Floating Life Pavilion.
Two figures stood in the center of the hall. Ji Yue bowed her head and confessed to the Grand Tutor, "Master, it is all my fault. First, I was attacked by the demons and failed to protect Ru Xing. Then I was captured by villains and they took advantage of my weakness. It is all my fault."
She stood there, staring intently at the ground, filled with deep regret.
I originally thought she would die in that forest, her soul devoured by the demonic ghosts, but who knew she would be taken away by someone.
She thought the two people were saving her out of kindness, but little did she know they were using her identity to infiltrate the Floating Life Pavilion.
It's all her fault for being careless. If she had known this would happen, she shouldn't have come back so soon. Not only did she cause Ruxing's death, but she also allowed people of unknown origin to infiltrate Fusheng Pavilion. Fortunately, it didn't cause any major chaos, otherwise she would never have been able to atone for her sins, even if she died.
"It's not your fault, don't blame yourself too much."
The Grand Tutor looked at her and spoke.
Jiyue said, "But Master..."
The Grand Tutor raised his hand to interrupt her, "That girl possesses secret treasures, and more than one at that. They are incredibly powerful; even I, as her teacher, might not be entirely confident in capturing her."
Ji Yue was slightly startled. Even her master was no match for that person?
She looked at the Grand Tutor, her mind filled with countless questions, but the Grand Tutor gazed into the distance, his eyes distant, as if he were thinking about something else.
After a moment, the Grand Tutor said to her, "Go down and investigate the murderer who has killed the disciples in the pavilion one after another in the past few days."
Ji Yue's eyes widened suddenly: "Isn't the murderer who killed my disciple the person who was impersonating him?"
The Grand Tutor didn't speak, but simply shook his head at her.
Seeing this, Ji Yue cupped her hands and said, "Disciple understands, disciple will go and investigate now."
After leaving the main hall, Ji Yue prepared to go to Nanshan Residence to inquire about the disciple who had witnessed the corpse. When she looked up, she saw a familiar yet repulsive figure.
Lingyun stood at a distance, watching her with a mocking expression: "Oh, isn't this Senior Sister? You were captured and taken prisoner, and you're back so soon?"
Ji Yue clenched her fists and said coldly, "I don't want to fight you today, get out of here!"
"If you tell me to get lost, I'll just leave. Wouldn't that make me lose face?" Lingyun tossed her hair and sneered, "I didn't come here today to fight you. I just wanted to see how pathetic you looked after being scolded by the Grand Tutor. That would be hilarious."
Ji Yue glared at her angrily, her eyes blazing with malice.
Several disciples passed by in the distance.
"Hey, hey, it's Senior Sister Jiyue and Lingyun."
"They're ready to fight at any moment."
"So, how about it, want to bet?"
"Betting my ass! Are you out of your mind?! If Senior Sister Jiyue finds out again, I'll be punished again. I don't want to copy the sect rules again!"
"Let's get away from this place of trouble, hurry up and leave!"
Before long, Lingyun also drifted away, leaving only Jiyue, who was being ridiculed and resentful.
In the distance, Zhou Xiaotong, hiding in a corner, quietly observed Ji Yue, her eyes fixed on Ji Yue's face, her expression showing longing and infatuation.
She murmured to herself, "What a beautiful face! It won't be long before it's mine!"
She clenched her hands tightly; those hands were already stained with the blood of her fellow disciples, and the next target would be Ji Yue.
That night, she went alone to the Trial Grounds of Life and Death. Standing before the steep cliffs, she felt her own insignificance.
When the disciples of the pavilion went to the Land of Life and Death, she secretly followed them all the way. She had never had the opportunity to participate in the trial before because she was dull-witted and lacked cultivation, and was bullied by people everywhere.
But things are different now. Ever since she acquired that magical power, it's as if she suddenly had an epiphany, and her cultivation level has skyrocketed. The feeling of spiritual energy filling her entire body is wonderful.
What does the land of life and death matter to her if she wants to? She can go in whenever she wants, and no one can stop her.
She grinned maliciously at the mountain wall, and began to gather power in her palm.
She slammed her hand against the gate on the mountain wall, her eyes gradually becoming excited and agitated.
The spiritual energy gathered and attacked the mountain gate. As it drew closer and closer, just as it was about to open the gate, it was intercepted by a terrifying external force.
Zhou Xiaotong's eyes widened suddenly.
The two forces collided without causing a loud noise. The black spiritual energy strands enveloped Zhou Xiaotong's spiritual energy, gradually wearing it down until it vanished into nothingness, and a thin mist rose in the air.
As the mist dissipated, a figure entirely in black stood before the mountain gate, blending seamlessly into the night.
Zhou Xiaotong's face was contorted with rage as she shouted at the shadowy figure, "Who are you?"
The shadowy figure seemed to move slightly, but his movements were obscured by the darkness of the night.
"Little girl, it's not safe for you to be out all alone at night." The voice was low, soft, and ethereal, sounding extremely terrifying in the endless darkness.
Zhou Xiaotong felt the powerful pressure emanating from the dark figure, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and felt somewhat intimidated. However, she remembered that she was no longer the weak person who could be bullied at will. She exhaled lightly and boldly said, "What do you want to do? I'm warning you, this is the territory of Fusheng Pavilion, and you can't be presumptuous here!"
The shadowy figure chuckled knowingly, "Floating Life Pavilion? I don't even consider it a threat. I'll destroy it sooner or later anyway."
Zhou Xiaotong felt a chill run down her spine, and she couldn't help but regret coming out tonight.
She stared intently at the dark figure, but her body was quietly retreating.
Due to nervousness, the spiritual energy in his palm rapidly condensed and suddenly hurled at the dark figure, his body instantly retreating as he attempted to escape.
Unexpectedly, the shadowy figure didn't take her meager strength seriously at all. He calmly raised his sleeve and swept it away, deflecting the attack. He then instantly teleported behind Zhou Xiaotong and struck out with a palm. Zhou Xiaotong leaned forward and suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
The ground was right in front of her, but the shadowy figure didn't give her a chance to land. It suddenly flashed in front of her, grabbed Zhou Xiaotong by the neck, and kicked her up with one hand.
The slender neck in the shadowy hand was like a fragile blade of grass, easily snapped.
Zhou Xiaotong's face turned red and blue from being choked. She couldn't say a word, only making muffled noises, her hands tightly gripping the hand that was choking her throat, trying desperately to break free.
The shadowy figure's face was hidden under his hood, half-hidden in the moonlight. A cold smile played on his lips, and his chilling eyes sent shivers down one's spine.
"I thought she was a beauty, but she turned out to be an ugly duckling. She's disgusting."
The mocking tone instantly struck Zhou Xiaotong's fragile and pitiful self-esteem. The thing she couldn't stand the most was someone calling her an ugly monster. Her whole face instantly turned ferocious and terrifying, and one hand transformed into a sharp claw, grabbing at the face of the dark figure.
"Want to kill me? You're far from it!"
He tightened his grip on Zhou Xiaotong's hand, and with his other hand, he suddenly lunged forward, and with a slight force, pierced through Zhou Xiaotong's chest.
In that instant, it felt as if all the blood in her body had been drained. Zhou Xiaotong opened her eyes wide and looked at her body, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Blood kept gushing from her body as the shadow pierced through her, leaving a horrifying bloody hole.
The light in his eyes gradually disappeared, and his hands finally lost their strength and fell limply to his sides.
