An unexpected touch of warmth.
The room isn't big, only about ten square meters.
Alloy windows, beige puppy curtains.
A two-meter double bed sits by the window, covered in dust, and the sheets still bear the same cute little dog pattern as the curtains.
The bedside cabinet is furnished with a nightlight, bookshelf, vase, and screen connector, creating a strong sense of home.
The bookshelf was empty, but the red roses in the vase looked incredibly lifelike.
That wasn't a real rose; you couldn't tell what kind of material it was.
Its color is as vibrant as fire, eternally blooming.
There is a cartoon drawing on the wall opposite the bed and on the wardrobe diagonally opposite.
The drawing depicts two chibi-style figures, a boy and a girl.
The man had yellow and white dog ears on his head, and his adorable expression overlapped with the dog on the bed sheet and curtains;
The woman coldly raised her chin, one hand around the boy's waist, the other holding a knife; even in chibi form, she exuded coolness and swagger.
It's impossible to match the chibi-style character with the characters in the database and confirm their identity.
Chang Le couldn't help but be curious.
Were these two the former owners of this place?
Who are they?
Chang Le looked around for a moment, then opened the wardrobe, which was completely empty.
The bedside cabinet was also empty, clearly having been intentionally cleaned out, leaving nothing behind.
Chang Le was a little frustrated.
She thought she could find some useful clues, since she still didn't understand why she was able to get in here.
For a fleeting moment, Chang Le wondered if these two were a married couple, and that one of them happened to be hers...
However, that's impossible.
Chang Le looked around and realized that this place had been abandoned for at least a hundred years.
If it weren't for the special and expensive materials used in many of the house's structures, this house would never have survived to this day unharmed.
Can she live that long?
Surely she isn't someone from the era three hundred years ago, like Shen Fuguang?
Chang Le laughed at his own absurd idea: "How is that possible? Wouldn't that mean I've lost over three hundred years of memories? What's the difference between me living and not living at all? That's too ridiculous!"
Chang Le, mindful that Bai Xie and the others were still waiting for her outside, quickly searched around again.
Surprisingly, this time she actually found something!
Hidden behind the painting on the wardrobe was a small card, about five centimeters square.
Above is a faded landscape painting, and in the lower right corner is a handwritten word:
"Return".
Chang Le couldn't figure it out for a moment. After thinking for a while, he took a picture of the card, put it back, and then walked back to the door.
Doing the same thing as when they came in, Chang Le was indeed sent out unharmed once again.
No one knew that a faint sound was suddenly coming from the empty room.
Then, a mechanical arm suddenly popped out from under the bed, its end flashing a red light.
—It's a camera.
The red-eye camera spun left and right, finally fixing its view on the painting on the wardrobe. Then, a strange, mechanical voice began to sound:
"Image capture—"
"Authentication -"
"Verification successful".
"Welcome, Lele."
The sound faded, and the room fell silent.
The camera circled around again:
No response.
Target lost
Re-enter hibernation.
The robotic arm retracted under the bed, and the room returned to silence.
...
Seeing Chang Le emerge unharmed, Bai Xie and the other two breathed a sigh of relief.
Kulei stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and checked her over: "It's alright as long as you're not injured."
Chang Le told them about the room: "...There are only these things in the room, and we didn't find any very useful information."
"Gui?" Kulei guessed. "Is it a name? A pen name? Or does it have some special meaning?"
Chang Le shook his head: "I can't figure it out, I have no clue."
"Forget it, let's not think about it then." Kulei pinched Chang Le's cheek.
"Your face is so pale, you must not have been taking care of yourself lately. It's getting late, go to sleep!"
They said they were going to get a good night's sleep, but in reality, everyone was just sleeping on the floor on the first floor.
Chang Le lay down on the ground. To his left was Kulaiyi, to his right was Baixie, and further to the right were Lingren, Lijie, Crow, and Raymond.
It was the first time everyone had slept on the floor together. Chang Le found it all very strange.
The area around the house was quiet, with the occasional low voices of the ganking team on the far left and the sounds of people moving their bodies.
Although outside were deadly bone-melting pits and ants, inside the house, everyone lay together and felt incredibly safe.
Chang Le suddenly felt very tired, turned to his side with Kulai, curled up his legs and hands and fell asleep.
Kulai opened his eyes and looked around. Bai Xie reached out a hand, pulling on the thin blanket that Chang Le had torn off.
Kulei took it and covered Chang Le from the shoulders down.
Outside Yulou Pass, things are quite different from those in the Seventh District. By mid-September, the trees are already covered in frost in the early morning, the midday sun is only a dozen degrees Celsius, and the nights are bitterly cold.
Chang Le was frail, so Raymond gave her his blanket.
Before long, everyone except the two on guard duty went to sleep.
...
Chang Le never expected to find herself in an unfamiliar place when she opened her eyes.
It was a room that looked like an abandoned warehouse. She looked down and was immediately annoyed.
She was restrained in an iron chair, her hands bound to the armrests with tough ropes.
Upon closer inspection, good heavens, my little hands and short legs make me look about eight or nine years old!
Looking around again, everything seemed too clear and logical.
Childhood, a clear environment, a reasonable plot, and a clear self-awareness, but an unfamiliar setting.
Needless to say, it's another memory from some unknown period!
