Chapter 92 Concerns

Chapter 92 Concerns

The moving day is set for August 6th. In the past few days, the family has started packing things, taking what they need and giving away what they don't want.

Molly planned to mail the kitchen utensils, knives, and farm tools back to Mohe. These items were no longer rationed, but they weren't cheap. Earning money in the countryside wasn't easy, so naturally, every penny saved was precious.

The Ji family arranged for three cars and a truck to arrive at Molly's house early on August 6th.

The fruit trees in the yard had already been dug up last night. Their roots were wrapped in burlap sacks and watered, and they looked quite alive. A group of people loaded their belongings onto the truck first, and the fruit trees were the last to be moved.

The chickens and geese at home had all been eaten, and there were only a few small rabbits left, which were given to Zhu Lezhi's children.

Upon learning that Molly was moving today, Zhu Lezhi and the others came early in the morning to help, their eyes red, as if they were about to burst into tears.

“You’ll be starting junior high next month, and taking the college entrance exam in a few years. If you work hard and get into Kyoto, we’ll meet again,” Molly said with a smile.

Zhu Lezhi thought about it and realized it made sense; her sadness instantly faded. "Alright then, my sister will wait for us in Kyoto."

As the car drove away from the camp, Molly looked back at the camp gate as it receded into the distance, bidding farewell to the place where she had lived for more than a year.

Their vehicle set off from the camp early in the morning, only stopping briefly when the children needed milk, before continuing on its way until late at night when it finally arrived in Beijing.

"The road conditions have improved thanks to road construction these past two years; otherwise, it would have taken even longer," sighed Mrs. Ji.

Molly responded softly, "Things will get better from now on."

"Let's go inside first. I've been on the bus for twenty hours, and I'm completely exhausted. I don't know how the children are doing. Are they asleep or just carsick? They're still sleeping." Grandma Ji said with some concern.

As soon as she finished speaking, Ji Yi burst into tears. As soon as Ji Yi started crying, the other five also started crying. Their cries were deafening and woke up everyone in the courtyard.

The old, heavy door creaked open, and Ji Liangyou hurried to the child in his wife's arms, taking the child in his hand. "Oh my, that voice is really loud! What's this?"

"Eldest son, Ji Yi," said Ji's mother, "Come on, let's go inside. Everyone's exhausted from the journey. Have you prepared hot water and food?"

"Everything is prepared. I haven't been able to sleep since I was thinking you'd be arriving soon." Ji Liangyou held the child, his heart filled with joy. He turned to look at Molly, only to see that Molly had one child in each arm, and the child in her arms was also looking at him at that moment. The child had a chubby face, round eyes, and dark pupils. It was incredibly cute.

Ji Liangyou felt his heart melting; he looked at this and that, his eyes couldn't take it all in.

Molly and the others first gave the children a bath, changed them into clean clothes, fed them milk, and then took a bath themselves. After the bath, they ate something simple, and after eating, they couldn't open their eyes anymore.

"This must be Mo An. Your room is over there. The bedding is ready, so you can just rest. You can pack your luggage tomorrow," Ji Liangyou said to Mo An.

Mo An bowed to Ji Liangyou with the courtesy due to a junior, saying, "Thank you for your trouble, Uncle."

"Good boy." Ji Liangyou patted Mo An on the shoulder, then asked Mo Chuyang, "Are you Chuyang?"

Mo Chuyang also bowed, "Grandpa."

"You're a good kid too. This must be Xiao Lu, right?" Ji Liangyou had a fairly comprehensive understanding of the children. He had no objections to the two children his daughter-in-law had adopted. After all, the Ji family could afford to raise them.

"Hello, Grandpa, I'm Xiao Lu." Seeing that this grandfather was kind and approachable, Lu Lu's unease dissipated considerably.

"You're all good kids, go and rest. Your rooms are right next to your uncle's. If there's anything you don't like, tell me when you wake up tomorrow, and I'll have someone change it for you."

Mo An and the other two naturally said they didn't dislike anything and there was no need to change it.

Indeed, the room was very well furnished. The bed was large, made of good wood, and the comforters were soft, new, and fragrant. There was a desk, a wardrobe, and several sets of clothes in their size, as well as several pairs of shoes—clearly prepared especially for them.

They've put in so much effort, how could they possibly be dissatisfied?

The three children were finally at ease, as the Ji family did not reject them.

Molly's bed was ridiculously large, measuring 3.2 meters wide and 3.2 meters long, and was enclosed on three sides. It didn't look like a bed; it looked more like a house.

As long as she blocked the exit, she wouldn't have to worry about the children falling out of bed. Molly instantly fell in love with the bed.

"Mom, I'll stay with the kids while they sleep. You go and stay with Dad," Molly said. Recently, the kids have been sleeping through the night, and she can manage on her own.

"That's fine, I'll come over after the children cry." Mrs. Ji went out.

Outside the door, Ji Liangyou saw her come out and immediately asked, "Are the children asleep?"

“They’ve slept the whole way, so I’m afraid they won’t fall asleep so quickly,” said Mrs. Ji.

"Then why don't we take them out? I'll watch over them, and Molly can sleep too." Ji Liangyou had only held them for a short while, but he felt he couldn't hold them enough, couldn't look at them enough, and didn't want to be separated from the children at all.

“You can’t keep an eye on them,” Mrs. Ji said helplessly. “There are six of them. You can’t even look after one, let alone six. Besides, they are still young. If they are separated from their mother at night, they will be anxious and cry.”

Ji Liangyou frowned. "Wouldn't Molly be having a very hard time?"

Mrs. Ji smiled silently. "I see she's really enjoying herself. She wishes she had more hands so she could hold one in each arm. Months have passed, and she never complains of being tired. Whenever she's awake, she's always holding a baby—this one, that one—and if she can't hold one, she'll let the baby lie on her. I've never seen a young person love children as much as she does. Alright, let's not talk about the kids. Where's Dad? Why isn't he here?"

“Dad had a business dinner last night and drank a couple of drinks. He was so tired that he fell asleep in the courtyard house over there. Now that Molly has moved in, where will we stay with Mom and Dad? There are many courtyards and houses here, but I don’t know whether Mom and Dad will stay with my older brother or come here.” Ji Liangyou had a headache.

“I don’t care where you live, I’m going to live with Molly and the kids.”

"Of course I'll live with you too."

"Let your parents choose where they want to live."

"But this used to be our family's old house. Don't you think it's inappropriate to not let my eldest brother's family move in?"

This is what Ji Liangyou is struggling with.

"The family has grown up and is now divided, so just consider us a divided family, okay?" Mrs. Ji didn't agree to her uncle's family moving in. It's easy to invite a god in, but hard to send him away. Once they move in, who knows if they'll stay forever? Their generation was relatively close, but the son's generation was much less so, and then the grandson's generation—

Grandma Ji shook her head, "When my granddaughter and grandson get married, this house will only get bigger and bigger, and there won't be room for anyone else."

Ji Liangyou was well aware of this principle.

"Let Mom and Dad talk to your brother. Anyway, I don't care, and they shouldn't make a scene in front of Molly and the kids."

Molly was unaware of her in-laws' troubles; she was already asleep. The six children, however, were still awake, curiously examining the large bed, behaving very well and not disturbing Molly.

Molly didn't know how long they played or when they fell asleep. When she woke up, it was already bright outside, and the children's little faces were rosy and they looked adorable.

Molly didn't get up, just lay there waiting for the children to wake up. When she saw Ji Yi open her eyes first, she wasn't surprised at all. Ji Yi met Molly's eyes, and instantly a big smile bloomed on her face. Then she rolled over, rolled to Molly's side, and reached out to lift Molly's clothes. Her eagerness amused Molly, "You're such a little foodie!"

The others gradually woke up, and Ji Wu was the second to grab a share of the granary. When the others realized they hadn't received any, they immediately started wailing and crying loudly.

Hearing the noise, the nanny next door came over shortly with a bottle. She handed the bottle to the children, letting them hold it and drink. The nannies then went to get a basin of hot water, and after the children finished drinking, they wiped their mouths and hands. They also changed their diapers and washed their bottoms.

A chef was provided in the house, so Mo An didn't have to cook. He would come to find Molly as soon as he woke up.

"Sister, I saw a cart with railings on all four sides in the corridor, and there was a quilt inside. Is it for my nephews?" Mo An was very interested in the cart, especially the six small rubber wheels underneath, which made it very quiet when pushed.

“Xiao An guessed right, it’s for the children. We can put them in the stroller and push it around the house.” Ji Liangyou called to Mo An, “Come on, help your uncle carry the stroller inside.”

The car was carried through the door and pushed all the way to Molly's bedside.

Molly looked at the car and laughed, "Dad, you've really thought of everything."

"This isn't my idea; it's something I've had before. Put the children in the car, and I'll take them for a drive. You guys go get something to eat first." Seeing his granddaughter and grandson again, Ji Liangyou felt that they were even cuter today than yesterday—chubby, pink, and with an innocent, adorable look. He adored them.

Molly woke up at noon, so she didn't need to eat breakfast and could go straight to lunch.

Grandma Ji and Grandma Ji were nowhere to be found; there were only the four of them at the dining table.

"Did you sleep well?" Molly asked.

Mo An nodded, "It's good, the blanket smells nice."

Lu Lu yawned, "It's my first time sleeping in a bed by myself, and I'm not used to it."

Mo An: "Then you'd better get used to it soon. I don't want to sleep in the same bed with you anymore. You're such a terrible sleeper."

Lu Lu pursed his lips; what his uncle said was true, and he couldn't refute it.

Mo Chuyang: "Mom, the room is so big, and there are new clothes and new shoes in the closet."

Molly wasn't surprised; it was still Ji's mother who asked her for the measurements of Mo An and the other two, saying she needed to prepare clothes for them.

"These are prepared for you; just wear them."

After lunch, Molly was going to plant her own fruit trees. She planned to plant them in the yard behind her room, which was quite large.

When Molly took the children to plant fruit trees, Uncle Ji's family arrived, following behind the old man.

"Dad, this is our Ji family's ancestral home. How could you give it to the second son without informing us?"
