Violet stopped walking until she could no longer see the fire in the tent. She rubbed her neck with her fingers, and the touch of Evelyn's hair had not yet dissipated.

Violet moved her head in some surprise. She was not an ignorant dragon who knew nothing. After so many years in the human world, she knew the distance and measure between people.

My mind couldn’t help but recall some scenes since I met Evelin.

Evelyn was an unguarded person, and [Vilte] was the first "good person" she had met outside. Violet blinked, feeling that they needed to arrive at Violet Academy sooner.

Violet wasn't lying when she said she was going out to check the surroundings. Many of the wild beasts and monsters in the forest were active at night. The fire they lit in front of their tent could drive away the wild beasts, but for some monsters, the fire was an attraction.

After walking a distance further, Violet hid in the darkness, and her golden dragon eyes appeared again. She compressed the dragon's breath into a thread and spread it outward with herself as the center.

Violet had a clear view of everything in the forest. Under her dragon breath, not only the wild beasts and low-level magical beasts on the surface of the forest, but even the middle and high-level magical beasts a hundred miles away had their tails between their legs and fled.

After driving away the beast, Vilt retracted her dragon breath. She blinked, and her golden pupils slowly turned back to dark green. Her gaze paused for a moment at a certain location, and Vilt took out a pocket watch from her body.

She stared at the moving hands of her pocket watch, stayed in the woods for a while, and then slowly went back.

Back at the tent, Evelyn was still sitting outside adding wood to the fire.

The temperature in the woods grew colder. Evelin put on a coat and stretched out her hands to warm herself by the fire. When she heard Violet's footsteps, she raised her head expressionlessly and said in a muffled voice, "Are you back?"

“Yeah.” Seeing Evelin’s expression, Violet stammered, “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

"You went into the forest by yourself. How could I possibly get into the tent?" Evelyn muttered. After saying this, she gathered her clothes and stood up. "Now I can go in."

Violet sighed softly, "Get some rest early, we have to go into the forest again tomorrow."

"I see." Evelyn said.

The two of them simultaneously ignored Evelyn's approach and Violet's evasion not long ago.

Violet sat down in front of the fire. She was not afraid of the cold and even felt a little hot from the warmth of the fire. Violet raised her hand, rolled up her sleeves, and added some more firewood to the fire.

The burning wood made a slight crackling sound, which did not seem eerie in the silent forest.

Evelyn walked into the tent wrapped in clothes. There was a kerosene lamp hanging in the corner of the tent. After she entered the tent, Violet helped her lower the door curtain. The curtain blocked the cold outside, and she didn't feel very cold after covering herself with the quilt.

The temperature of her hands and feet gradually warmed up, and Evelin subconsciously took out a deck of playing cards from her pocket to practice cutting the cards - this had become her habit.

Evelyn lowered her head to look at the playing cards between her fingers, then raised her head to look at Violet's shadow through the tent. She was waiting for her to come in.

However, half a day passed, and apart from the sound of burning wood outside, there was no movement from the man whose shadow was cast on the tent.

What's going on? Evelin frowned, her fingers pinching the cards. She remembered how Violet had avoided her before. Was Violet not planning to come in?

After waiting for a while, Violet outside still showed no intention of coming in. Evelin didn't plan to wait any longer. She threw down the playing cards, stood up, lifted the curtain and walked out of the tent.

Hearing the noise behind her, and seeing Evelin coming out with a frown, Vilt was a little surprised, "Why are you out?"

"When are you going to sleep in the tent?" Evelyn asked directly without answering Violet's question.

Violet was silent.

Evelyn understood. She looked at the small pile of branches beside Violet and reached out to throw them all into the fire. Then Evelyn raised her hand to strengthen the fire element of the fire. "Okay, don't worry. The fire will burn until dawn."

After saying that, Evelin didn't give Violet a chance to think. She grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the tent without saying anything.

Vilt hadn’t expected Evelin’s hand to be so strong, and she couldn’t break free for a moment, so she could only passively follow her.

Evelyn didn't let go until they entered the tent, sat Violet down, and covered her with a blanket.

After collecting the cards that had just been thrown aside, Evelyn and Violet sat side by side.

The tent was not cramped, but considering someone's "old-fashioned" nature, Evelyn consciously kept some distance from Violet.

The forest was very quiet. The crackling sound of the wood in the fire was much quieter because of Evelyn's fire magic. They could even hear each other's breathing in the tent that was like a lonely boat.

"The forest is so quiet. When I first came here, the sounds of wind, leaves and wild animals were heard all over the place at night." Evelyn turned her head and looked at Violet, as if she was making small talk.

"You know why I came here before." Evelin paused. "I've had a lot of people serving me since I was a child. Everyone, including my parents... and brothers, did whatever I wanted. What others thought was never a consideration for me before."

Violet didn't quite understand why Evelyn said that, but she nodded in understanding. Although she didn't say anything, her expression said, "You are a noble lady and you should be like this."

Evelin was a little upset. She didn't want this kind of understanding from Violet! It was as if she was really some unruly and willful young lady!

Seeing that her roundabout approach was useless to Violet, Evelyn spoke directly, "I forgot you've always been alone and probably aren't used to people suddenly approaching you. But I didn't mean anything else at the time; it was just a friendly gesture. If you don't like me, just don't do that in the future. It's nothing to be alone outside the tent, watching the fire instead of sleeping. Can I still eat you?"

After hearing Evelyn's words, Violet realized that the other party's previous confession was a roundabout explanation.

A hint of laughter filled her eyes. One of the reasons why Vilt stayed outside was that she wanted to keep some distance from Evelin. However, if she told the truth now, she was afraid that the young lady would get angry again. So, Vilt explained, "I'm worried about wild animals at night. It would be safer to have someone to keep watch."

"I, Miss Evelyn, am a magician with outstanding abilities. Not to mention wild beasts, I can even drive away magical beasts. Don't even think about sleeping." Evelyn said, not giving Violet a chance, and forcefully pressed her shoulders to make her lie down.

"Eh..." Violet struggled subconsciously and wanted to say something.

Evelin didn't give her the chance, "Sleep!"

The kerosene lamp in the corner was still on. Evelyn looked at Violet, who had closed her eyes beside her, and with satisfaction, she withdrew her gaze. She looked at the top of the tent and curled the corners of her lips.

The arm on the side closest to Violet fell naturally, and Evelin's fingers groped until they touched the quilt, and then she closed her eyes.

A dreamless night.

On the other side of the forest, a small team was walking hurriedly from west to east.

They formed a surrounding formation, protecting the person in the white cloak in the middle.

"How long will it take?" The woman in the white cloak looked at the sky and said with some impatience. Her tone was crisp and it was obvious that she was a woman.

"Don't be impatient, Princess. We'll let you rest once we reach a safe place." The swordsman who was leading the way heard the woman's impatient voice and suppressed his temper.

"I don't know how you led the way. We actually ran into a group of monsters in the middle of the night." Her Royal Highness the Princess complained.

"If you..." The swordsman wanted to say something, but his words were lost in the cold gaze of the tight-fitting woman next to the princess.

The woman looked at the topographic map in her hand and said, "Your Highness, it will take about another quarter of an hour to reach a place where we can rest."

"Hmph." The princess snorted, "I hope this resting place is truly safe."

Violet has always been a person who sleeps little and is very sensitive. When the sky was just getting light, she felt footsteps in the distance.

Although the footsteps were a bit messy, they were generally orderly. They should be a well-trained mercenary team.

It was normal to see mercenaries in the forest. Vilt closed her eyes and planned to wait for the sun to rise before waking Evelyn up.

However, the footsteps in her ears did not fade away but got closer. She heard someone say, "Captain, there are footprints ahead. I wonder if it's someone!"

Violet suddenly opened her eyes, the dagger already in her hand.

Just as Vilt was about to get up and go outside to find out what was going on, Evelin woke up at some point. She pressed Vilt's shoulders with a sober look on her face, "Someone's coming. I don't know if they're good or bad. I'm going to go out and take a look."

Violet sat up, the dagger she had held in her hand already sheathed. Footsteps were approaching from outside the tent, but Violet didn't follow them out. She just said, "Be careful."

"good."

The sun was still hidden behind the clouds, and the sky in the forest was a little gray, with no sunlight.

The fire outside the tent had gone out. Evelyn sat in Vilt's place the night before, looking clueless. She didn't mind the dirtiness and picked up an unburned branch to pick at the ashes, as if she came out just to make sure the fire was out.

A small group of mercenaries soon appeared not far from the tent. It was a team of ten. The leading swordsman had scars from sharp claws on his body. They were panting and had just finished a fierce battle.

The mercenaries saw that the people were still in a surrounding formation. A man in a white cloak was faintly visible in the middle of the team. Under the cloak, there were complex and dense patterns. Evelyn recognized it at a glance. It was a defensive cloak. Only nobles or royals could wear such a cloak.

"Who are you?" Evelyn looked at the mercenary team warily and took the initiative.

"Don't get me wrong, we're mercenaries from the Mercenary Guild. We're just passing through and mean no harm." A woman in tight clothes stepped out of the group, sheathing her sword. "Last night when we entered the forest, we encountered stressed wild beasts and low-level magical beasts. We were caught off guard and got a bit embarrassed."

Evelin didn't say anything, but an impatient voice came from the white cloak in the middle of the mercenary team, "Why are you talking so much to him? How can he understand this country bumpkin from nowhere? Where are you going to set up camp? I'm so sleepy after not sleeping all night."

“I’m sorry, my employer is a little anxious after running around all night.” The woman apologized, but her eyes kept looking at the tent behind Evelin.

Evelyn frowned.

Violet could clearly hear the conversation between Evelyn and the mercenaries in the tent. She did not stay in the tent any longer, but walked over to Evelyn, and her eyes met with the woman who had been looking at the tent.

The woman didn't feel embarrassed when her probing gaze was discovered. She slowly withdrew her gaze and raised her chin to signal the others to go to the other side of the open space. "Set up the tent there."

"Yes." The woman was the captain of this mercenary team. As soon as she finished speaking, the people in the team divided the work independently.

Except for the White Mantle.

The hood of the white cloak was removed, revealing golden hair and a beautiful face.

Without the hood blocking her view, she looked at Evelyn and Violet unabashedly. After judging them with her eyes, she snorted, "Two pretty boys."
