"drop!"
The fairy, supporting her bloodied right arm, stared at Wan Buxun across from her with a grim expression. The seven people behind her lay sprawled on the ground.
Wan Buxun was also covered in blood, but his injuries were much lighter than the fairy's.
Wan Buxun's eyes were veiled in a faint blood-red mist, and his aura was powerful and ferocious. Sensing the killing intent emanating from him, the fairy took a half-step back.
"Fine, what a Dragon Clan!" The fairy glared fiercely at Wan Buxun. Suddenly, she turned and ran.
Wan Buxun snorted coldly and leaped up. He lashed out with his long whip, aiming straight for the fairy's back.
The fairy sensed the wind behind her, quickly dodged to the side, and the sharp edge of the whip grazed her body before turning back to stab again!
The fairy, caught in mid-air, had no time to dodge and quickly activated her supernatural power.
A layer of mist, like the fireworks of the sunset, enveloped his body, forming a protective barrier. It collided with the long whip, producing a clanging sound like metal striking stone.
The fairy was knocked away by the force of the whip and fled quickly.
Seeing that Wan Buxun did not give chase, the other members of the Dragon Soul Army also stopped: "Leader, are we just going to let her go like this?"
Wan Buxun said, "This woman is not simple. If we really want to keep her, we will have to pay a heavy price. Our priority now is to save people. It is enough to drive her away."
"Let's go back!"
When Wan Buxun returned, Chang Le was still communicating with someone.
Iris asked him, "Where are the fairies?"
"They fled northeast," Wan Buxun said.
"Her special ability, Soul Absorption, is bizarre. Forcibly confronting her will not benefit us; we should simply drive her away."
Chang Le then hung up the call and said:
“I have already told Hua Anning about what’s happening here. She will inform other rescue workers in the region to be careful and avoid encountering other people sent by the God-Making Faction.”
The group continued walking forward.
Iris was still curious: "Lele, how did you guess their intentions?"
Chang Le said, "Do you still remember Braden Gallia on the landship?"
Iris nodded, and Chang Le told her his speculation.
Iris then sorted things out and said thoughtfully, "It seems that the infighting within the God-Making Faction has become even more serious."
Just as Chang Le was about to say something, his expression suddenly changed and he stopped. Wan Buxun also stared intently ahead, while Iris stepped aside to block Chang Le's path.
In the distance, the earth was stained with patches of mottled dark red.
Upon closer inspection, Chang Le realized that what appeared to be "dye" were actually tens of thousands of dark red ants of varying sizes. The smaller ones were the size of an adult's little finger, while the larger ones were larger than two palms.
Wan Buxun's face darkened: "Sword-toothed ants."
The most prominent of the three gregarious species gathered on the western edge of the old ruins in the northern border is the saber-toothed ant.
Iris gazed into the distance and said, "The Bone-Melting Pit is just ahead, and the swarm of saber-toothed ants has probably surrounded the entire pit!"
422 popped up and used Chang Le's eyes to observe the situation:
[Among this swarm of saber-toothed ants, there are over ten thousand with cultivation levels, and several even possess the aura of the eighth rank. Therefore, the queen of this swarm of saber-toothed ants must be at least at the ninth rank in cultivation.]
[With this kind of commotion, no wonder the Assassin Squad couldn't get out.]
Wan Buxun turned to Chang Le and said, "I'll go and investigate first."
Before long, Wan Buxun returned and drew a diagram on the ground:
"The situation is bad. From my vantage point, I observed that the saber-toothed ants have surrounded the area from all sides, completely occupying the outer perimeter of the molten bone pit. The actual number of ants is twice as many as we can see from the front."
"The ant colony is currently hovering around the core area of the Bone-Melting Pit, not daring to approach. The Hunter Team should be in the core area. I haven't spotted them from the air, so I don't know their current situation."
"If we want to rescue people, we must force our way through the barbed ants on one side and enter the core area of the bone-melting pit."
Chang Le asked, "Can you tell which direction their defenses are weakest?"
Wan Buxun said, "Their numbers are evenly distributed, and crucially, I haven't found their queen ant who gives orders. If we can kill the queen ant directly, the remaining ant colony is nothing to worry about."
"No way," Chang Le immediately rejected the idea.
"According to the ant colony's habits, the queen ant hides very deep and will not come out unless the colony is severely damaged."
However, with just our numbers, inflicting large-scale casualties on the ant colony would be quite costly. We need to conserve our strength for the return journey.
Moreover, this would be a waste of time and would keep us occupied.
Iris suggested, "Why don't we split into two groups? One group can create a disturbance to lure away the ant swarm, while Lele, you can lead the group into the Bone-Melting Pit."
“The method is feasible,” Wan Buxun agreed.
Chang Le did not agree immediately; she was recalling the information about saber-toothed ants she had read in the library.
"I remember that the exoskeleton of the saber-toothed ant is immune to most elements, has extremely strong defense, and its body has a certain regenerative ability, but what is it afraid of again? Rabbits?"
Hmph, you still want me to take action? I knew it...
"Hurry up!"
Alright! It's simple, saber-toothed ants are afraid of mental attacks!
In a colony of saber-toothed ants, only the queen has a strong mental capacity in order to improve colony management efficiency and facilitate queen control; the mental defenses of other saber-toothed ants are very weak.
If a concentrated mental attack can be launched, breaking through the enemy's encirclement is not impossible.
Chang Le told Iris and Wan Buxun what 422 had said.
"Psychological attack?"
Wan Buxun and Iris exchanged a glance and said:
"With our combined cultivation levels, we are more than capable of crushing the Queen Ant's spirit, but to be effective against all the saber-toothed ants in one direction, we need to unleash our full offensive power, which may not be possible."
