"Trust me. I don't have any servants around me. No one will take you back if you stay with me." Sophia said sincerely, "I will treat you well."

Listening to Sophia's impassioned speech, Violet laughed. What she said was right. She really had misunderstood.

"Your Highness, you're overthinking it. No one is forcing me, and no one has any leverage over me. I'm just an ordinary magician who entered this forest to search for herbs for new magic. No one would use conspiracy against me." Velvet explained seriously.

She was about to say that her voice was too insignificant to be heard, but looking at the princess in front of her, she was afraid that if she said too much, it would trigger her new rescue complex.

"...and I just met by chance and traveled together. You are really exaggerating." said Violet.

"Then why don't you become a doctoral student with such good handwriting, but become a wandering magician instead?" Sophia analyzed seriously, "Didn't you escape from her and become a wanderer, and then get caught?

"Don't worry, I'm a princess. I'll help you resolve any trouble you have, and I'll also get it back for you if you have any evidence against me."

"What do you mean by settling the problem and getting the evidence back?" Evelyn's voice rang out beside Vilt. "What conspiracy theory are you guys discussing?"

“What are you doing…” This was the first time Evelin had approached her on her own initiative in the past two days, and Vilt was a little surprised.

"After walking for a whole morning, the mercenary captain said the terrain here is flat and open, suitable for rest." Evelyn explained.

Evelyn figured it out. No matter what Violet's reason for approaching Sofia was, she couldn't lose her composure. Furthermore, the better the atmosphere between Violet and the princess, the more Evelyn couldn't afford to get angry and argue with Violet. Otherwise, wouldn't that just be Sofia's way of pushing Violet further away?

She had just heard that Sophia was hoping that there would be problems between her and Violet so that she could take advantage of the situation.

Evelyn was not willing to be a fool.

"We're not talking about conspiracy theories. The conspirators are other people." Sophia said meaningfully, and then she glanced at Violet hesitantly, as if they had reached a consensus on this.

Unfortunately, Violet was always short-circuited when receiving such signals. She closed the notebook and put away the paper and pen. "Her Highness Sophia misunderstood something. I have already explained it to her. Do you want to have lunch?"

"Um."

"You go and rest, I'll go get lunch." After saying that, Violet nodded politely to Sophia and walked away.

"Hey! White!" As soon as this woman appeared in front of White, she attracted all his attention. Sophia was furious.

“What a shame~” Evelin couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"Don't be so proud!"

Evelin ignored Sophia and waved her hand as she walked towards Vilt.

The mercenary group's food is relatively uniform, including roast pork, roast rabbit, and roast venison, depending on what animals they encounter on the road that day.

"We need raw meat," Evelyn said to the cook. "We'll roast it ourselves."

"Okay." The cook glanced at Evelyn and recognized her as the magician who had followed the mercenary captain to open the way, so he cut two extra pieces of meat for them.

Today's meat is venison.

The venison was wrapped in broad leaves, and the cook also placed seasonings next to it.

Rejecting many of the other mercenaries' invitations to dine together, Evelyn and Violet chose a place away from the crowd to make a fire.

Making fire and preparing raw meat were both Vilt's jobs. Evelyn wanted to lend a hand but was rejected.

Violet has always been like this. Evelyn didn't know whether some of her behaviors were a habit or a little special.

"If nothing unexpected happens, we can separate from the mercenary team tomorrow night." Violet said to Evelyn while processing the raw meat. After she finished speaking, she paused and added, "If you want."

Evelyn's eyes lit up when she heard Vilt say she wanted to separate from the mercenary team. But after hearing the second half of her words, she frowned and complained, "What do you mean by 'if I want to'? I only agreed to go with the mercenary team because you said you wanted to."

"I understand." Violet nodded, but didn't say what she knew.

She quickly prepared the meat and gave Evelyn a small piece to roast for fun.

Evelyn shook the branch in her hand and said, "Why did you suddenly say you were leaving?" Evelyn kept an eye on Violet's expression and where her eyes were looking while she spoke.

Vilt focused on the meat in her hand, watching it turn over as it was cooked. "Our goals are not the same as theirs. It will be very dangerous to follow the mercenaries deeper." Vilt said.

"Hmm." Evelyn nodded seriously. "I saw that you had a very pleasant conversation with the princess, and the princess answered all your questions. I thought you would go to work for her." Evelyn still couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark.

After she finished speaking, she frowned again, reflecting on whether she shouldn't have said that.

Violet looked calm as she handed the roasted meat to Evelin. "So you've been unhappy about this these past few days? Are you worried that I'll leave with someone else?"

Evelyn turned her head away from Violet's gaze.

"Don't worry. I promised you we'd go together, and I won't abandon you." As soon as she finished speaking, Vilt felt something was wrong. She thought of Evelyn, who had been leading the way with the mercenary captain for the past two days. Her magic manipulation skills were among the best. "You should be worried about me being left behind, Miss Magician."

The last five words were said with a rare hint of mischief in Vilt's tone, and there was a smile in the corners of her eyes and eyebrows. Evelin looked at Vilt's smile and her face slowly turned red.

“Ahem.” Seeing Evelin’s suddenly red cheeks, Vilt felt an inexplicable emotion surge in her heart. She looked away in a panic, “Eat quickly, the meat will be cold soon.”

The journey in the afternoon was peaceful and smooth. If nothing goes wrong, the mercenary team will be able to reach the interior of the forest tomorrow morning.

Violet finished questioning Princess Sofia and pondered something in the firelight, holding a notebook. Evelyn was not around, so she went to the mercenary captain to discuss her departure.

In her mind, Vilt reconstructed the castle based on what Sofia had said. However, the castle's spires and walls gradually faded as she thought about it. Vilt thought about the real purpose of her trip to the forest. However, before that purpose could take root in her mind, it suddenly transformed into a beautiful face. The other person's chattering voice when they first met rang in her ears, "My name is Evelyn, what's yours?"

Violet's fingers, which were holding the notebook, suddenly clenched, and her knuckles turned white.

People cannot easily control their own thoughts. The more Vilt wanted to make her only goal, the more her mind refused to obey and other complicated thoughts came roaring in. Vilt's face looked ugly, "Evelyn... Evelyn..." She muttered the name in a low voice, as if to prove something.

"Evelyn."

"I'm here."

Velvet suddenly looked up, and Evelyn jumped to her side with a smile. "I've finished talking to the mercenary captain. Although she's very disappointed, she's also accepted that we're leaving. Don't worry, I'll protect you well. Those monsters are no match for me..."

Vilt could no longer hear what Evelyn said. Her ears were filled with a chaotic cacophony of sounds: Evelyn's voice, the sound of flames burning wood, the howling of monsters in the distance... But these sounds gradually faded into nothingness, and the last thing Vilt heard was - "Boom, boom, boom..."

It was the sound of her heartbeat.

Can't.

night.

Violet and Evelyn lay side by side in the tent.

The two of them had been sleeping together since they met, and had shared the same bed many times since entering the forest, but no day was like this.

With her eyes open, Violet could clearly see the top of the tent in the darkness. Evelyn was lying flat beside her. If she moved her fingers, she could even touch the back of Evelyn's hand.

Evelin fell asleep early, her breathing long, one after another, like endless silk threads.

Violet closed her eyes for a long time and then opened them again. She really couldn't feel sleepy at all.

There was still fire outside the tent, and some mercenaries were keeping watch.

Violet thought for a moment, then stood up quietly. As she stood up, a black cloak covered her body.

Although the black cloak was not obvious in the dark, it was still visible under the light of the fire outside the tent. However, when Violet walked out of the tent, the mercenary on guard raised his head and looked straight at them, but he seemed not to see Violet.

Another mercenary looked over, only to see the shadows of trees. "What's wrong? Is there something going on?"

"No, I'm just taking a look." The mercenary said, looking up to see the moon hidden by the treetops. "When is the shift change?"

"Half an hour left..." said his companion.

After leaving the tent, Violet walked quickly and reached the depths of the forest in a few breaths. In the center of the forest, a castle towered into the clouds.

This is a place where even the moon cannot reach. In the darkness, only the steam lamps hanging outside the castle are lit, making it look a bit eerie.

Violet had no intention of going in. She headed towards the right rear of the castle with a clear goal.

As her figure passed over the castle, the excessive speed brought up the wind, and the steam lamp began to sway and creak like a dilapidated wind chime.

Behind the castle, the forest was dense, with trees almost touching each other. The lush branches and leaves of the trees blocked the sky, like a patchwork of dark green lids.

There were no clouds or winds at night, and there were no wild beasts or insects in the deep forest. They were not even worthy of being appetizers here.

Various high-level magical beasts occupied their own territories, and the howling of the magical beasts could be heard one after another.

Vilt paused, tilted her head slightly, and closed her eyes, searching for something amid the cacophony of monsters. Soon, she caught a sound.

This cry is deep and long-lasting, with a hint of violence, and it is easily noticeable among the other sounds.

After determining the direction from which the sound came, Violet took another step and flew towards the east.

Velt stopped in front of a "wall of trees," the sounds of the monsters coming from behind. But the "wall" before her, clearly made up of individual trees, gave off a sense of regularity, with horizontal and vertical lines.

These trees are tall, short, fat and thin, with branches extending in exactly the same way. Even the density and yellowness of the leaves are reproduced one-to-one.

There is no gap to pass through.

Violet stared at the tree wall quietly, her dark green left eye turned golden. The branches and trunks of the tree wall in her sight became transparent, and magic spells appeared and disappeared on the wall. It turned out to be an illusion!

This illusion array was as thin as paper in Vilt's eyes. She easily captured the source of the magic flow in the illusion array. She raised her hand and compressed the dragon's breath into the size of a needle tip. The dragon's breath flew out of her hand and pierced the "eye of the array". Like a stone thrown into a calm lake, the illusion array began to ripple from the eye of the array to the surrounding areas. In Vilt's right eye, the trees in front of her twisted, and the straight trees turned into curved noodles that entangled and intertwined, revealing an entrance that one person could pass through.

Violet walked in.

Behind the illusion, a magical beast was crawling on the slightly empty ground. Violet carefully felt the pressure and rich magic power coming from the magical beast.

Not bad, she nodded with satisfaction.

The monster in front of him was huge, with fangs on its mouth and hard and thick skin. It could kill other monsters with its size alone.

If there were any mercenaries here, they would have definitely taken a detour early based on the scattered scent of magical beasts.

This is the top-level magical beast in this forest, except for the evil dragon - Chongjun. It is huge in size, lying on the ground like a small hill, with thick and sharp spikes on its back, and transparent magic elements will emerge from the spikes as it breathes.

There was no living thing around Chongjun, and the nearby trees and plants had already turned yellow, looking like they would soon die. This was a top-level magical beast plundering the vitality of the space. A single breath from it could shatter the heart and lungs of an intermediate magician.

Velvet stood in front of the monster, looking as small as an ant.

However, Violet looked calm, and the monster's pressure had no effect on her. Instead, the ferocious monster, as if it smelled something, suddenly gripped the ground with its claws and trembled all over.

Waves of low growls emanated from the monster's throat. They were clearly warnings, but because of its slightly retreating steps, they seemed somewhat timid.

The Warcraft had no intention of fighting with Vilt, it just wanted to escape, as if it would lose its life if it was a step slower.

Violet didn't give it a chance to escape.

The pupils of both her eyes turned golden, and the dragon's breath covered the entire space at some point - Chongjun had created a small space using illusions for rest, and now it was just right for Violet to use.

The illusion was merely a decoy, allowing the intense pressure to seep through. Other monsters, sensing it, would naturally avoid it. However, Velt's dragon breath was like a barrier, masking the intense howl, the pressure emanating from her, and the magical elements within her. Not a single drop of it could seep through.

All trace of it disappeared in the forest.

Nearby, the nocturnal monsters sensed this change, their fur stood up, and they migrated farther and farther away from the depths of the forest.

Violet didn't know this, and she didn't care.

Pulling her watch from her pocket to check the time, Violet said apologetically, "I'm in a hurry and can't get any blood on me. You might be in some pain."

There was a trace of fear in Chongjun's eyes, and the dragon's breath sank in an instant. It suddenly knelt on the ground, and even the ground beneath it cracked. The spikes on its back broke, and Chongjun couldn't even lift his head.

Violet doesn't have any perverted hobbies and doesn't like to abuse "small animals".

She chanted a spell, and a dragon's breath covered Chongjun's face, blocking all of his senses.

Then, fire started from the severely broken spikes.

There seemed to be an accelerant in the air, and the flames instantly engulfed Chongjun's body. The flames rose up and burned into the shape of a dragon. The fire dragon then opened its mouth and swallowed all the black smoke and ashes.

Not even ashes were left of the huge monster. The fire dragon burned smaller and smaller. Before it disappeared, the fire dragon floated in front of Vilt and spit a crystal into her palm.

It was a transparent crystal. Under the remaining flames of the fire dragon, one could see various elemental colors flashing inside the crystal.

This is the purpose of Violet coming to the forest.

As a top-level magical beast, Chongjun can use various elemental magics. The crystals in its body can also accommodate various magical elements and bring them to their full potential.

This was the rarest and most premium magic crystal in the world. Only a magic crystal like this was worthy of her princess—this was the gift that Violet would present to the princess.

The last ray of light from the fire dragon burned out, and the crystal clear magic crystal made Vilt's fingertips glow. However, as Vilt looked at the magic crystal, her mind became empty, which was rare.

Violet's thoughts were not under her control, and she was not thinking about the princess - Evelyn didn't seem to have a decent magic wand.
