Chapter 168 A Terrifying Experience in the Heavenly Prison

A woman who looked like a peasant woman stood with her hands on her hips, pouted, and spat at them, "Tsk tsk! This is outrageous! Three young girls, how can they be so cruel?!"

Someone stepped forward and said sarcastically, "Third sister-in-law, how could you know the saying 'you can know a person's face but not their heart'? That girl adorned with gold and silver, hey, have you heard? I heard she's a princess!"

Some people were even more puzzled.

"A princess?! A princess can kill people at will! Is there no law left in the capital?" These words disgusted He Yi. They were making arbitrary assumptions based entirely on their own thoughts and judgments.

No one really asked what was going on.

[This was truly a hellish start; they really walked right into the trap.]

[The comments were right, something really happened!]

[You vicious female supporting character, they've framed you. You'd better find a way to explain yourself.]

[Hey, you villainous female supporting character! Did you even read the comments? I warned you to be careful, but you insisted on looking for Sun Sanlang in the middle of the night. Now you're in deep trouble.]

Bullet comments?

He Yi had glanced at the comments earlier, but being so careless, she naturally didn't notice what else was being said. Now, thinking about it again, she felt annoyed.

Forget it, stop overthinking. Instead, think about how to get out of here. He Yi bit her lower lip, forcing herself to calm down.

She knew! Any explanation at this moment would only be an attempt to exonerate herself, and would not only fail to allow them to leave smoothly, but would also likely bring danger.

Therefore, He Yi must find a way to save herself, and more importantly, protect Liu Yun and Qing Ju, since these two were truly implicated by her.

At this moment, He Yi looked back at Liu Yun and saw that the female teacher's face was ashen and she was furious. She was cynical and seemed to be protesting the injustice of the world with her eyes.

"This is outrageous! I'm so angry!" In fact, He Yi knew that although the chains binding them were sturdy, it would be easy for Liu Yun to break free.

Seeing Liu Yun eager to try, He Yi hurriedly signaled not to act rashly. In fact, if He Yi hadn't given them such a strong signal with her eyes, Liu Yun and Qing Ju would probably have already rebelled.

Looking back at Qingju, someone came up and started cursing. Qingju was trembling with fear, worried that these uninformed people would come up and tear her apart.

After all, many years ago she had also seen people approaching the prison cart and scratching at the six-headed man, and Qingju felt terrified back then.

This scene kept replaying in her mind, and Qingju was naturally terrified. Seeing the group of people pointing and whispering, preparing to approach again and again, Qingju muttered futile explanations, "It wasn't us...it really wasn't us, Sun Sanlang was already dead when we got there..."

No one would listen to an explanation anyway.

[Isn't an explanation just a cover-up?]

But even though she was trying her best to explain, who would listen?

"Qingju, conserve your energy. Don't explain to them; no one will believe us," Liuyun said from the side. Qingju could only sigh and shut her mouth.

The constables clearly had no intention of giving them any preferential treatment, nor did they seem to care about the truth of the matter, let alone He Yi's identity.

"Don't worry, there will be an interrogation eventually, we can explain then." Most importantly, He Yi has an alibi for the period of time that Sun Sanlang was dead.

All that's needed now is to take it out. Based on He Yi's observations and understanding, she judged that Sun Sanlang had died half an hour before he arrived, and that's when the three of them were traveling by carriage towards the West Market.

They encountered Blacksmith Sun on the road, who greeted them. He Yi even gave silver to the beggars on the roadside. These people were all witnesses, so there was nothing to worry about.

but……

Things were clearly not as expected. Instead of being taken to the magistrate for interrogation as anticipated, the three were... directly taken to the prison.

Moreover, it was the darkest and dampest prison. Once inside, He Yi and the others understood that the three of them were guilty of a capital offense. Generally, anyone who could enter the prison would have their head chopped off.

Immediately afterwards, the three were pushed and shoved into a cell, where the heavy iron door opened with a "bang" and closed with a "bang."

"This is outrageous! What are you doing? Aren't you going to conduct an interrogation?" Liu Yun was furious and turned around to glare at the two jailers who had brought them in.

The two jailers acted as if they were deaf and dumb, ignoring Liu Yun completely, no matter how much Liu Yun cursed them with the filthiest words.

The prison cell reeked of a mixture of musty smells, blood, and excrement.

The stench was so intense because of the heat that it seemed as if the stench was fermenting. The stench hit her face, and He Yi almost vomited before she could even open her mouth to speak.

The three of them took a breath, and then He Yi said to Qingju and Liuyun, "Don't talk to these small fry. Don't worry, we didn't kill them. Let's wait a bit."

He Yi saw some straw in the corner, so she sat down with Liu Yun and Qing Ju. The three of them looked up and examined the cell and then looked outside. On the outer wall, a dim torch would appear at intervals.

The torch was stuck in the spot where you were to be executed. A breeze would occasionally blow into the prison, causing the flame to flicker and cast strange shadows in the corridor.

The shadows looked exactly like menacing monsters. Looking across the corridor, the deep and narrow passage was lined with cells enclosed by iron and wooden fences.

There seemed to be people inside, but it was clear that these people had been detained for a long time and had lost all possibility and hope of survival. As He Yi stared at the opposite cell, low groans came from the opposite cell.

The man was in extreme pain. At that moment, a jailer came by and naturally heard the groans coming from the cell.

The man pleaded, "Please, sir, give me a quick death. Just give me your weapon and I'll thank God for it." The jailer glanced at the man and immediately cursed, "Who do you think you are, you dog, daring to order me around? This knife of mine is worth more than your life. Killing you? Wouldn't that just dirty your life?"

He Yi looked here and there, and she was only leaning forward slightly, but little did she know that she had angered the passing jailer.

"Get in! Don't you want to see how I teach you a lesson, you little brat?" The jailer reached out and pushed hard through the iron bars, causing He Yi to stumble and almost fall.

Liu Yun swiftly caught He Yi, but was kicked hard by the fierce-looking constable outside.
