The boss's mistress
Outside the emergency room of the Third People's Hospital of Xianye City.
The hospital corridor was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and several people stood in a small circle.
"We've searched the accident scene thoroughly, but the item isn't there." Lin Xiting's face was grim.
"What did the truck driver say?" Huang Fuda asked.
"They insist that it was Lao Liu's car that suddenly went out of control, and that he couldn't brake in time, which is why he crashed into him."
On his way back, Lao Liu was followed by a large truck, but it didn't do anything out of line. However, a nail punctured one of his tires. Just as Lao Liu was accelerating to shake off the truck on the highway, the tire suddenly burst. His car became uncontrollable, and the truck behind him ran him over.
Huang Fuda looked solemn, and after pondering for a moment, he straightened up.
"Let's ask Lao Liu again when he wakes up." He paused for a moment, "Where's the bag with the documents?"
"The package is still here, only the documents are gone."
Huang Fuda scoffed, his eyes gloomy. Where could it go? It would either be taken by the truck driver or by the people cleaning up the scene.
"Where's the dashcam?"
"The truck's video recording stops at the moment of the accident, and then it stops. They said it was quite old and short-circuited after the impact—"
"...Old Liu's camera couldn't capture the inside of the car."
The corridor suddenly became noisy as several people carried a stretcher toward the emergency room. Fang Chuan stepped aside to let the passing medical staff pass. After the corridor returned to calm, he looked at Huang Fuda, who was leaning against the wall with his eyes closed in silence, and asked, "Our contract is gone, but the seller should still have one. We can just go and get a replacement, right?"
Huang Fuda didn't speak. He looked through the window of the emergency room at Lao Liu, who was still unconscious after the surgery, and felt heavy-hearted.
Fang Chuan was thinking too simply. If he could do something that could kill people, he'd probably lose the contract over there too.
But he couldn't leave anything unsaid, so he asked his assistant, Li, to contact the seller. The seller replied that it had been a long time and they might not be able to find it, but they would look carefully.
Huang Fuda had given up hope; he needed to find a way to establish a relationship with the person in charge there.
If it were Cloud Island in Fairy Leaf City, he would have some connections, making things easier. But now, he'd probably have to make the trip himself.
The sky darkened, thick black clouds pressed down on the city, and large raindrops soon began to pelt the car roof. Huang Fuda sat in the dark car, gazing at the city ravaged by the night rain, his limbs icy cold, feeling a bone-chilling cold.
His hands were frozen stiff as he carefully carried a worn-out, half-person-high black rubber bucket towards the pigpen, which was full of pig feed and he couldn't let it spill.
A woman's high-pitched, sharp shout came from behind.
"Brother! Hurry! Go keep an eye on your little brother, don't let him fall!"
He responded softly, quickened his pace, and the bucket swayed from side to side, spilling water all the way.
Looking at the pig feed that had been soaked for half the distance, his heart pounded and his body trembled slightly.
Snap!
His already malnourished and frail body was slapped to the ground from the back of his head.
His face was pressed against the pig feed on the ground, hot and sticky.
"We feed you and give you water! You can't even do this little thing!" the woman shouted.
She heard a child crying inside the house. She hurried inside, but turned back at the door and said with disgust, "You'll sleep in the pigsty tonight, so you'll learn your lesson."
Night fell quickly, and dark clouds rolled in, bringing a heavy rain.
The pigsty had a roof and didn't leak, which was a good thing. It was just that he had no clothes and was cold. So he squeezed in among a few pigs, who were warm.
Lightning flashed and the lights inside the house shone in turn, one cold, the other warm.
He watched the spiders weaving their webs on the ceiling by the dim light.
Round and round.
Then he fell asleep.
A soft, foul-smelling, slimy object rubbed against his face. He opened his eyes to see two pig heads with gleaming eyes.
Pig saliva dripped onto his face, and he stood up in alarm, only to have his hair tugged.
There was another one chewing his hair.
He scrambled out of the pigsty, shrank to the doorway, and pounded on it.
An animated film was playing loudly inside, mixed with laughter and shouting, and thunder rumbled in waves, but no one heard him.
They said, "It's raining so hard today, the thunder is so loud."
The rain, carrying a cold wind, lashed against his body, leaving him feeling icy cold.
He lowered his hand from the door and sat down by the door, hugging himself. A flash of lightning illuminated the sky, and he saw the guard dog beside him, also looking at him from its kennel. There was a mat in the kennel, which was for the dog.
He wanted to sleep on the mat, but he didn't dare, afraid that he would wake up to find himself a pile of bones that had been gnawed clean.
Next to the main house was a storage room. He opened the door, trembling, and went inside. There was no light, and newspapers were pasted on the windows, making the whole room pitch black. He leaned against the grain sacks, staring wide-eyed at his surroundings, but he couldn't fall asleep.
Huang Fuda was breathing rapidly and shallowly, his face pale. Fang Chuan noticed that something was wrong with him and turned to look at him during a break from driving.
"Boss, Mr. Huang?"
Huang Fuda did not respond.
Fang Chuan stepped on the brakes and stopped on the side of the road.
"Huang Fuda?" Fang Chuan reached out and shook his leg.
Huang Fuda slowly raised his head, his chest heaving violently.
He blinked slowly: "Have we arrived at the company?"
Fang Chuan raised his hand and brushed Huang Fuda's hair aside to carefully examine his condition.
My condition is not good.
"Should we go back and rest today?"
"No, take me back to my office. You can go home tonight, no need to pick me up, I live on Yun Island across the street."
Fang Chuan frowned. "Boss, you're only 28. You need to take care of your health. You're almost 30. Don't you realize that?"
"..." Huang Fuda pinched his eyebrows. "Too talkative."
He resumed his original posture and looked out the car window.
"I'm going to the company, I'm in a hurry."
Fang Chuan reluctantly started the car and drove his boss to his destination.
The receptionist waited outside the back door of the car with an umbrella. The wind and rain outside were getting heavier, and the rain soaked half of her body.
Huang Fuda knocked on the window glass, signaling the receptionist to come closer, then lowered the car window a little and said, "Go get another one."
Upon arriving at his office, Huang Fuda called over Secretary Li, who had returned earlier.
"I've looked at the quote you gave me, it's acceptable. Schedule a time, the sooner the better, to sign the contract."
Huang Fuda looked up and asked Secretary Li, "Is Yun Ge going to the Yunshan Orphanage tomorrow?"
"Yes, boss, at ten o'clock in the morning."
"Okay, notify the marketing department to come to the meeting room in 15 minutes."
Huang Fuda walked into the conference room, glanced around at the employees present, and noticed that two people were missing.
He sat down and smiled at his employees.
The marketing department informed him that two people had gone out on an inspection tour and wouldn't be back in time.
Huang Fuda nodded and began to get to the point.
He plans to launch a trial voucher program. Before the Yundao Bathing Beach is completed, all guests who stay at the hotel in Yundao will be eligible to participate in a lucky draw, with the prize being a trial voucher for the bathing beach.
There are a total of 5 Yundao stores in Xianye City. He will only expand 2 of them, and the names of the other two stores will be changed to Yunquanhui.
He wants to create a buzz before the renovations are even finished.
Huang Fuda added, "The experience vouchers won in the lottery aren't free; you have to buy them for 1 yuan. We've also contacted several restaurants and shopping malls to discuss collaborations. We'll draft a proposal and submit it this Friday."
"Wouldn't it be better to just give it away for free?" a newcomer asked.
Huang Fuda smiled at him and gently explained, "Free things are always hard to appreciate."
After the meeting, Huang Fuda returned to his office. His nerves, which had been tense all day, relaxed, and fatigue instantly overwhelmed him.
He took out his phone and invited two male companions to come to Yundao Island to sleep with him.
As usual, he told them that a driver would pick them up, but then regretted it after sending the message.
Old Liu is hospitalized, and Xiao Zhang went home to visit him but hasn't returned yet, leaving only Fang Chuan.
Send Fang Chuan? No matter how I think about it, that won't work.
So he sent them another message, telling them to take a taxi themselves.
Huang Fuda went downstairs, grabbed an umbrella, and planned to walk across the street to Yundao Island, but then he saw his car lights flash twice and Fang Chuan was still in the car.
He walked to the car and asked, "Why haven't you gone back yet?"
He was originally going to go back, but seeing Huang Fuda's state in the car, he couldn't help but feel uneasy, and before he knew it, it was 10 p.m.
"I accidentally fell asleep in the car, and when I woke up I saw my boss come out."
Outside, a light drizzle began to fall. Fang Chuan rested his arm on the car window, looked up, squinted, and smiled at Boss Huang.
"Boss, I can give you a ride home since it's on my way."
"No need, I'm staying on Cloud Island tonight. You should hurry back." Huang Fuda raised his hand to check his watch; the two men should be arriving soon.
Why isn't he going home? Why is he checking the time? Is something wrong? Does he have an appointment at this time?
No, he said he was going to Cloud Island.
"Boss, it's still more comfortable to sleep at home. I'll pick you up early tomorrow morning, it won't take much time on the road," Fang Chuan cautiously probed.
Huang Fuda looked down at him. This kid was still like this, not giving up. He couldn't keep him around forever.
Are you ordering me around?
Fang Chuan was shocked and his tone was exaggerated: "How could that be! I was just making a suggestion. If the boss doesn't want to reply, then he doesn't have to. How dare I order you—Boss Huang—"
I waited for you in the car for so long, and this is what I got in return? My good intentions were wasted on a yellow dog.
Huang Fuda glanced at the time again: "Go back quickly, it's getting late. Wait for me in the car at 9:20 tomorrow morning."
"It's getting late, boss, can I sleep on Cloud Island? This time I definitely won't make a mistake."
Huang Fuda took out a gold-edged black card and handed it to Fang Chuan: "Go to the front desk and book any room." Then he left first.
Fang Chuan held the card, inwardly cursing himself for being crazy. The bed in the apartment was hundreds of times more comfortable than the one on his Cloud Island, so why was he sleeping here?
After Huang Fuda entered Yun Island, he drove back to his apartment.
Thinking while driving.
Will he be angry when he finds out tomorrow? What was wrong with him in the car today? Won't he be scared tonight alone?
As I was thinking, the car somehow turned around and drove back to Yun Island.
He walked into the hotel lobby and handed his card to the receptionist. The receptionist already recognized him. "Which room do you want? It's raining today, so there are plenty of rooms available."
"I want the most expensive one."
Standing here, looking at the Cloud Island Hall, Fang Chuan felt even more insane.
Just then, a handsome man wearing cologne walked by.
"Has Mr. Huang arrived yet?" the handsome man asked.
The receptionist looked up at him and said, "We've arrived. One person has already gone up."
The handsome man said thank you and took the elevator upstairs.
Fang Chuan watched him enter the elevator, then turned to the receptionist with a smile and asked, "Who is that?"
The receptionist winked at him knowingly and handed him the room key.
"The boss's little mistress, haven't you ever picked her up or dropped her off? Oh right, I think that used to be Little Zhang's job."
Oh—that driver.
Great, even the drivers have clearly defined roles.
He took the elevator and, as if possessed, went up to Huang Fuda's floor. The hallway was empty, and he couldn't control his feet, so he walked right up to Huang Fuda's suite.
I pressed my ear against the door, but I couldn't hear anything.
A fire ignited in Fang Chuan's heart.
Suddenly, he found himself somewhat ridiculous. What was their relationship? They'd only slept together for two nights. He wasn't even a lover; what was he? Just a piece of pastry that Mr. Huang had happened to eat that didn't suit his taste.
Things went wrong the moment I offered to be his driver. We haven't known each other for very long, how did things turn out like this?
He's become unlike himself.
Fang Chuan silently looked at the room number, then turned and left decisively.
Back to the apartment.
