After catching up, Miao'er turned and walked to the corner of the last row. Qinghe followed her and saw a thin disciple sitting in the corner behind her. His skin was sickly pale and he looked gloomy. He was focused on his book with his head down and did not look up until Miao'er sat next to him.
Miao'er's eyes were glued to Yuan Xiu. She ignored the people who were secretly watching her, her slender hands sliding across the table before finally reaching Yuan Xiu's arm, which was resting on the table. "Yuan Xiu, why didn't you come to see me yesterday?"
Although it was a question, the tone was as gentle as a warm spring day.
"I forgot."
He uttered two words without any intonation, his eyes never leaving the book on the table.
Miao'er wasn't angry at all, and still said gently, "How about today? Shall we go shopping together later?"
Yuan Xiu: "I'm going to cultivate in the back mountain."
Miao'er asked, feeling wronged, "When are you free?"
This time, Yuanxiu didn't answer and continued reading his book.
The teacher was still lecturing tirelessly, and the disciples below listened attentively. Miao'er called Yuanxiu a few more times, but when she saw that he ignored her, she lay bored on the table.
Qinghe looked at the two of them for a while and thought they were quite an interesting couple.
After spending the whole day eating, drinking, and shopping with Miao'er, Qinghe's legs were almost giving out. For the first time, she felt like she wasn't a woman at all; shopping was really not her thing.
After a day of torture, when I returned to my room, I saw Li Jiang and Mu Dong walking back as well. Both of them looked exhausted and their faces were dark, as if they had been abused.
Mu Dong: "I carried water so much that I can't lift my arms anymore."
Li Jiang: "My hands were worn raw from chopping wood."
Qinghe: "My legs are about to break from all the shopping."
"well."
The three individuals, all possessing high levels of cultivation, let out a sigh under the cold moonlight.
Mo Junqian walked over from a distance, carrying a strange odor. Mu Dong covered her nose and said, "You're not going to...?"
Mo Junqian said calmly, "Don't overthink it, it's just feeding the horses."
With a creak, Shen Xun pushed open the door and leaned against the doorframe: "Oh, the working people are back."
“It’s easy for you to say that when you’re not the one suffering,” Qinghe said, rubbing his leg. “I never imagined I’d become a child, someone who doesn’t have to do any work and is still so lovable.”
Shen Xun raised an eyebrow at her: "Because you're stupid."
Qinghe was too lazy to argue with him and went back to her room to rest.
The remaining people returned to their rooms one after another. Li Jiang looked at Lingyin's room and asked, "She's not back yet?"
Shen Xun nodded.
Li Jiang: "Could something have happened?"
"Don't worry," Shen Xun said, "This is Yujing Manor, not a den of thieves, nothing will happen."
Li Jiang thought about it and agreed, so she stopped asking and turned back to her room.
The next day, before dawn, a piercing rooster crowed outside. Qinghe turned over, grabbed the blanket, covered her head, and went back to sleep. The rooster outside wouldn't let up, determined to wake everyone up.
When Qinghe stood in front of Miao'er with dark circles under her eyes, the sun was already high in the sky. It was obvious that she was not qualified for the job of a maid, but Miao'er did not care too much and excitedly dragged Qinghe to go shopping.
Yesterday's experience was still fresh in her mind, and Qinghe tried to stop Miao'er: "Isn't there any other fun place to go?"
Miao'er thought for a moment and said, "There are some, but they are too dangerous. Your cultivation level is not high. If you get injured, Uncle Feng will definitely scold me."
Qinghe's goal at this moment was to avoid shopping if possible: "It's okay, isn't it, Miss, you're here to protect me?"
Miao'er herself really wanted to go. After thinking it over and over, she finally nodded: "I need to change my clothes before I go."
Two exceptionally handsome guests arrived at the brothel on the south street of Luochuan City a short while later.
Qinghe's lips twitched as he saw the four characters "风花雪月" (wind, flowers, snow, and moon) on the plaque, which were written in a flamboyant style.
"Miss, is this the fun and dangerous place you were talking about?"
Miao'er, dressed in men's clothing, held a bamboo fan and said nonchalantly, "That's right, that's what my senior brother told me. He said this place is both fun and dangerous, and warned me several times not to come, but I didn't believe him."
He closed his fan and strode forward: "Today, this young master will see if it's as he says. Let's go!"
Qinghe regained his composure, looked up at the sky, and resignedly followed.
Girls of all kinds were dressed up in flamboyant colors, heavily made up, and their sweet, cloying perfumes made people dizzy.
Qinghe wasn't good at these kinds of situations, but he was experienced. Miao'er, on the other hand, was as innocent as a blank sheet of paper. She usually only went shopping in peaceful and harmless places. When she saw this chaotic scene, she was at a loss.
The madam greeted them warmly, "Oh, you two gentlemen look unfamiliar. Is this your first time here? Our girls are top-notch beauties, please take your pick!"
Qinghe rescued Miao'er from the group of girls, and she patted her chest, saying in a daze, "Senior Brother didn't lie to me...it's really dangerous here."
Qinghe was amused by her appearance and was about to pull her out, but there were too many enemies, and the two of them were half pushed and half shoved up to the second floor.
The second floor was all rooms, from which soft, seductive sounds and unpleasant moans could be heard from time to time. Although Miao'er was naive, she knew what those sounds were, and her little face flushed red, which made her look rather cute.
As they walked into a room, the door was accidentally pushed open, and Qinghe glanced over and saw a familiar face.
Dressed in red with a black belt, her captivating eyes sparkled with a hint of red at the corners. A single glance from her mesmerized the girl playing the piano in front of her, causing her fingers to tremble slightly and nearly play the wrong note.
Miao'er trembled and quickly pulled Qinghe aside to hide him.
"What's wrong?"
Miao'er shushed her: "It's Senior Brother."
Qinghe raised an eyebrow. That guy was actually from Yujing Manor. His style seemed a bit out of place with the others.
"My eldest brother left the manor a long time ago. My father said that his fortune had reached a certain level, and the manor had nothing more to teach him, so he let him go out into the world on his own."
Miao'er earnestly explained to her, "However, it seems that Senior Brother's ambitions lie elsewhere. He opened a gambling den in Luochuan City and made a lot of money!"
Qing nodded in agreement. He had indeed made a lot of money; he didn't even flinch at the thought of earning five thousand taels.
Just as Miao'er was quietly preparing to leave with Qinghe, a gust of wind swept in, followed by a magnetic, languid voice: "Since you're already here, why not come in and have a drink?"
Knowing there was no way to avoid it, Miao'er reluctantly went inside. Upon seeing Qi Rong, she gave an awkward smile and said, "Senior Brother, it's been a long time."
Qi Rong finished his drink and looked at her: "You've gone crazy since the Master isn't here?"
She waved away the girl playing the music, her eyes filled with jealousy as she passed Miao'er.
