Chapter Ninety-Seven: The Sleeping Qi Rong

I have a pet and a lover all at once, I'm so happy!

If Qi Rong knew what she was thinking, she would definitely jump up in anger and question her: Do you love me or your pet?

However, he could not hear anything and lay quietly in the tree coffin, motionless.

The steady breathing told Qing and Qi Rong that she was still alive and well, and on the surface she looked as peaceful as if she were asleep.

She asked the sacred tree, "Did you save him?"

The divine tree shook its head: "He came back on his own. He was very weak when he came back, barely clinging to life. He looked like he was seriously injured."

The word "come back" was used quite cleverly, and judging from the tone of the divine tree, it seemed that he had known Qi Rong for a long time, and talking about Qi Rong was like talking about an old friend.

"Judging from your expression, you don't seem to know much about him," the divine tree said. "It's alright, let him tell you himself when he wakes up."

Qinghe stopped thinking and asked, "Can I take him with me?"

The divine tree disagreed: "No, the spiritual energy here is abundant, and only here can his injuries heal."

Qinghe nodded: "In that case, senior, may I stay here with him?"

The divine tree looked at Lingxi, and seeing her nod, it agreed, "Alright, you can stay here with him. I think he'll be very happy to see you the first thing he sees when he wakes up."

Qinghe bowed: "Thank you, senior. There is one more thing. Who exactly is that Lord Sufeng of the God Realm, and why does he look exactly like Qi Rong?"

The divine tree had already walked quite a distance when its voice came from afar: "Let him tell you this himself."

With a flash, he disappeared.

After the divine tree left, Lingxi floated to Qinghe's side and said softly, "Don't worry, his injuries have mostly healed, and I believe he will wake up soon."

Qinghe nodded and sat down beside the tree coffin to keep Qirong company.

Seeing this, Lingxi quietly floated away and stopped in front of Shen Xun, looking at him with gentle eyes and a sense of inquiry in her eyes.

Shen Xun's face was somewhat pale. He had used his spiritual power when he forced back the Cypress Leaf Needle, which aggravated his old injuries and left him somewhat physically exhausted.

He raised his hand to meet Lingxi's gaze and asked, "What is the goddess looking at?"

Lingxi's eyes darted around, and Shen Xun's figure was reflected in her pupils. She said softly, "I don't know why, but I always feel that you are familiar, as if I have seen you somewhere before."

Shen Xun remained expressionless and said calmly, "There are always similarities in the affairs of the world and among the people of the world."

Lingxi shook her head slightly and smiled, "It's different."

Shen Xun turned away, avoiding Ling Xi's gaze: "How is it different? Even a goddess as pure and ethereal as her is troubled by love. In the end, we are all just mortals."

These words pierced Lingxi's heart like a cold arrow. She lowered her head and drifted to the side, secretly grieving.

"Isn't that going too far?"

Qinghe appeared beside him at some point, expressing her disdain for his utterly heartless behavior.

"You say others are troubled by love, but aren't you the same?" She glanced at the red copper coin on Shen Xun's wrist and said teasingly, "Every time you're lost in thought, you touch this coin, just like I think Qi Rong touches her bracelet. I'm really curious where you get the right to say that about others."

Shen Xun raised an eyebrow: "It seems your observation skills are quite good. I really underestimated you."

Qinghe crossed his arms and said, "That's right."

"Then you must have discovered Qi Rong's true form."

Qinghe was taken aback, but when he met Shen Xun's amused smile, he immediately understood and sneered, "So you knew all along."

Shen Xun laughed and said, "I know far more about the Three Realms than this."

Qinghe was a little angry: "Then why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Shen Xun shrugged, feigning profundity, and said, "Heavenly secrets cannot be revealed."

Qing glanced at him coldly: "Then you must know what's going on with Su Feng."

Shen Xun repeated, "Heavenly secrets cannot be revealed."

Qinghe: "Are Sufeng and Qirong the same person, or twin foxes?"

Shen Xun: "Heavenly secrets cannot be revealed."

Qinghe: "..."

She gave him a cold glance and thought, "Fine, don't tell me then. I'll find out sooner or later anyway."

He sat back down beside the tree coffin, glanced at Qi Rong who was sleeping soundly inside, unaware of the world's affairs, and then closed his eyes to meditate.

After her heartbreak, Lingxi floated over again, looked at Qinghe who was meditating in front of her, and said to Shenxun, "I don't know who you are, but you have the aura of the gods. We must have met before, right?"

Shen Xun lowered his eyes: "I only met you once. At that time, you were still a holy goddess in the divine realm. I gazed at you from afar."

Lingxi looked at the white light in the distance, her voice ethereal: "In the blink of an eye, it's all become the past. Time really flies."

After a long while, Shen Xun looked at her and said, "You left behind a wisp of your soul, is there some unfulfilled wish?"

Lingxi smiled gently, "Indeed, I left behind this wisp of my soul not only to wait for the destined person to find the divine tree, but more importantly, I have a request to make of you."

Shen Xun rubbed the red string on his wrist with his fingers and said softly, "It's for your son, Mo Junqian, isn't it?"

The tone was declarative, clearly indicating that this was something they had already guessed.

Lingxi was taken aback, then her eyes widened suddenly. "You've seen my son?"

Shen Xun laughed and said, "Not only have I met him, but he is now a disciple of the Qingyun Sect and Qinghe's junior brother."

Shen Xun told Ling Xi about Mo Junqian's deeds, but deliberately omitted the matter of the divine pearl.

The sincere words reached Lingxi's ears, and although she had not experienced them firsthand, her eyes welled up with tears, and her face wore a happy smile.

When Shen Xun was halfway through his story, he saw Ling Xi's tearful face and stopped speaking.

She wiped away her tears and choked out, "My son has grown up, that's wonderful."

Shen Xun: "It's quite good. Do you want to see him?"

Lingxi looked at him with expectant eyes, but her gaze turned to sadness in an instant. "How can I go to see him looking like this?"

The souls formed from spiritual energy are unlike ordinary people; once they leave Mount Futu, they will vanish into nothingness.

Shen Xun replied, "That's easy, I'll help you."

Lingxi looked at him gratefully and said, "Thank you."

"But there's no such thing as a free lunch. I'm not helping you for free."

Lingxi smiled and asked, "What are your conditions?"

Shen Xun pondered for a moment, then said quietly, "Do you know that there was a traitor in the God Realm before, named Gong Xi?"

Upon hearing the name, Lingxi's gentle smile vanished instantly, replaced by disgust in her eyes.

She rarely acted this way towards anyone, but clearly this name had provoked her anger.

"What do you want with him? Do you know him?"

Shen Xun did not say it explicitly, but only said, "He took something very important from me, and I have to get it back."

Lingxi floated back and forth in front of him, her face showing a hint of annoyance. Clearly, this person named Gongxi was making her somewhat anxious.

After a long while, she calmed herself down and said to Shen Xun, "He is dead. He died a hundred years ago."
