Chapter 55: The back-and-forth is even more torturous.
A woman in an apricot-yellow dress walked out from behind the door. As soon as she looked up, Jiang Zhishui was startled. Two identical faces appeared at the same time. It would be strange if Jing Qianheng in this life didn't go crazy.
Just as she was at a loss, she suddenly felt an inexplicable pull on her body. She turned around involuntarily, and the moment the woman saw her face, she turned her back. She stared wide-eyed at the Jade Emperor, and her body was being controlled by some force to walk towards him and throw herself into his arms.
The Jade Emperor embraced her, covering her head with his sleeves and hiding her completely.
When the woman saw the Jade Emperor embracing someone else in front of her gate, her face turned extremely ugly, but she still managed to raise the corners of her mouth and gently call out, "Emperor?"
Jiang Zhishui struggled slightly, but the Azure Jade Emperor pressed down on her neck with one hand, slightly suppressing her, showing no intention of letting her go.
The other "Jiang Zhishui" stared resentfully at the person in his arms. She stepped forward slowly and said in a calm tone, "Your Majesty, why have you come in person today? If you wanted to see me, you could have just sent someone to summon me."
She seemed oblivious to the intimate behavior of the two people before her, and simply asked, "And who is this young lady?"
Jiang Zhishui was held very tightly by him. She could feel the turbulent rise and fall of his chest. She was caught between the Jade Emperor and another version of herself, and her scalp tingled with fear, and her mind was in agony.
The Jade Emperor coldly replied, "You don't need to know."
He then swept Jiang Zhishui up in his arms, turned around, and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Two maids stepped forward, one of them saying indignantly, "Miss, how could the Emperor be like this? He even brought a woman of unknown background to show off in front of you!"
Another, more composed maid glanced at Jiang Zhishui's pale face and whispered to comfort her, "Miss, don't panic. The Emperor must be trying to provoke you, to make you jealous. In the end, it's because he cares about you too much."
Jiang Zhishui bit her lip and said angrily, "Find out who that woman is!"
Inside the Thousand Realms Peak Palace.
Emperor Qingyu carried Jiang Zhishui into the bedchamber. He gently placed her on the bed. As soon as the restraints on Jiang Zhishui's body were removed, she immediately got up in a panic to get off the bed. He bent down and pressed her shoulders, pushing her further into the bed to prevent her from escaping.
Unable to bear his strange and domineering oppression, Jiang Zhishui, in a fit of terror, punched him hard in the face. The mask fell off, revealing a pair of sinister and angry eyes staring fiercely at her. Lying on the bed, she was terrified and subconsciously apologized, "I'm so sorry..."
Before she could finish speaking, he pounced on her and bit her slender neck.
With a fierce expression and retracted teeth, he bit down hard and stickily. Jiang Zhishui's pupils trembled. She raised her chin and reached out to push him away, but he grabbed her wrist and pushed her into the blanket, pressing her down. At that moment, his lips slid down to her throat.
Jiang Zhishui couldn't help but close her eyes, her shoes still on, her knees bent, her feet rubbing together laboriously on the bed. He got up and looked at Jiang Zhishui's dazed eyes, this time gently approaching her, skillfully prying open her lips.
During their passionate encounter, she tried hard to regain her senses, but to no avail.
Her breathing was heavy and uncontrollable. Each time she was on the verge of death, he would separate her appropriately, leaving her a breathing space, but he was not very merciful. He would leave her for only a moment before overwhelming her again.
Even in his first and second lives, Jing Qianheng was sometimes unrestrained when confused, but never before had he been so obsessed and relentless as he was now.
Moreover, he now seemed to be filled with indescribable resentment, biting and licking with fierce intent, as if he wanted to devour her, yet at the crucial moment he showed mercy and let her go. This back and forth made her even more tormented.
Jiang Zhishui truly felt that abnormal invasion. Tears welled in her eyes, her face flushed, and she couldn't bear it any longer. She parted her lips, her voice weak and delicate: "Don't do this..."
His eyes were gleaming with an insatiable crimson, his breathing was extremely erratic, and he couldn't hear anything at all. His eyes were fixed on her rosy, moist lips. He leaned down, and just as he touched them, Jiang Zhishui struggled to push him away, her voice trembling with anger: "I told you not to do this!"
Jing Qianheng froze, bracing himself with one hand behind his back. He sat on the bed, his clothes draped diagonally across his arm, staring innocently at Jiang Zhishui.
Jiang Zhishui was in a sorry state, her hair was disheveled, her neck was stained with a shameful blush, obvious teeth marks were around her neck, her cheeks were flushed, and there were still some strands of saliva stuck to her lips.
Both of them sat on the bed in a daze. Jiang Zhishui couldn't recover for a long time. The hall was extremely quiet. Beside her was a madman who would bite people. His gaze was burning and staring at her intently. She didn't even have the courage to look up at him, for fear that she might accidentally provoke him and he would do it again.
"..." Jing Qianheng probably got tired of staring and took the initiative to speak, "Is there anything you want to ask me?"
Jiang Zhishui blinked, finally looking in his direction, and said in a hoarse voice, "There are many. First of all, where did you get that bracelet on your wrist?"
“A puppeteer gave it to me.” Jing Qianheng straightened his clothes, glanced down at her red lips, his eyes slightly shimmering. He looked away and said calmly, “This thing is only useful for my puppets.”
Jiang Zhishui frowned, looked him up and down, and asked in confusion, "This thing shouldn't be in your hands."
Jing Qianheng replied indifferently, "Is that so? Then who should have it?"
Jiang Zhishui pursed her lips, unsure of where to begin.
"Don't want to talk about it?" Jing Qianheng reached forward with the hand wearing the bracelet, and Jiang Zhishui immediately became alert. He raised the corner of his mouth slightly and slowly placed his hand on the bed. "Then I'll tell you. This bracelet was given to me by the puppeteer Jiang Li when we met her while investigating the Mu Ziyuan murder case. You were very unwilling at the time and tried to take it away secretly several times."
“I’ve never used this on you before, right?” Jing Qianheng sat up straight again and said in a low voice, “Do you know why?”
Jiang Zhishui's eyes trembled slightly as she stared at the person before her in disbelief. These were all things she had experienced together with Jing Qianheng in her second life, so why did Jing Qianheng in her first life know them so clearly?!
"Who exactly are you?" Jiang Zhishui took a deep breath, her mind a jumbled mess. She didn't know where things were wrong, and murmured, "How could this be?"
Although she had an unrealistic guess in her mind, it was so outrageous that even she couldn't convince herself.
Jing Qianheng said indifferently, "What is impossible?"
"Did you die and come back to life? Or did I jump off the cliff with you and inexplicably end up in this strange place? Since arriving here, everyone calls me the Azure Jade Emperor. I also have a wife. Every time I appear before you, you're terrified, like everyone else, afraid to look at me, avoiding me. I don't know if that person is you..."
"But before I could figure it out, you suddenly died, your spirit vanished, and you disappeared completely."
"Do you know how confused I am? I don't want to admit that it's you, but I can't find you anywhere in this world. I tried everything to protect your body, hoping that one day you would come back, just like I inexplicably came here. But guess what I got after waiting for three years?"
"Another you, someone who is not you but looks exactly like you."
“Every time I see that Jiang Zhishui hovering in front of me, I feel like I must be going crazy! Otherwise, how could such a thing happen in this world? If I'm not crazy, then are you just a fake? Did you never exist?”
His expression turned sinister, and he snarled, "It would be better if I went mad!"
Jiang Zhishui trembled slightly from his shout; her heart was filled with excitement that was hard to calm. She never expected that Jing Qianheng would follow her after the lightning strike and even jump off the cliff with her.
Moreover, that lightning strike actually sent him back to the time before her first life, before she died!
But why is there a three-year difference? Didn't they come together?
The lightning strike was specially prepared for her by the system. Was it because Jing Qianheng arrived uninvited that the time travel went wrong?
Jiang Zhishui felt extremely guilty. She remained silent for a long time, unable to sort out her thoughts and explain things to him properly.
She could only say, "Qianheng, you're not crazy. This world is different from our original world... I did die once in this world, but that's not important. I have a way to go back to the original time and space. As long as I can go back to our original world, that's fine."
Jiang Zhishui was also in a state of confusion. All she wanted to do right now was get the artifact and return to her second life first.
Jing Qianheng's eyes flickered slightly, and he calmly said, "You seem to understand these absurd situations quite well?"
"You chose to leave, chose to jump off the cliff, and you already knew you would be sent here, didn't you?"
Jiang Zhishui had no way to defend herself and honestly replied, "Yes."
Jing Qianheng glanced at her, got up from the bed, and with his back to her, suddenly changed the subject: "What is the way to return to the original world?"
Jiang Zhishui looked up at his back and said, "I found a divine artifact that can travel through time and space. I think that thing should be the phoenix feather that I was holding on my corpse."
Jing Qianheng stiffened for a moment. "Then you've found it. You just need to go and get it."
“Yes, we can leave once we get the artifact.” Jiang Zhishui got out of bed and walked behind him. Her hair was messy, and she didn’t care about her disheveled clothes. She said carefully, “Qianheng, I know you’re confused. I can’t explain these things clearly right now. I’ll tell you slowly when we get back.”
I really don't know where to begin. Should I tell him that we're just characters in a novel, acting according to the plot? He might think she's the one who's gone mad.
Jing Qianheng shook his head and said, "No, you can't go back."
He reached out and touched the bracelet, and Jiang Zhishui's pupils trembled; she was unable to move again.
“You stay here with me.” Jing Qianheng turned around, gently stroked her cheek, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear with his fingers. “We’re not going anywhere.”
Jiang Zhishui tried to move her fingers, but couldn't muster any strength. She frowned and said, "Qianheng, you can't stay here. The artifact must be returned."
Jing Qianheng's brows furrowed with anger, and he said firmly, "I said, I won't go back."
