Chapters 3564 and 3576 [The Awakening Vodka] Requesting monthly votes (づど)
"No, no... stop hitting me!!"
Whether it was Inspector Megure's words that had an effect, or the relentless swinging of the baton that proved so effective, Yoshio Sadakin, lying on the ground, broke down in tears.
“I didn’t intend to kill anyone. I just wanted the woman who killed my son to stop wearing those indecent shoes and to apologize to my son in heaven—really, that was all I wanted to do at first! But I don’t know why things ended up like this…”
Vermouth gave him a look of sympathy, then propped herself up and quietly left the floor before the others arrived.
Before long, the others, following Conan's directions, arrived at the correct floor one after another.
Officer Takagi finally got someone to fix the power switch. With a click, the lights turned on, illuminating the room.
"Sonoko!!" Ran Mouri rushed in and hugged Sonoko Suzuki tightly. "Are you alright? Are you hurt? It's all my fault. I should have gone with you to put your things away."
Two high school girls hugged each other and cried.
Officer Sato looked at the unharmed Sonoko Suzuki and smiled with relief, but then she immediately felt something was wrong—the banging sound next to her ear sounded so familiar.
"Jiang Xia!!" Upon closer inspection, Officer Sato belatedly realized—while searching for the person, she had been picturing Jiang Xia beating the criminal in her mind the whole way. So when she arrived on this floor and saw this scene, she didn't feel anything was wrong; instead, she felt a sense of "it should be this way."
But now...
"Stop hitting them!" She lunged forward to skillfully stop them. "Inspector Matsumoto is coming up soon, and there are those media people too. If you keep fighting, people will see!"
Yoshio Tadasu, rolling on the ground: "..." Wait? What do you mean if someone sees him hitting someone again?? --You stopped him because beating a criminal is inherently wrong!
He was about to protest when he was stomped on and silenced—this time it wasn't Jiang Xia who was stepping on him, but Sato Miwako who lost her balance while pulling him up and accidentally stepped on his back.
"Sato!" Inspector Megure also snapped out of his daze and came over to pull her away. "It's one thing for Jiang Xia to step on you a couple of times, but what if you leave marks on your heels—get down here right now!"
Sato Miwako quickly pulled her foot back, only then realizing something, and belatedly exclaimed, "Inspector, you actually found this place on your own? That's amazing."
"It's nothing." Inspector Megure adjusted his hat discreetly. "I just suddenly thought of Go, and these scattered stones led me here."
As he moved, a pool of blood that had been trapped inside his hat gushed down his cheek.
"!!!" Officer Sato was startled and quickly shouted to the young officer who was running over, "Ambulance! Go call an ambulance!"
"Don't make such a fuss." Inspector Megure smiled and looked at Sonoko Suzuki, who had been successfully rescued, and said very easily, "It's just that an old wound that wasn't treated properly before has reopened—it might actually be a good thing to reopen it and treat it again today."
...
This sudden incident caused all the lights in the department store to come back on.
Meanwhile, in a private room of a sushi restaurant in another building across the street.
An organization cadre who had unfortunately eaten sushi laced with anesthetic and was subsequently stabbed several times finally awoke with a throbbing pain in his neck and struggled to open his eyes.
"Who am I? Where am I? How did I fall asleep... Wait?!"
After a brief moment of confusion, Vodka sprang to his feet, his memory returning: "Uzo!!!"
That madman actually dared to poison him, an innocent cadre who hadn't done anything, right in front of his boss?!
"When I closed my eyes, I thought I was going to die, but when I opened them I was alive... Thank you, Brother Gin, he must have saved me."
"But speaking of which, where is Gin? Has he already left? If he left, why didn't he take me with him?! What if that bastard Uzo comes back with a vengeance?!"
Thinking of this, Vodka dared not linger. He quickly stood up, and this series of movements once again aggravated his already troubled neck.
"Why does it hurt so much? It feels like I've been chopped several times..." Vodka was filled with grief and indignation. "He not only knocked me out, but he also hit me! This kid is utterly inhuman! -- Where's my brother? Why isn't he doing anything? Is he just going to let this go?"
"Speaking of which, what time is it now? I hope I don't miss my next mission."
While grieving, Vodka glanced at his watch and saw that the hands pointed to a little past 9 o'clock.
"9:30?" He paused, feeling that something was off. Soon, the cadre realized what was going on and looked out the window at the building across the street.
—If I remember correctly, that department store closes and turns off its lights at 8 p.m., and apart from the food court on the 10th floor, the other floors are pitch black.
But now, no matter how you look at it, the entire building is clearly still lit up, and it should be in operation.
"So it's not 9:30 PM, but 9:30 AM?" Vodka looked bewildered. "But it's already completely dark—even in late autumn, it shouldn't be past 9 AM before dawn. Could it be... could this be the underworld?!"
Looking at the eerie building across the street, and then at this strange, empty private room, an organization cadre who had just woken up and whose mind was still a mess stood there, lost in thought.
...
Inside the department store, the brutal series of attacks came to a peaceful end.
On the other side, inside the black Porsche 356A, the air was rather heavy.
Vermouth sat in the back seat, using a small mirror to repair her damaged disguise, lost in thought as if pondering something of utmost importance.
In the driver's seat, Gin appeared no different from usual at first glance, but if Vodka were there, he would notice that this elite executive was noticeably more tense than usual—his eyes constantly scanned the surroundings, taking in every detail of the traffic, pedestrians, and the slightest changes on the road.
As Gin was driving leisurely towards the airport, his phone vibrated. Gin glanced at it and saw that it was Vodka calling.
"..."
He was too lazy to answer and hung up.
In the back row, Vermouth was jolted back to reality by the sudden commotion. She saw the caller ID and smiled, saying, "Aren't you going to answer? Vodka must be really eager to figure out what's going on."
Gin: "..." What's the point of answering? It's obvious that the idiot made that call to complain about Uzo, and probably even planned to hurl a few insults. But the person who tampered with the sushi...
