Chapter 3 The Mental Cheating Scumbag (3)

"Master, why did you transfer me away so suddenly? You didn't even discuss it with me."

Tao Rui sorted through the documents on his desk and said casually, "It's a good thing you're being transferred over. Lao Xiao is very experienced, and he has several good projects coming up. You're only able to go directly there because you performed well during your internship, otherwise you wouldn't have had such a good opportunity. You should be happy."

"Happy?" Meng Hui looked unconvinced. "My master suddenly doesn't want me anymore. Why should I be happy? I don't want to work on other projects. I only want to work on projects with you, Master! You taught me how to do things. You and I work together better than anyone else. We've always been a good pair. I don't understand why you transferred me away."

Tao Rui crossed his fingers on the table, looked up at her, and said in confusion, "What are you angry about? Angry that I didn't discuss this with you? You're about to be promoted, and I'm your boss. I think I have the authority to make comprehensive considerations and deploy employees, and I don't need to discuss this with you in advance."

His businesslike attitude immediately hurt Meng Hui. She looked at Tao Rui in disbelief. "Reassigning employees? Do you just treat me as an ordinary employee?"

"What else?" Tao Rui asked back as a matter of course, his expression impeccable, because to him, Meng Hui was just an ordinary employee and had no meaning at all.

The colleagues at the company couldn't hear what they were saying, but they could see through the glass that their conversation was not pleasant. Meng Hui usually laughed and joked at the company every day, and this was the first time she showed such an angry expression.

Old Xiao passed by and saw it. He walked over, opened the office door, and asked in confusion: "What's going on? Are you okay?"

Tao Rui waved his hand, leaned back in the leather chair, and smiled, "It's okay, we're just talking about the deployment. Meng Hui has another project I'm following up on, and she's handling the materials and clients. It should be completed in about half a month, and I'll report to you then."

Seeing that the matter was about to be finalized, Meng Hui couldn't hold back her temper and asked, "Did my sister-in-law say something?"

The door was open, and everyone outside the office heard it. They all stopped their work and looked over here. Even Lao Xiao was stunned for a moment, "What does this have to do with Tao Rui's wife?"

Tao Rui frowned. Before he could say anything, Meng Hui recounted their encounter at the mall the day before. Unconvinced, she said, "Master, I've been learning from you since I joined the company. It's been so long, and everyone knows I'm completely focused on my career and not interested in love. There's nothing innocent between us. If you're transferring me just because you're afraid my sister-in-law will get jealous, I won't accept that. My future is at stake, and I won't accept such an unreasonable excuse."

Everyone had a very good impression of Meng Hui: a top student, strong, generous, and not squeamish, she was a natural fit. Her sudden transfer had already been strange to everyone, and now, upon hearing the reason, they subconsciously felt a pity for her.

What kind of thing is this? Just because his boss's wife is inexplicably jealous, he's transferring her to avoid suspicion? Is he treating work like a game? If Du Yawen is jealous of everyone, does that mean all the female employees in the company are forbidden from interacting with Tao Rui? Is that unreasonable?

Meng Hui was very good at setting the pace, but Tao Rui's face darkened before anyone could think too much about it.

"I think you're being unreasonable. How can you bring up my wife when discussing business? It's just a normal job transfer. Who hasn't been transferred in the company? Why is there something special about you that can't be transferred?"

Because you've been with me since joining the company, dedicated to your career, and have performed exceptionally well, I'm giving you special consideration by letting you go to Lao Xiao's place. This is an opportunity others can't even dream of, but when it comes to you, it becomes an unreasonable request?

Get out! Reflect on your words and actions. This is a company, not a place for children to mess around."

"Master, I..."

"Get out. And don't call me master casually in the future. There are only superior-subordinate relationships in the company, not master-disciple relationships. Don't bring private jokes into the company." Tao Rui was merciless. After he finished speaking, he continued to look through the documents, and his attitude of sending the guest away was very clear.

No matter how shameless Meng Hui was, she couldn't stay there any longer, so she held her breath and quickly walked out of the office.

Seeing the girl's red eyes and the fact that she was about to cry, Lao Xiao kindly helped Tao Rui explain, "Meng Hui, don't misunderstand Tao Rui. He really thinks highly of you and wants to train you. He has his own work schedule and wants to take a break for a while. You don't have much work under him, so he transferred you to my project. If you work hard, your future will only be better. I won't let you down."

Meng Hui paused and looked back at Tao Rui, feeling somewhat regretful. She felt that Tao Rui might have done this for her own good, and she was arguing with him in front of so many people, which was really inappropriate.

But Tao Rui hadn't explained anything and treated her like a child playing house, not allowing her to call him "Master" in front of so many people. This was something she couldn't accept. Unable to swallow her pride, she turned and left.

Old Xiao shook his head and told everyone to disperse and get back to work.

He walked into the office, closed the door, and said, "You, you, a grown man, why are you arguing with a little girl? This is the first time Meng Hui has cried since joining the company, right? She treats you as her master."

"I don't think I did anything wrong." Tao Rui shrugged. "We should be more serious in the company in the future. Master-apprentice relationships are easy to lose control of. If she can't learn to control her emotions and maintain a good sense of proportion, then she needs more training."

His words touched Old Xiao deeply. "You really are a supporter of the younger generation and always consider the newcomers. I hope Meng Hui can figure this out. By the way, Meng Hui mentioned that... Yawen won't be really angry, right?"

Tao Rui said with a smile: "What's the connection? Do you think Yawen is jealous? We have been married for three years and she has never been jealous. Besides, we should keep public and private affairs separate. I am not the kind of person who indulges my wife's unreasonable behavior."

"That's right. I'm glad you're alright. I'll get busy now. Once Meng Hui has finished the handover, come report to me."

Lao Xiao left after saying this, leaving Tao Rui alone. He sighed as he looked at the documents on the table. He could understand every document because he knew them in his memory, but there seemed to be something between them, like a hundred years of internal energy that had been transferred to him but couldn't be used. He needed to familiarize himself with them again.

After sorting out the documents, he sorted out all the drawers and found a mobile phone case at the innermost of the locked drawer. It was given to the original owner by Meng Hui, who said it was funny and fun, so she ordered it for him as a joke.

This phone case and Meng Hui's are a pair. In the original script, the original owner always insisted that he had not done anything wrong, but from his action of locking the phone case, we know that he was pretending to be ignorant, which is not unfair at all.

The same goes for Meng Hui. She had an ambiguous relationship with a married man and even questioned him when he was trying to avoid suspicion, trying to make the ambiguity between them clear and making it clear that she wanted to develop the relationship further.

What could possibly be the outcome? Could a promising young woman like her be willing to be a mistress? She was clearly hoping the original owner would divorce and be with her, not considering that the original owner's daughter was only one year old at the time.

So he was not polite to Meng Hui at all. If it weren't for the fact that the whole company had a good impression of Meng Hui, he would have wanted to fire Meng Hui.

If ooc is too serious, it will cause a lot of unnecessary troubles, so it should be solved reasonably if possible.

He threw the phone case into the trash can, as well as the chewing gum, mini potted plant, and mouse pad that Meng Hui had bought on the table. This subtle attempt to surround the man with her aura only served to further prove that Meng Hui had done it on purpose.

Tao Rui suddenly became curious. In the original script, when the child was lost, Meng Hui answered the phone with her back to the child. Was it truly an unintentional mistake, too frightened to admit it, or was it intentional, intended to make the original owner resent his wife?

If she did it on purpose, Tao Rui felt that she was even worse than the original owner. It was a shame that the original script didn't find any clues even after calling the police, and in the end, it didn't mention whether Meng Hui had a direct connection to the missing child, so he didn't have to think so badly of her.

Anyway, he has kicked her out now. Even if they still have to work together for half a month to complete the last project, it will only be this half month. She doesn't need to think about anything she wants.

Meng Hui immediately discovered that all the little things belonging to Tao Rui had been cleared out.

In the past, she would feel a sweet sense of happiness every day when she saw Tao Rui using the things she gave him, eating the meals she ordered, and drinking the coffee she ground. But now, she felt that Tao Rui seemed to be distancing himself from her, as if he and her didn't have even a hair's worth of relationship anymore.

Meng Hui felt a little panicky. She touched the earrings she'd worn for the occasion and suddenly regretted asking Tao Rui to buy them for her. She couldn't help but take that tiny step forward. The conversation had really gotten to the point of reward, and she couldn't help but choose women's jewelry, testing Tao Rui's stance. She could attack or defend, and even if Tao Rui felt uncomfortable, she could always retreat to safety. She'd done that many times before. Why had Tao Rui suddenly drawn the line this time?

Meng Hui couldn't concentrate on anything the whole day, as all she could think about was Tao Rui ignoring her. She tried to find an excuse to go to Tao Rui's office, but Tao Rui was so businesslike that she couldn't do anything about it.

When it was time to get off work, Tao Rui was the first to leave. Meng Hui hurriedly chased him to the elevator and said, "Mr. Tao, why are you leaving so early? Although there's nothing to do right now, we can find new projects worth investing in..."

Tao Rui looked at the elevator numbers and said, "I'm going to take a break and won't be working on any new projects. If you find a suitable one, you can report it to Lao Xiao."

Meng Hui had previously thought he'd just been perfunctory about not taking on new projects, but now it seemed like he was actually planning a break. They'd been working together for nearly a year, and she knew how much he valued his work and how ambitious he was for his future. How could he possibly be taking a break at this point? This was the golden age of his life.

She asked her doubts, and Tao Rui walked into the elevator and said, "Plans can't keep up with changes. The most important things in each stage of life are different, and ideals will also change. I have my own plans."

The elevator doors closed, and Meng Hui felt a wave of discomfort, the kind of feeling where everything was out of control. Was Tao Rui suggesting a new ideal, a new plan? But she had no idea. They were together every day, and she hadn't noticed a single sign. She'd assumed they were so busy working together to take their careers to the next level. Who knew Tao Rui was just trying to rest after a busy day?

Someone she thought she knew well was suddenly shrouded in mystery, becoming completely unknown to her. This feeling was too painful. She refused to accept this outcome, nor did she want to be transferred to another department. She had to find a way out.
