I'm not sick.
The smell of disinfectant filled the air. There was no sound on the other end of the phone for a long time. After a while, Fang's mother finally said, "I think it's not him who's sick, it's you. You should go home right now."
"I'm not sick. I've said it before, liking men isn't a disease. I can't leave either; I have to wait for Boss Huang to wake up."
Fang Chuan didn't want to listen to his mother's nagging anymore, so he immediately hung up the phone and continued watching Huang Fuda. The doctor said it might be a post-traumatic stress reaction. Fang Chuan couldn't understand it; his boss Huang shouldn't be such a fragile person, so how could he have experienced a second stress reaction?
Gently lift Huang Fuda's hand, which had just had the needle removed, and bring it to your lips, carefully kissing it.
How could he have put his boss, Mr. Huang, in the hospital? He's cherished him for so long, he couldn't bear to see him suffer even the slightest breeze, yet he ended up in the hospital instead.
Fang Chuan thought carefully about what happened that night, but he still couldn't figure it out.
Huang Fuda's work is currently being handled by Assistant Li, so there aren't any important messages on his phone. There's only one contact, labeled "Secretary Wang Shuhe," which sent a message inexplicably in the morning.
[Young Master Huang, it's almost time. Have you made up your mind?]
Fang Chuan didn't reply at the time, so he waited until evening when the other party called again.
Seeing that Wang Shuhe was so persistent, Fang Chuan answered the call for his boss, Mr. Huang.
He cleared his throat and greeted, "Hello."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then a question was asked: "...Hello, where is Young Master Huang?"
Hearing that address again, Fang Chuan felt a lump in his throat and inexplicably irritated.
"He's asleep. Just tell me if you need anything."
"Excuse me, please let Young Master Huang take the call."
Fang Chuan glanced at Huang Fuda, who had just settled down, and replied, "He's not available right now. I'll have him call back when he wakes up."
"How much longer?"
"I don't know, I'll tell him when he's sober." Fang Chuan was getting impatient.
"...Where is he now?"
"What's it to you?"
There was no sound on the other end of the phone, followed by two beeps, and Wang Shuhe hung up.
Fang Chuan put the phone back where it was and continued to sit by the hospital bed, holding Huang Fuda's hand.
After an unknown amount of time, there was a knock on the ward door, followed by its opening. An office worker in a black suit and black-rimmed glasses walked in, carrying a briefcase. He walked to the bedside, looked at Huang Fuda, and then reached out his hand to Fang Chuan, who looked haggard.
"Hello, this is Wang Shuhe. Were you the one who answered the phone?"
Fang Chuan frowned as he looked at Wang Shuhe, who had come uninvited. He didn't shake Wang Shuhe's hand, but instead looked up and asked, "How did you find me here?"
Seeing that he was not cooperating, Wang Shuhe simply nodded politely, walked out, and returned to the ward a moment later to take a picture of Huang Fuda with his phone.
He started calling people he didn't know.
"Mr. Yun, the doctor said it's post-traumatic stress... Yes, he's in the Third Hospital... He's been unconscious for 48 hours... He's Mr. Wu's son from Tiancheng... Okay."
From the moment he heard the name "General Manager Yun," Fang Chuan immediately became alert. Now that Wang Shuhe had finished the call, he immediately asked, "Whose call was that, Yun Ge?"
Wang Shuhe didn't respond, but just smiled politely again, then walked to the bedside, called Huang Fuda twice, and seeing that there was still no response, she walked straight out of the ward.
Seeing his attitude and reaction, Fang Chuan felt extremely uneasy. He stood up and stared blankly at Huang Fuda for a while, then lay down next to his boss. The bed was small, and half of his body was off the edge, so he could only shrink himself down, holding Huang Fuda tightly with both hands, as if afraid of being snatched away.
He lay there for an unknown amount of time when Wang Shuhe came in with five or six people. Seeing him curled up next to Huang Fuda, she said, "Fang, can you get down first?"
Fang Chuan stared intently at them, then hugged Huang Fuda in his arms even tighter.
What are you going to do?
Wang Shuhe gestured to the people around her, and then two people stepped forward and pulled Fang Chuan down.
Huang Fuda slept for 48 hours, while Fang Chuan hadn't slept for 48 hours. His eyes were red and bloodshot, and he angrily shouted at Wang Shuhe, "Where are you taking him! Where is Yun Ge taking him! Don't take him! Leave him here! I beg you, leave him here! Give him back to me..."
He was held aside, struggling incessantly, watching helplessly as his boss, Mr. Huang, was pushed away, and he could do nothing about it.
Once the room was completely empty, Fang Chuan immediately peered out the window, but there was nothing there. He then hurriedly ran downstairs, asking around as he went. When he arrived at the location people had described, all he found was an empty hospital bed, still warm from Huang Fuda's body.
He randomly grabbed someone nearby and quickly asked, "Where did the person in this hospital bed go?"
The man shook his head.
He grabbed another person and asked them a question, but was called a lunatic.
He ran back upstairs, intending to use Huang Fuda's phone to call Wang Shuhe, only to find that the phone had already been taken.
Fang Chuan stood in the empty hospital room, feeling lost. His boss, Mr. Huang, was gone. Where should he go now?
He didn't want to go home, didn't want to go back to the apartment, so he went back to the hotel suite and curled up on the bed, clutching Huang Fuda's clothes. He felt panicked and uncomfortable; his hands trembled, and he kept scratching at his heart, but it was no use.
Fang's mother called again, and he snapped out of his daze, quickly answering the phone and pleading, "Mom, Huang Fuda has been taken away by Yun Ge. Please help me find out where Boss Huang has been taken. Please, please."
"You go home first."
Fang Chuan sat up, put on his slippers, and was about to go out when he went halfway back inside. He grabbed a pair of pajamas that Boss Huang had just changed out of, and awkwardly put them over his hoodie. He then hailed a taxi and went home.
The house didn't feel like a home at all; it was cold and desolate everywhere. Fang Chuan huddled on the sofa, his neck drooping, lost in his own world. His parents stood in front of the sofa, arguing fiercely.
"I suggested sending him abroad to study, but you refused and insisted on keeping him by your side. Now look what's happened, he's been bewitched by another man, what kind of behavior is this!" Mr. Fang said angrily.
“I only have one son, so of course he should stay by my side. Unlike you, Dean Fang, who is never short of people around you.”
"Then why did you indulge him? Are you happy with things turning out this way?"
"If we don't go all the way, who knows how things will turn out between them in the future?"
Fang's mother stopped arguing with him, turned around and sat down next to Fang Chuan, gently hugging him. "Xiao Chuan, you're still young. It's not your fault that you were tempted by this kind of person. But please don't go there so often in the future. Okay?"
"Mom," Fang Chuan called out, then said, "Didn't you say you would help me find him?"
Fang's mother's expression froze for a moment, but she quickly recovered. Her eyes were gentle as she patted Fang Chuan's back soothingly, "Mom understands you. But if the Yun family wants to hide someone, who can find them? They'll come out naturally once Boss Huang wakes up."
"...What if Yun Ge doesn't release him? What if Boss Huang wakes up...but doesn't wake up?"
"How could he not wake up? His Cloud Island is still waiting for him."
Fang Chuan's eyes gradually lit up, and despite his family's objections, he returned to the hotel suite.
He was used to coming and going, and the people inside never stopped him. He also saw Assistant Li, who had just finished working overtime, and Fang Chuan called out to him.
"Assistant Li, do you have Yun Ge's phone number?"
"I only have his secretary."
Fang Chuan said urgently, "The secretary's will do too, send it to me quickly."
The secretary's assistant answered the phone first, saying she would relay the message to Secretary Wang, but after a long time, there was still no news. He called repeatedly, only to be repeatedly told to wait. Even with a secretary, he couldn't get a single word out.
It was already late at night, so Fang Chuan decided to get a good night's sleep and go directly to Yunge Company to confront them the next day.
He piled all of Mr. Huang's clothes on the bed, buried himself in them, and fell into a deep sleep, inhaling the last trace of their scent.
Huang Fuda, however, did not sleep peacefully at the Yun family's house.
The events of the night Xiao Feng died kept replaying in his mind: Xiao Feng running excitedly towards him, Xiao Feng having an asthma attack in terror, Xiao Feng slipping and falling at the door, Xiao Feng staring wide-eyed and motionless. He wanted to call out, wanted the person on top of him to turn around and look at him, but he couldn't utter a sound. A cold hand, reeking of alcohol, remained over his mouth, and he could only mutter one sentence: "Don't call me brother, I'm not your brother."
He felt as if ice was sliding across his head and face, and Huang Fuda shuddered violently, struggling even more fiercely.
Yunge withdrew his hand and asked the doctor beside him calmly, "When will he wake up?"
"Mr. Yun, it's hard to say, but things will get better faster in a good environment."
“I’m paying you to support me, not to listen to this.” Yun Ge glanced at him lazily.
The doctor gave an awkward laugh, then said, "We need to observe him for a while longer today."
Yunge waved him away, stood by the bed, and listened to Huang Fuda babbling incoherently in his sleep. After hearing the man call him "brother" for the seventh time, Yunge turned and went out, returning a short while later with a little girl.
He bent down and said to the little girl as gently as possible, "Yang Xinxing, go and stay with Uncle Huang for a while."
The little girl tiptoed over, peeked at the person on the bed, and excitedly ran over, shouting, "Daddy!"
After calling Huang Fuda several times, and seeing that he still didn't respond, Xiao Xingxing turned around and asked Yun Ge, "Uncle Yun, why is Daddy still sleeping?"
"He's sleepy, why don't you talk to him?"
Yun Ge didn't stay any longer. As usual, he sat in the tea room, skillfully skimming the foam, rubbing the tea leaves, and shaking out the aroma, while listening to Secretary Wang's work report.
"Yes, Mr. Yun, recently Young Master Huang has only had Fang Chuan by his side. The two often stay together, as if they have confirmed their relationship."
Yung poured the tea over the tea pet and said, "Call him back. I need to see him at 9 a.m. tomorrow."
After receiving the call, Fang Chuan was still a little dazed. Could they really meet so easily? He went to the bathroom to wash his face, shaved his beard, changed into clean clothes, and went to the Yun family's company as agreed.
Then I waited in the corridor all morning.
