boss
Huang Fuda contacted his agent that very day. When Sister Hua found out, she was furious. It wasn't for any other reason than that she had put in a lot of effort and spent a whole year trying to sign Huang Fuda.
The reasons for refusing were varied: he was too old to work for long, he planned to start a business, he had a formal job, it was unstable, he didn't want to travel frequently for work... He only told the truth at the end: he didn't want to appear in front of the camera.
She was about to give up when Huang Fuda's lover called him and asked if he still wanted to sign. Huang Fuda then agreed.
Sister Hua valued him highly and gave him the best resources among his peers, but unfortunately, her good intentions were wasted, and he still had to leave in the end.
"The penalty for breach of contract is 200,000 yuan. This was agreed upon beforehand. Huan, you don't have any objections, do you?"
"No."
Sister Hua looked impatient, as if she had swallowed a fly. After arranging for him to finish the schedule for the next few days, she immediately left.
Huang Fuda stood downstairs at the office building, somewhat reluctant to go out. It was too hot outside; he felt like he'd get burned. After a moment's hesitation, he put on sunglasses, opened his parasol, and slowly walked out. His car was parked in the underground parking lot, scorched like a sauna. He opened the car door and stood beside the car, holding his umbrella, waiting for the heat inside to dissipate.
Suddenly, a hand appeared behind Huang Fuda's waist. He turned his head and saw Lin Fengxiao.
Lin Fengxiao took out a bouquet of flowers, her smile as warm as the spring sun, and said, "I waited downstairs at your company all day, and I've finally seen you. Darling, let's go home."
Huang Fuda frowned and pushed Lin Fengxiao away, "What are you doing here?"
“I’ve come to pick you up and take you home. We’ll take Chenchen out for a nice meal tonight. Chenchen keeps asking where you went. Kids are so stubborn, but he really misses you.”
"Don't bring up Chenchen. We're over, and I won't stay in Chuandu anymore. Lin Fengxiao, I'll give you some face for the sake of our five years of friendship, so don't make things too ugly for me."
Lin Fengxiao's face stiffened. He grabbed Huang Fuda's arm and asked with a furrowed brow, "Where are you going? You still have two years left on your contract. How can you leave Chuandu?"
Huang Fuda shook off his hand, saying, "I'm terminating the contract."
"Where did you get so much money to pay the penalty for breach of contract..." Lin Fengxiao looked at him suspiciously, and after thinking for a moment, her face turned pale and then red. "Fang Chuan gave it to you, didn't he... Fang Chuan was on the other end of the phone. You slept with Fang Chuan last night! 200,000 for one night, that's a good price!!"
Lin Fengxiao threw the flowers on the ground, pointed at Huang Fuda's nose and cursed him as a bitch, spewing one vulgar word after another, making Huang Fuda so angry that he felt dizzy. He then grabbed Lin Fengxiao by the neck and slammed him against the car door.
"Shut up."
Lin Fengxiao kept yelling, alternating between insults and pleas, which was really annoying to watch and listen to. Huang Fuda didn't want to waste any more words on him, so he threw him aside and got into the car, but Lin Fengxiao grabbed the car door again.
Lin Fengxiao reverted to his friendly and considerate demeanor, saying, "It's okay that you cheated on me, we're even. You come home with me, and we'll pretend nothing happened."
"Even?" Huang Fuda laughed in anger. "Come talk to me about this after you've been drugged for three years."
Huang Fuda started his car, ignored him, and drove off. Fang Chuan had already transferred the 200,000 yuan penalty for breach of contract to him and sent Huang Fuda photos of several houses, asking him which one he liked.
I'll rent the apartment myself; you don't need to pay anything.
[I'm charging you rent, so hurry up and choose one, or don't you like any of these?]
"Mr. Fang, I can't afford to rent a villa, so please don't bother."
Fang Chuan looked at the message, then leaned back on the sofa, feeling dejected. The road ahead was long and arduous.
After finishing their conversation, Fang Chuan picked up the report his assistant had just given him from the coffee table.
Obenciote, for the treatment of hyperhidrosis...
Anticholine... affects the central nervous system, causing blurred thinking, mental fog, and memory loss...
Taking this medication concurrently with anti-epileptic drugs (such as [unspecified medication]) may worsen its effects on the central nervous system…
As he read through the list, Fang Chuan's face grew increasingly dark. He couldn't quite hear how long that man surnamed Lin had fed him, as he was outside the door at the time. He realized he hadn't been gentle enough.
Fang Chuan threw down the paper, whistled, and Gouzi came running over. He picked up the dog and asked, "Your master is soft-hearted and can't bring himself to do it. Should I help him out?"
Woof!
"Good dog, I'll listen to you."
Huang Fuda has been having a lot of troubles lately. The apartment the real estate agent found for him isn't good, the gym won't refund his annual membership, and Lin Fengxiao keeps calling him from different numbers every day, even after he blocks her, she keeps harassing him on different platforms. Also, he's going to that swimsuit show the day after tomorrow, but he still has some marks on his body, and he's sure to get some eye-rolls from the makeup artist.
He put those things aside for now and called a moving company to Lin Fengxiao's house. Actually, he didn't have any large belongings there, but he didn't want to move them around himself because Lin Fengxiao's house didn't have an elevator.
In the past, he would have moved the goods himself to save money, but things are different now. His pampered nature has been brought out again, and he's become lazy.
At this moment, he was leaning against the wall of Lin Fengxiao's house, directing the moving company people to help him pack his things. Three workers came and packed out three large boxes.
Lin Fengxiao stood aside watching him without saying a word. Chenchen also stayed in the small bedroom and wouldn't come out; the door was locked tight.
After an hour of fussing, as the workers were carrying their things out and Huang Fuda was about to turn and leave, Lin Fengxiao finally spoke.
Is there absolutely no room for negotiation?
Huang Fuda, with his back to him, turned his head slightly and said, "Lin Fengxiao, I can tolerate everything else, but not this. I haven't lived enough yet."
The suitcases were moved to the temporary hotel, and the matter of finding a place to rent could not be delayed any longer. He contacted an agency, picked a room that would do, and then called a moving company to move everything to the new house. He also arranged for his car to be transported, as the journey was too far and would take more than ten hours by car, which would be exhausting.
While he was setting up his new home, Fang Chuan sent him a message asking for the address of his new home, saying he wanted to come and visit.
[Unit 2, Building 5, Qiaoshan Villa]
Fang Chuan paused in his act of taking off his shoes. A neighborhood? Wasn't this forcing him to make a mistake?
She quickly changed out of her suit and put on a black tight-fitting vest and loose jeans. Looking in the mirror, she realized that black was slimming and her waist looked thinner. If Huang Fuda still didn't like her broad shoulders and narrow waist, he would be too picky.
He led the black cat and white dog, strolling leisurely to the building across the street. Crickets chirped incessantly among the trees, the fragrance of unknown flowers filled the air, the wind was gentle, and the grass was green. Fang Chuan stood at the entrance of Unit 2, looking up at the windows towards the 7th floor, and dialed Huang Fuda's number.
"I'm downstairs at your place, open the door."
"Huh? So fast."
"Yes, I flew here."
Not long after, there was a knock on Huang Fuda's door. He opened the door and his calf was brushed against by a white ball of fur several times. Huang Fuda looked down, raised his eyebrows, squatted down, and reached out to tease the two little ones.
Seeing this, Fang Chuan narrowed his eyes, squatted down, and rubbed his head against Huang Fuda's head, saying, "There's another one here, don't neglect me."
Huang Fuda looked up at Fang Chuan, who was looking down for a pat, smiled, and then casually stroked the back of Fang Chuan's head a few times. It was a little prickly, but felt very familiar.
"Excuse me, please come in."
He stood up and moved aside to let Fang Chuan touch the back of his head, still squatting in the same spot.
Huang Fuda called out, "Fang Chuan."
Fang Chuan immediately looked up, gave Huang Fuda a bright smile, and got up to lead the cat and dog inside. He acted as if he were one of the guests and began to survey the entire house. It was a two-bedroom, one-living room apartment with only basic furniture; three large boxes sat empty in the living room.
"Didn't you ask me why I came so quickly?" Fang Chuan turned around, beckoned Huang Fuda with his finger, and gestured for him to follow.
"I live in the building opposite yours."
Huang Fuda looked out the window in the direction Fang Chuan was pointing. "What a coincidence."
Fang Chuan turned around, leaning against the glass to face Huang Fuda, tilted his head, and said with a smile, "This is fate."
The young man smiled handsomely, standing with his back to the light, yet he was too dazzling.
Huang Fuda turned and walked into the room, saying softly, "They've both grown so big."
"I've raised them quite well, haven't I?"
"good."
Fang Chuan walked up to him and began to complain: "You two bastards, this year you broke three of my TVs, chewed up a sofa and a computer, and smashed more than a dozen of my flower pots."
Huang Fuda chuckled, "He looks quite well-behaved."
"They haven't even fought yet." Fang Chuan tied the two running dogs to the doorway and looked at the three boxes in the living room. "Let me help you pack them up."
The two spent over an hour tidying up before finally sitting down on the sofa together.
Huang Fuda said regretfully, "I forgot to call a housekeeper first."
"It's okay, it's the same whether you pay me or not." Fang Chuan turned to look at him with a grin, "I'm cheap, just treat me to a meal."
"Okay, I'll take you to eat in a bit."
Fang Chuan insisted, "I want to eat what you made."
"You're still missing something, aren't you? Let's go to the supermarket and buy everything we need." Fang Chuan stood up, looked down at him, and said, "Let's go."
Huang Fuda looked up at him and asked, "Isn't Mr. Fang busy with work?"
"If I have to manage everything, what's the point of having those people below me?"
As dusk fell, Huang Fuda drove Fang Chuan to the supermarket. Fang Chuan sat in the passenger seat, feeling extremely uncomfortable. He was not used to Huang Fuda being his driver before.
Fang Chuan kept turning his head to look at him, leaving Huang Fuda completely bewildered.
Why are you staring at me like that?
"How about... I drive?" Fang Chuan shifted his hips uncomfortably.
Huang Fuda chuckled lightly, "You're a guest, how can I let you drive? Which way is the next intersection?"
"Turn right, and you'll see the supermarket soon."
The two bought a lot of things at the mall, filling the car to the brim. Luckily, Huang Fuda's car was an SUV, otherwise it really wouldn't have been able to fit everything.
Fang Chuan didn't quite like Huang Fuda's car; it was too small and made him feel cramped. He wanted to get him a new one but didn't know how to bring it up. He also wanted Huang Fuda to look at houses. Although they were quite close now, which was nice, the sight of them separated by windows in two different buildings still felt a bit melancholic, like the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl separated by the Milky Way.
The two signed a contract the next day. Fang Chuan would not interfere with the hotel's operation and management at all, and would only ask for 10% of the hotel's monthly profits as repayment, which would continue until the debt was fully repaid.
His eyes were fixed on Huang Fuda's hand as he signed and pressed his fingerprint. After everything was done, he gently called out, "Boss."
Huang Fuda looked up. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to call you."
