Chapter 124 Arrival
Molly slept soundly until dawn, and only opened her eyes when He Pan knocked on the door.
“The two drivers who were on night watch yesterday were fast asleep,” He Pan said, staring into Molly’s eyes. “But our truck and cargo are both fine.”
Molly nodded. "Sixteen people came yesterday, and I dealt with them."
She kicked the tools used in the crime on the ground. "These are stolen goods."
Looking at the various knives, hammers, iron bars, and other objects on the ground, He Pan couldn't help but feel a lingering fear. "Are you alright?"
"It's nothing." Molly went into the bathroom to wash up. "You can take these tools away."
He Pan worked tirelessly to load these things onto the truck.
"Boss, what are these?" Shen Yu asked.
Shen Yu has now returned to work for He Pan.
"The tools the thieves used last night." He Pan was incredibly grateful that he had brought Molly with him; without Molly, they would have suffered heavy losses last night.
Shen Yu thought He Pan was joking, "How did the thief's tools end up in your hands?"
He Pan looked up at him and said, "What do you think?"
Well--
"Sixteen thieves came last night. Go ask the driver who was on night watch during the second half of the night if he noticed anything unusual before he passed out."
The two drivers were still a bit dazed. They sat at the dinner table with lingering fear in their eyes.
"This is the first time we've encountered this situation. We lost consciousness without anyone noticing."
"Before I lost consciousness, I seemed to smell a fishy stench. I thought it was the smell of some animal carcass and didn't pay much attention to it. Then I got more and more sleepy, couldn't hold on any longer, and passed out."
"Is this medicine really that powerful?"
"I'll have to be more careful when I go out in the future; it's really impossible to guard against everything."
“From now on, each car will be paired with two drivers, one driving and the other sleeping, taking turns. I dare not stop overnight.”
"What happened next? My cargo is still here, and there are no signs that the fuel tank has been tampered with."
Everyone stared at each other, completely bewildered.
At this moment, He Pan arrived and said loudly, "Don't just stand there, hurry up and eat breakfast. After you've eaten, we'll continue on our way. We won't sleep tonight. Once we reach our destination at noon tomorrow, we'll give everyone a day off."
He Pan drove during the day, and Molly drove at night. When He Pan occasionally woke up at night, he would always see Molly looking radiant, her eyes shining in the darkness.
My sister-in-law is in such good spirits!
Being with his younger siblings made him feel very safe.
He Pan couldn't help but envy Ji Hefeng. That guy was so lucky to have found such a good wife.
Suddenly, a horn blared.
He Pan was startled. "What happened?"
“There are nails on the ground.” Molly stepped on the brakes and got out of the car first.
"Hey, wait a minute, grab a flashlight!" He Pan chased after her.
Several wooden planks were placed on the yellow earth, with rows of sharp nails on them. The nails were black, the same color as the night, and most people wouldn't be able to see the planks and nails at all.
But Molly is no ordinary person.
She picked up the wooden planks from the ground one by one and handed them to He Pan behind her.
"Who is it that's so despicable!" He Pan shouted angrily.
Molly looked in a certain direction. "The scoundrels are coming."
The "unethical" person arrived, and the truck driver got off.
Molly walked to the passenger seat and pulled an iron rod from under the seat.
"Damn, they brought thirty-seven people!" He Pan exclaimed. All their drivers combined numbered no more than twenty.
"Boss, what should we do?" Shen Yu asked with a serious expression. He was 1.7 meters tall and rather thin, and fighting was not his forte.
Other drivers also quickly found their tools and prepared for the worst.
"Boss, our car is fine, let's get in and drive away." Shen Yu didn't want to fight at all. The other side had more people and might even have reinforcements. Running away was the right choice.
Before He Pan could speak, Molly objected, "No, I'm not going. I'm tired from driving, I'm going to stretch my legs."
Besides, we'll have to go through this same route on the way back. If we don't subdue these people, we'll have to fight them again when we get back, which will be troublesome.
"Don't come any closer, I can handle this by myself."
Molly refused to let anyone else participate.
A woman carrying an iron bar rushed forward before the men could get close.
"Is Boss Mo really that fierce?" Shen Yu was stunned. Was this really the delicate and gentle cake shop owner he knew?
He Pan said with a meaningful look, "Otherwise, why do you think I brought her along?"
Shen Yu: "......."
Boss, you're really shameless to rely on a woman for protection.
Ten minutes later.
Molly returned carrying the iron rod. "Let's go, let's keep going."
"Sister-in-law, are those people alright?" He Pan looked at the people lying on the ground, feeling somewhat worried.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. They're just external injuries. They'll be fine after three or four days in bed," Molly said nonchalantly. She didn't mention that although these people could get off the bus in three or four days, the pain in their bodies would last for more than half a month.
Molly got back into the car, started it, and drove off, only then did the other drivers snap out of their daze.
One by one, they ran towards their cars.
"So, the person who made the move last night was also this Boss Mo?"
"Probably, yes."
"She looks so delicate and soft, like a lump of tofu, I never expected her to be so powerful!"
"This isn't just impressive, it's divine! I bet she knows martial arts, and is probably the senior disciple of some mysterious sect."
"No wonder, I always felt she was unusual."
"......"
The next morning, Molly went to sleep, and He Pan took over driving.
At 1 p.m., the car was parked outside the food factory's warehouse.
The man waiting outside the warehouse smiled and walked towards the car. He Pan got out of the car and also smiled as he walked towards the man.
When Molly opened her eyes, she saw He Pan chatting happily with a man.
"Sister-in-law, get out of the car. Let Brother Biao take us to get something good to eat." He Pan called out to Molly in the car. "Take your luggage. After we eat, we'll go to the hotel."
Molly only brought a backpack, which she simply slung over her shoulder. She was wearing a blue tracksuit, her long, black hair flowing freely, and when she opened the car door and jumped out, she looked just like a high school student.
At first glance, Brother Biao's first impression was that the girl was very tall and had very fair skin. When he saw her face, Brother Biao was stunned, and his eyes flashed with amazement.
He had never seen such a beautiful girl before in his life.
"Watch your eyes. If my brother is here, you're done for," He Pan warned.
Brother Biao blushed and said awkwardly, "It's not my fault. Everyone appreciates beauty. It's normal for me to lose my composure when I see such a stunning beauty for the first time. But she looks to be under twenty, and she's already married?"
“She’s married, not just married, her child is over a year old.” He Pan watched Molly approach. “But she is indeed young, just over twenty.”
“Molly, this is Brother Biao, this food factory belongs to him.” He Pan introduced Brother Biao, and then said to Brother Biao, “This is Molly, my business partner. Don’t underestimate her just because she’s young. She already owns three cake shops and a restaurant, and all of them are very successful. We share a factory, and she takes the lion’s share.”
Brother Biao was stunned. He had no idea this young girl was so capable.
Molly and He Pan got into Brother Biao's car. They sat in the back, while Brother Biao and his female secretary sat in the front.
Initially, Brother Biao didn't plan to bring this female secretary. It was only because Molly was there that Brother Biao brought the female secretary along.
Molly was visiting the city for the first time. Looking out the car window, she noticed not only countless high-rise buildings but also ubiquitous shacks, a stark contrast between development and backwardness. However, she believed these shacks would soon be replaced by modern buildings.
"How does this place compare to Beijing?" Brother Biao asked.
“One has a more ancient charm, while the other is younger and more energetic,” He Pan said.
Brother Biao then asked, "How does it compare to cities abroad?"
He Pan thought about it seriously, "There is still a gap. Buildings abroad are very tall, ten or twenty stories, or even taller."
He Pan didn't mention anything else.
Brother Biao took them to a restaurant that specializes in seafood. The restaurant's decor was average, but as soon as you entered, you could see all kinds of shrimp, fish, and scallops.
"The seafood just arrived this morning, it's very fresh." Brother Biao is a regular customer of this shop, and the owner already knows him. He greets him warmly as soon as he sees him.
"It's the best and most expensive place here," Brother Biao said generously.
He Pan punched Brother Biao in the chest, "That's a good friend."
Brother Biao laughed heartily, "That's a must."
The female secretary stood by smiling, like a mere tool.
The four people sat down. He Pan pulled out a chair for Molly, then sat down next to her. Opposite them were Brother Biao and his secretary.
First came the cold dishes and snacks, the cold dishes also being from the sea. He Pan didn't touch his chopsticks, busy chatting with Brother Biao. Brother Biao didn't touch his chopsticks either, and the female secretary, seeing this, didn't touch them either.
Molly, however, looked at the grass-like thing with curiosity. She picked up her chopsticks and tried a bite; it was sweet, crisp, and refreshing—a very different flavor. Her eyes lit up, and she ate one bite after another, unable to stop.
Seeing this, He Pan silently poured her a cup of hot tea.
Molly finished a plate of cold dishes.
The female secretary looked at her with disdain. Where did this country bumpkin come from? He doesn't even know a little bit of table manners.
"Do you like it?" He Pan asked.
Molly nodded. "Refreshing."
"I'll have them bring another plate," He Pan said, beckoning the waiter over and asking him to bring another plate of cold dishes.
After the waiter left, He Pan said to Molly, "Don't worry about eating too many cold dishes yet, there will be even better ones later."
As soon as he said that, several waiters came up with plates.
Molly looked at the shrimp, bigger than her head, and the scallops, the size of her fist, and raised an eyebrow. They looked quite delicious. Completely different from the ugly things in the apocalypse.
The most eye-catching thing is the crab in the very center. It's so big, is it a mutation?
Besides various kinds of shrimp and crab, there are also various kinds of steamed fish.
Molly's eyes couldn't keep up with everything.
He Pan found it amusing to see her like this. After all, she was only a twenty-year-old girl. She usually appeared calm and composed, but when she saw something new and interesting, she couldn't help but show her childlike side.
He Pan peeled a large lobster and put it in Molly's bowl, saying, "Try it."
Molly didn't stand on ceremony, picked it up and took a bite. It tasted very fresh and sweet, completely different from river shrimp.
"Eat as much as you like. Make sure you're full, otherwise when we get back to Beijing, Fengzi will definitely come after me," He Pan said.
A hint of surprise flashed in the female secretary's eyes; she hadn't expected that the two of them weren't in the kind of relationship she had assumed.
