Qinghe, who was meditating and advancing in the Divine Tree Space, suddenly sneezed and abruptly opened his eyes.
As the white light gradually dissipated, Qinghe looked around, somewhat bewildered. "Who insulted me?"
Shen Xun glanced at her: "What's wrong? Did you fail to advance?"
Qinghe stood up, dusted off his clothes, and shook his head at him. "We were at a crucial moment, about to break through, but someone was cursing me behind my back, which made me sneeze. My spiritual energy dissipated and all of it was gone."
Shen Xun said regretfully, "That's a real pity."
Qinghe suddenly looked at him, narrowed her eyes, and asked suspiciously, "It's not you, is it?"
Shen Xun raised three fingers and said earnestly, "I swear to God I didn't."
Just as Qinghe distrusted him and was preparing to use torture to extract a confession, Lingxi floated in and said softly to the two of them, "Someone is coming."
Qinghe's eyes widened in surprise. "Who?"
Lingxi described the man's appearance, and Shenxun immediately responded, "It's Hensheng. We've been outside for too long, which has probably aroused his suspicion."
Qinghe thought for a moment and said to Lingxi, "We can't stay here any longer. Please take care of Qirong for me, senior. If he wakes up, please let me know immediately."
Lingxi said softly, "Don't worry, I will. After you leave, please don't reveal my existence to anyone, otherwise it will cause you trouble."
Qing nodded in agreement.
Before leaving, Qinghe glanced at Qirong, touched his dark hair, and then turned and left with Shenxun.
As soon as they left the Suoyao Temple, they saw Wen Sheng looking around in this direction from a short distance away.
The two figures flashed and hid behind another dilapidated palace, then calmly walked out.
The sound of footsteps rubbing together caught his attention, and he turned around to see Qing and Shen Xun walking slowly toward him.
He frowned upon hearing this, his expression turning serious. "Someone saw the two of you come here. Tell me, what is your purpose?"
Qing and Shen Xun exchanged a glance, feigning confusion, and asked, "Purpose?"
He snorted coldly, "All these dilapidated palaces, especially the Suoyao Divine Palace, are not places for servants like you. You must have some unspeakable secrets. Confess now!"
He circled the two men, his expression growing increasingly suspicious. "I've long suspected you two. I've never seen a newcomer come to the God Realm to report for duty in disguise. You must have something on your mind. Let me tell you, if you don't tell the truth, don't blame me for reporting to the God-King and sending you to the guillotine. Speak now!"
The two looked at each other, and after a moment of thought, Qinghe sighed, pretending to be frank: "Since you've found out, I'll tell you the truth."
Hearing this, he adopted an interrogation stance, squinting his eyes as he listened to her continue.
Qinghe looked up into the distance, her eyes deep and unfathomable. "It all started a long time ago. I remember when I was a little girl in the human world, I was innocent and carefree. Even though my family was poor, my family and I were still very happy every day."
Her words were so heartfelt and sincere that if Shen Xun hadn't already known her background, he might have believed her.
He looked at Wen Sheng and saw that although he had listened carefully, his expression was still doubtful. He obviously did not completely believe Qing He. He couldn't help but admire him in his heart. Indeed, he was a talented person who could not be misled by Qing He's words.
Half an hour later, he decided to withdraw the idea.
Qinghe began to speak at length: "But one day, an accident happened. It was a warm afternoon. My father and mother were taking a nap at home, and my younger sister and I were playing in the yard. The neighbors next door were tidying up the vines and trees in their yard. The branches were very forked, and they were pruning the branches. Suddenly, I felt a pang of heart palpitation. I had a premonition that death was about to come."
"At first, the dogs in the yard started barking wildly, the ground began to tremble, and tiles and bricks fell from the house. The neighbors realized something was wrong and desperately took out some important belongings from the house. My sister and I were too young to know what was happening, we just cried. The crying attracted the attention of the neighbors, and the male head of the household climbed over the wall and carried my sister and me out of the yard. I pointed desperately into the house and called for my parents, but the ground trembled more and more violently, and the house collapsed in an instant. My parents were buried in the rubble and never opened their eyes again until they died."
She paused, her voice choked with emotion, and said, "During our escape, the two neighbors were exhausted and fell to the ground. Just as the falling rocks were about to crush them, a red light suddenly appeared and saved us. That red light was none other than Lord Su Feng."
"My purpose in coming here is to repay Lord Sufeng for saving my life back then. The reason I disguised myself is because I don't want others to see my true appearance. Lord Sufeng saved my life, so my appearance belongs only to him. Anyone else who sees my appearance is disrespecting him."
These words were so cheesy that they gave Shen Xun goosebumps.
She looked at the dilapidated palace behind her. "The reason I came here is because I didn't know the way. I was originally looking for Lord Su Feng's bedroom, but I ended up here. Seeing all this ruins, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I thought of the homes destroyed by the earthquake and my parents who died in the epicenter. I was so sad that I couldn't pull myself out of it, so..."
A glistening tear seemed to glisten in her eyes; though she hadn't finished speaking, the desired effect had already been achieved.
Upon hearing these words, Wen Sheng's expression indeed became indescribable, changing from his initial imperious and serious demeanor to one of complexity and pity.
But he wasn't one to show his emotions easily; although he felt sympathy, he didn't show it very clearly on his face.
Having said all that, he couldn't bring himself to say anything harsh. He lowered his gaze, his tone softening as he said, "Alright, let's pretend this never happened. I won't pursue it further. Just don't come here again. This place is forbidden territory in the God Realm; it's not a place for you."
He turned his back to the two of them and said, "Let's go. Lord Su Feng wants to see you. I'll take you to his bedchamber." With that, he took the lead and led the way.
After walking a distance from the sound, Shen Xun nudged Qing He with his elbow and said jokingly, "Congratulations, you've successfully bewitched another kind-hearted boy."
Qinghe cleared her throat. "Are you praising me or insulting me?"
Shen Xun shrugged: "The words are crude, but the reasoning is sound. Speaking of which, your story is really well-crafted; I almost believed it myself."
Qing gave him a profound look, "You really believe this story is fake?"
Shen Xun was stunned: "Isn't that right?"
Qing smiled, said nothing more, and turned to follow the footsteps of the person who had heard the sound.
Shen Xun was left standing there, stunned and pondering, unable to figure out what Qing and that smile meant for a long time.
