Chapter 103 Mischief in the Study
The speaker was Ji Hefeng's cousin, Ji Heguang. Beside him were his wife and son, and behind him were his uncle, aunt, and Ji Herun.
Ji Heguang is 36 years old this year, and his wife is 34. Perhaps due to the wind, sun, and rain they endured during their two or three years of being sent to the countryside, and the constant travel they took after returning to Beijing, both of their skin has become somewhat rough and their complexion somewhat dull. However, it is not difficult to see from their facial features that they are both good-looking.
Their son, Ji Shuo, is nine years old. He is fair-skinned and tender, and is well cared for by his parents.
Ji Heguang walked up with a smile, put one arm around Ji Hefeng's shoulder and the other around Guo Lin, "It's been a long time. It's my fault, I've been running around all the time and haven't been able to find time to get together with everyone."
Ji Hefeng didn't speak, but Guo Lin smiled shyly, "My mom said that you're doing quite well in your business now, so it's inevitable that you're busy. We understand."
Uncle Ji rented a shop. Uncle Ji and Aunt Ji looked after the shop, while Brother Ji and his wife went south to buy goods. The shop was always bustling with customers.
Because business was good, Uncle Ji and Aunt Ji were much more at ease. When they met again, they were able to greet Grandpa and Grandma Ji with smiles.
But when they learned that the two cars parked outside belonged to the second son's family, Uncle Ji and Aunt Ji's expressions changed again.
"Don't look at me like that, I didn't buy it," Grandpa Ji said irritably.
Grandma Ji didn't want the relationship to deteriorate again, so she patiently explained, "That's a car from Hong Kong. Xiao Feng asked Uncle Geng in Hong Kong to get it for him. We didn't have any money or help."
Uncle Ji didn't believe it. "Little Geng is doing so well?"
Grandma Ji nodded. "Xiao Feng said his business is very successful now. He has bought a ship and has businesses all over the world."
Uncle Ji's face darkened. The people he used to look down on were now far ahead of him; the contrast was painful. Had they known this would happen, should they have gone elsewhere in the first place?
"Don't overthink it. You're doing just fine. Business is good, so if you have some money, go find a better location and buy a bigger shop. It's not good to keep renting," Grandpa Ji advised.
"I understand, Dad," Uncle Ji replied, but what he was thinking was that he wasn't in a hurry to buy a shop, but rather to rent a couple more places and open two more branches.
Ji Hefeng was in charge of driving, Ji Heguang sat in the passenger seat, and Guo Lin and the best man sat in the back.
"Your car is nice," Ji Heguang said. The Ji family used to own a car, but after they were demoted, the car was gone and they couldn't get it back.
Ji Hefeng nodded, "Uncle Geng helped me choose it. If you want to buy it, I can contact Uncle Geng."
"No rush, I'll contact you when I need it." Ji Heguang knew having a car would be convenient, but his mind was focused on opening the shop. With the little money he had, he wanted to buy a batch of electrical appliances. Clothes and electronic watches couldn't be stopped either, but electrical appliances were more profitable.
Ji Hefeng responded with another "hmm".
"Is Xiao Feng angry with his older brother?" Ji Heguang noticed that Ji Hefeng wasn't very friendly and thought that the two families had drifted apart because of the house, which was not a good sign.
The bigger the business, the more he realized the importance of having connections above him; a simple "I have connections above me" could save him half the cost.
“My parents were being stubborn, but they’ve come to terms with it now and realized their mistakes. If it weren’t for your help, Xiao Feng, we would have died on the farm long ago. We were able to return to Beijing thanks to you, Xiao Feng, and I’m truly grateful to you. As for the house, we can just buy two more with the money we got, it’s no problem.” Ji Heguang said sincerely.
Ji Hefeng's expression softened a bit. "Then, brother, go take a look at the house when you have time. With more and more people flocking to Beijing these days, the house prices are likely to keep rising."
“Okay, I’ll have your uncle keep an eye out. But we’re living in a two-courtyard house now, it’s very spacious and quite nice.” Ji Heguang doesn’t plan to buy a house right now; he has better options for his money.
Ji Hefeng could tell that Ji Heguang had no intention of buying a house, so he didn't try to persuade him further. His cousin was making a fortune these days, so it was normal for him to want his money to generate more money.
"You must be Molly, right? You're so beautiful." Zhou Min had never seen anyone so beautiful. As a fellow member of the Ji family, she had no chance of winning in terms of looks.
Fortunately, she wasn't without her advantages. She was a college student and knew how to do business, which made her more capable than Molly, who knew nothing.
Others look down on self-employed individuals, but she believes that money earned in hand is the only real money. Rather than struggling to earn a few dozen yuan a month, she'd rather open her own shop and be her own boss.
Molly smiled at the other woman and said, "Hello, sister-in-law."
Zhou Min nodded, then looked at the six children. She had heard that the second son's family had six children, but she didn't know that these children were so good-looking, each one as delicate as a porcelain doll in a New Year's painting.
It's truly enviable that she could give birth to so many children in one pregnancy and still maintain such a great figure. If you didn't know, who would believe that this woman with fair and delicate skin, a slender waist, and who looks like she's seventeen or eighteen years old, is actually the mother of six children?
"Your children are so adorable," Zhou Min said with a smile, but inwardly she couldn't help but think, "Aren't they adorable? Otherwise, the two elders wouldn't have abandoned her Shuo'er and turned to take care of these six little ones."
Molly added, "Xiao Shuo is also very cute."
On their first meeting, neither of them mentioned giving gifts to the other's children; they were as polite as strangers.
The bride was quickly brought back, and the two offered incense and bowed to their ancestors. They then recited their vows in public, and the banquet began.
Molly and Mrs. Ji, among others, were not in a hurry to take their seats; they wanted to take the six children to help the bride roll around on the bed.
"They're so small, how can they roll around?" Aunt Ji's expression was not good. What did this aunt mean? Instead of asking her grandson to roll around in bed, she asked six kids who couldn't even speak.
The aunt smiled and said, "They can roll. I've seen them roll. They're really good at it."
Six children, all dressed in red, were placed on the red wedding bed—how festive! Whether they rolled around or not, just looking at the scene was auspicious. The eldest aunt was very pleased.
The bride, Wen Xiaofu, also had a big smile on her face as she looked at the six dolls, clearly delighted.
The six children didn't cry in bed. When they saw everyone laughing at them, they grinned back, revealing their two baby teeth, which made everyone in the room even happier.
"Ji Yi, lead your younger brothers in a somersault," Molly said. She had been practicing with them at home for the past few days, and they already understood what the word "somersault" meant.
Sure enough, the next second Ji Yi lay down and started rolling her chubby little body. The other five followed suit, lying down and rolling in an orderly fashion from one side of the bed to the other.
The matchmaker immediately smiled and began to recite the blessings, filling the room with joy.
Auntie was unhappy, but she didn't show it on her face. When it was over, she even clapped along with everyone else.
The eldest aunt gave red envelopes to the six children and touched their little faces. "I specially asked someone to cook egg custard and minced meat porridge for them. It should be ready soon. I'll go and bring it over."
"Mo An, go with your aunt," Molly instructed Mo An.
Mo An immediately followed.
The banquet was very lavish, with a total of ten dishes, symbolizing perfection.
The Ji family sat at two tables. Ji Hefeng sat next to Molly, each holding a child. Molly fed the children, and while Ji Hefeng was feeding the children, he could also take the time to feed Molly a bite or two of meat.
His skillful movements left everyone present in awe.
"This Xiao Feng is quite the doting husband," a relative joked.
Ji Hefeng smiled but didn't reply, but he fed her even more enthusiastically. Sometimes, before Ji Yi in his arms had even started eating, Molly's mouth was already full. Ji Yi cried out in frustration, grabbing Ji Hefeng's spoon with both little hands, seemingly intending to feed her herself.
“Those little hands are quite strong; they can eat them themselves when we get back,” Ji Hefeng said.
Molly agreed, "Then let's put the food on their little tables and let them eat by themselves."
Ji Hefeng: "Let's order a few small wooden bowls for them first."
The couple made the decision happily, while the innocent children had no idea what they were about to face.
Who has a six-month-old baby who can feed themselves?
When she got home in the evening, after taking a shower, Molly lay in bed reading to the children.
When Ji Hefeng arrived, still damp from the rain, Molly tossed him the book she was holding, saying, "It's your turn."
Ji Hefeng took the book, glanced at the title, and asked in surprise, "The Complete Book of Medicinal Plants?"
"Is there a problem?" Molly asked, puzzled.
"No problem. Popular science books are good." Ji Hefeng saw Molly's serious face and couldn't help but laugh. "Shall we go to the library tomorrow to find some children's books?"
Are you free tomorrow?
"Yes, I have three days off. I'll go buy books tomorrow, and you'll come with me to the wedding the day after. You've met the groom before, he's Wu Guyu, the one who took me from Kyoto to the military hospital."
Molly still remembered, "Wearing glasses."
Ji Hefeng chuckled, "All I remember is that he wore glasses? That's nice."
Molly didn't know what was so funny. She lay down and played with the children's hands and feet, which were soft, smooth, and delicate, and she couldn't bear to put them down.
Ji Hefeng's voice was magnetic, somewhat deep, and his enunciation was very clear. Molly thought it sounded wonderful and listened attentively, while the children were drowsy and soon closed their eyes.
"Sleep-inducing task complete, turn off the lights and go to sleep."
Ji Hefeng turned off the lights. Five minutes later, after confirming that the children were sound asleep, he nudged Molly. "It's still early, shall we go to the study and read some books?"
It's 8:30 pm, which is indeed early.
However, someone's purpose was not to read. As soon as Molly entered the study, Ji Hefeng pressed her against the bookshelf and showered her with hot kisses.
Having been back for so long without a chance to be intimate, Ji Hefeng was practically going crazy from being so pent up. He cradled the back of Molly's head with one hand while using the other to unbutton her clothes.
"The light... the light's still on," Molly said, her breath unsteady.
Ji Hefeng reached out to pull the light cord, and the study was instantly plunged into darkness, with only the cool moonlight shining in through the window.
Molly felt as if Ji Hefeng wanted to devour her, his voice fierce and ruthless. When he moved his lips away from hers, she gasped for breath, her voice inexplicably pitiful, "I...we can't have any more children."
In the darkness, Ji Hefeng chuckled softly, "Don't worry, I've gone to get the family planning supplies."
The next second, Molly heard the sound of the plastic bag being torn open, her body trembled involuntarily, and her legs went weak and she could no longer stand.
Ji Hefeng put one arm around her waist, his eyes deepening. Tsk, this delicate and soft appearance makes one want to bully her even more.
