Chapter 676 Enlightenment in the Space Realm: "Your kindness must have an edge"; His Three Gifts

Beneath the Milky Way, atop the mountain, a black dragon coils.

He turned and swept away the night, golden patterns like stars adorning the scene, gradually approaching the light screen, as if flying out of it.

A familiar, gentle voice fell into my ear:

"If you're really too tired, go home. I'll be waiting for you there; I'll always be here."

Suddenly, a stream of cool spring water gushed over one's head, making one feel refreshed and awake.

"Thump—"

Then, a resounding bell rang out from that silent place where countless dragon souls were buried, crashing into his mind.

Suddenly, the confusion in Chang Le's mind dissipated, as if he had just woken up from a dream.

He said:

"Chang Le, they are waiting for you to come home."

"This is the truth, and this is the reason for your choice."

Chang Le seemed like a patient who had been suffering from a long-term lung ailment, finally free from the chronic illness, and began to breathe deeply and freely.

The real stirrings of life, along with the scattered sounds of anticipation and waiting around her, pulled her back to a real and clear world.

"In fact, what can truly break you is never the criticism of others, but your own self-doubt."

"clatter."

He placed a cup of clear water in front of Chang Le, and the water floated steadily in the air.

As Chang Le regained his senses and became more aware, he realized that the person in front of him must be related to Jiu Fanggui, the owner of the God-Making Laboratory.

Moreover, this person possesses extraordinary abilities; he may be the central control consciousness of the secret realm, or some guardian left behind by Jiu Fanggui.

Chang Le picked up the water and drank it; the coolness entered his lungs, and the fire in his heart dissipated.

She took a deep breath, looked up again, and said in a steady and serious voice, "Sir, I have two questions. Please answer them."

"First, ask about good and evil; second, ask about cause and effect."

"Sir, I have always believed that I strive to be good, although I cannot deny my own depravity."

All my goodness stems from refuting the darkness within, all my righteousness from filling the abyss of prejudice within, all my courage to move forward from hating the weakness within, and all my hope from the unbearable pain of loss. I live only because I have nowhere to die.

I am evil, I am attached, therefore my heart holds hell;

I strive for good, do good deeds, and feel compassion for all living beings, and I can clearly see a clear blue sky, yet I receive no good results.

People come and go, and I seem to be lucky enough to be loved and protected by countless people;

But I couldn't suppress the anger and hatred in my heart, resenting everything that had hurt me and might continue to hurt me, feeling that I couldn't keep anyone, and feeling utterly alone!

I don't understand why kindness leads to bad results, and why goodness leads to loneliness!

My goodwill tells me that I should protect the world that Fuguang and the others protect, and be a bright and cheerful person living in the sunshine. So I hope that they, like me, will care about this world, stand on my side, and choose to protect and maintain peace together.

But will things really develop the way I hope?

Sir, I dare not believe in goodness. I don't know how to balance the two, or how to choose.

He laughed and said:

"Your kindness must have an edge."

Chang Le was stunned.

"What you call evil is resentment, protesting against injustice, loving others, and having compassion for all living beings. This is part of being human, and it is the protection you must take to ensure your own goodness."

"From a certain perspective, this is not the evil you fear, it is just human nature."

"If you choose indifference, I wish you eternal indifference; but if you have clear likes and dislikes, how can I not praise you?"

"You are calm but still burning; you are steady but even more powerful."

"Therefore, good and evil are not mutually exclusive, and one should choose one to suppress the other. Rather, you should be able to turn the evil that you hate and others fear into a driving force for progress."

"The evil in your heart is the sharp edge that propels goodness forward."

Chang Le felt as if a trickle of water had broken through rocks, cascading down to join a river, and suddenly everything became clear and bright.

She then asked, "But if choosing this path will cause more of my loved ones to pay the price, while I may be forever alone? Is this right or wrong?"

"You need to understand one thing: the most frightening thing is when humanity no longer suffers or is willing to sacrifice for a certain ideal, because this quality is the foundation of humanity, and it is this quality that makes people unique in the universe."

"You are like this, and so are those you love and those who love and support you. When they join the path you have chosen, they are nothing more than beams of starlight embracing each other and converging into a vast and brilliant galaxy. Each of them will be a shining star within it."

"This is the light emanating from their own destiny."

"As for loneliness, that's an unsolvable question. To be born a human being is to be alone. But those who pursue goodness, while moving forward in the turbidity and constantly searching for their kind, abandon those who are on different paths, and naturally become the lonely ones."

"You only need to understand yourself, not everyone else. Just walk the path upwards, follow your own way, and you will have your own guiding starlight."

"Loneliness is the hymn of the brave."

Chang Le's eyes filled with hot tears, and his chest was filled with warm breath.

She solemnly said, "Sir, I am unwilling to abandon my self-deprecating conscience, nor am I willing to erase the abyss of resentment in my heart for the sake of kindness."

I want to seek retribution, quell the hatred, mourn those I have lost, and fill the abyss in my heart.

I wish to walk the path of goodness and progress, to protect the world he protected, and to complete the work he left unfinished.

I wish to forge a new path, one that no one has ever walked before, to open up a new world of "creation," and to break through the shackles of this world to reach the cosmic spacetime beyond.
