Second candy
The night wind blew on Evelyn's face. She had Violet's magic on her body. The wind did not whistle when it hit her body. It was like a spring breeze, very gentle.
This wasn't Evelyn's first time flying, but the feeling of riding a dragon was completely different from her previous soaring with wind magic. Violet Academy shrank behind Evelyn. Violet flew quite high, and the town they passed through appeared before her eyes, its neatly arranged houses like stacked blocks.
Under Evelyn's palm lay the cool scales of the dragon, which were gradually absorbing her body temperature. Evelyn didn't quite understand why Violet suddenly transformed into a dragon, but she wasn't frightened by her.
This is also thanks to the "dragon-proof education" that the king and queen gave Evelyn since she was a child.
Evelyn had seen many dragon illustrations and picture books since she was a child. The dragons in them varied in size, but their only commonality was their gaping maws, bloodstained teeth, and hideous faces. After so many years of seeing them, Evelyn had long since lost any psychological impact.
The moment Violet transformed into a dragon before Evelyn, her first thought wasn't "She's a dragon" but "This is my Violet." The enormous black dragon before her, with its jet-black scales and massive body, exuded a powerful aura even more intense than anything Evelyn had read about in books. Yet, when those golden eyes gazed upon her, there was no ferocity in them, only tentativeness and worry. She gripped her collar with her teeth with caution, not daring to exert even a little more force.
A dragon like this would only make Evelyn want to open her arms and hug it. How could she be afraid?
Violet didn't dare to fly at full speed. Firstly, it was her first time flying with someone and she was not very experienced. Secondly, she was not sure if Evelin was used to it.
Throughout the journey, Violet was multitasking. While flying, she was paying attention to Evelyn's every move.
In Violet's original plan, she would enter Violet Academy to meet the princess, become friends with the princess, then close friends and even have a closer relationship with her. Only after that would she reveal her identity.
Judging from the way the king and queen were terrified and secretive about the dragon, Violet didn't think the princess could accept her identity well, so she planned to take it slow.
But now, Evelyn knew her identity in advance and appeared beside her, and Vilt's heart was inclined towards the person she "met by chance".
Now that she knows I'm a dragon, let's just go straight to the last step.
Fortunately, there was no fear in Evelyn's eyes. She did not resist Violet, the dragon, nor did she show any trembling or timid reaction.
Even if there was, Violet had no intention of letting Evelin go.
From the moment she took Evelyn away from Violet Academy, Violet left no way out for herself, nor did she leave any room for retreat for Her Royal Highness the Princess.
Violet took Evelyn back to the deepest part of the Foto Forest and dropped directly from the balcony at the top of the castle. As she was about to land, Violet shrank her body, quickly transforming into a human form, and landed steadily with her arms around Evelyn's waist.
"Is this my room?" After landing, Violet did not let go of her hand immediately, and Evelyn had no intention of breaking free. She half-leaned in Violet's arms and looked at the room from the balcony.
It was already pitch dark, illuminated only by the dim light of two lamps at the castle's first-floor entrance and the moon overhead. In the pitch darkness, Evelyn felt that the balcony's structure looked familiar.
She looked left and right and the more she looked, the more she felt that this place resembled her balcony in the palace.
Evelyn's hair swept across the side of Vilt's neck again and again as she looked around.
Violet held Evelyn tightly in order to satisfy the unspeakable thoughts in her heart, but when Evelyn was in a good state of acceptance, Violet was the first to surrender.
Violet let go of her hand, opened the balcony door, led Evelyn into the bedroom, and turned on the light.
"This is your room, have a good rest. Don't think about running away." Violet added the second half of the sentence in a particularly stiff manner.
Evelyn looked at Violet, who had dropped all her disguises in front of her. Even her eyes had turned back to golden yellow.
"It's so dark outside, and there are monsters everywhere. Where can I run to?" Evelyn said with a smile, completely forgetting her heroic act of burning half the forest.
Vilt's ears turned red at Evelin's deliberately prolonged ending tone. She tried to keep her face expressionless and said "hmm", then turned and left the balcony - she remembered to lock the balcony before leaving.
After Vilt left, Evelyn sat down on the edge of the bed.
Just as she had seen on the dark balcony, not only was the layout and structure of the balcony similar to the palace, but even the bedroom's furnishings bore many familiar features. The placement of the bed and wardrobe, the books on the bookshelf, the stuffed animals on the dresser... Evelin, as if to verify something, walked over to the wardrobe and opened it. Two wall-high cabinets against the wall were filled with clothes, all of her favorite styles. The fabrics and cuts were all from the tailors who often made her clothes. They were even more carefully prepared than those at Violet Academy.
Evelyn didn't know how Violet had achieved this.
She seemed to have been watching me for many, many years, yet I hadn't noticed at all. Evelyn thought of the defensive magic on her bedroom balcony in the palace, which was becoming increasingly strong year by year.
The strength of those magics was completely incomparable to that of Violet Academy. Violet could easily break the defensive magic of Violet Academy, but those outside Evelyn's bedroom had remained safe and sound for nearly eighteen years.
Evelin couldn't describe her current mood. She only knew that if Violet were in front of her now, she would tell her without hesitation that she would be locked up here for the rest of her life.
As long as it was done by Violet, there was nothing wrong with it.
Raising her hand and clutching her collar tightly, Evelin’s eyes flushed red, and her heart felt sour.
Evelin walked towards the door, but when she reached it, she stopped suddenly. The door of this room was surprisingly ordinary. Evelin's breathing lightened, and she loosened her grip on her collar and pressed the doorknob.
With a click, the door opened, not locked.
“Virta…” Evelin called Vilt’s name almost aggrievedly.
How should I love you...
The night deepened and the moon disappeared behind the clouds.
Violet quietly appeared beside Evelyn's bed. Evelyn was already fast asleep and had no idea of Violet's presence.
Outside the window, a gust of wind blew away the clouds in front of the moon, and a ray of moonlight shone into the room. Violet clearly saw Evelyn's red nose and the corners of her eyes.
She cried.
Violet raised her hand and gently stroked the side of her face.
Don't be afraid of me.
Violet did not take off her black cloak, and her whole body was shrouded in it.
Suddenly, the cloak fell to the ground, and a palm-sized dragon peeped out from under the cloak. It was small, flapping its wings, and finally landed lightly on Evelin's pillow and closed its eyes.
The next day.
Evelin opened her eyes and saw a darkened bedroom. The curtains had been drawn at some point.
She sat up. Breakfast was placed on a table not far away, kept fresh and warm by magic. There were ten items in total, all prepared according to royal standards.
After a simple wash, Evelin came to the dining table and sat down. It was at this time that she found a folded piece of letter next to her breakfast. Evelin opened the letter and saw the words on it that she had seen last night.
[After dinner, I came to the first floor. —Virte]
As if worried that Evelyn wouldn't be able to find the stairs, Violet drew a simple topographic map next to the clumsy words.
And Violet woke up early before dawn, quietly left Evelyn's bedroom, and went to the kitchen to make breakfast for her princess.
When she put breakfast in Evelin's room, she was still sleeping soundly. Violet didn't disturb her. She left a note and ran to the basement to clean up. It took her two hours to clean up.
The skylark on the roof heard the noise coming from inside the house and quickly flew to the basement to report.
"Her Royal Highness the Princess has woken up and is sitting at the dining table reading a letter." Skylark chirped.
"Yeah." Violet nodded, looking a little nervous. She was covered in dust, but the basement was already cleaned up and she could go back to her room to change.
After returning to her castle, Violet no longer needed to wear the wandering magician's outfit, but her wardrobe was full of black clothes. Although the tailoring was exquisite, the color was not as good as the magician's.
Originally, Violet would not have noticed these things.
Violet looked at the clothes in the closet and thought for a moment before putting on the magician's suit and vest. She thought Evelin would be more accepting of this familiar outfit.
Thinking this way, Violet walked out of the bedroom and went straight upstairs.
"Sir, aren't you planning to go to the first floor to wait for the princess?" Skylark flapped its wings and followed Violet, reminding her.
Violet paused. "You can leave now," she said.
Evelyn was still having breakfast when Violet came to Evelyn's room, and the letter she wrote to Evelyn that morning was no longer on the table.
Evelyn heard the sound at the door and looked up at Vilt. Facing Vilt dressed as a magician, Evelyn narrowed her eyes and greeted her, "Want to eat together?" Her tone and expression were very natural, just like every morning they had spent together before.
Vilt didn't refuse and sat down next to Evelin, who was still in her pajamas. Vilt raised her hand and touched Evelin's wrist to feel her body temperature. After confirming that her temperature was normal, she picked up a piece of bread and spread jam on it. "Are you used to it?"
"Very good. It's just that I've been sleeping alone for the past two days, so I'm a little uncomfortable." Evelin said.
Violet's eyelashes trembled.
