Li Jie stood in front of her, blocking Lu Yaoqi completely, so she couldn't hear or see anything.
Chang Le remained completely unmoved.
Ling only let go of Lu Yaoqi's hand when Bai Xie silenced her and Tian Tiantian coaxed her away, and when Bai Xie spoke with Xunfeng. Li Jie also stepped aside.
“Xunfeng, Qiuniao, Lu Yaoqi is straightforward and in the midst of grief, so I won’t hold it against her for being overly concerned. But you two shouldn’t have been so foolish as to let her come over and criticize Chang Le. Do you really believe the rumors?” Bai Xie said coldly, clearly angered.
Chang Le looked up upon hearing this. The musician understood her question and whispered, "A rumor suddenly circulated around noon that you were able to protect Gu Lianghan and the other three, but that the deaths of the others were intentional. Lu Yaoqi believed the rumor."
Chang Le responded with an "Oh".
Xunfeng looked guilty and embarrassed to speak. Qiu Niao sighed and said, "Brother Bai, we're sorry. We know it's not appropriate, but Xiaoqi has been in such a bad state these days. She's been holding all her anger in. We were worried that her body couldn't take it, so we brought her here, thinking that we could talk things out and let her vent her anger."
