Chapter 13 What audacity! Daring to mess with college students…

Chapter Thirteen

Ji Zhi Qiu struggled for a long time before finally managing to pull himself out, but lost his balance and fell to the ground with a thud.

Fortunately, it wasn't a high fall, so no bones were broken. He just grimaced in pain, his face contorted, and his hair stood on end due to static electricity, making him look very messy.

Ji Yanyan hadn't heard a sound for a long time. Although she didn't turn around to look, her small body swayed back and forth anxiously, like a big fat worm wriggling.

Ji Zhi Qiu forced himself to stand up despite the pain, patted the grass off his bottom, and then walked over as if nothing had happened: "Okay, you can open your eyes now."

Ji Yanyan was preoccupied with the kitten and didn't pay attention to Ji Zhiqi's current state. She grabbed his hand and rushed forward.

Ji Zhi Qiu knew that the kitten was now being cared for by its mother, so their going there would be pointless, but not wanting to ruin Ji Yan Yan's kind gesture, she still led him over.

"Daddy, where did the kitten go?"

Ji Zhi Qiu smiled and said, "He went home with his mother."

Ji Yanyan blinked her big, watery eyes, "Will we ever see him again?"

Ji Zhi Qiu ruffled his hair. "Of course, we'll see each other again."

Ji Yanyan felt somewhat comforted and nodded, then reluctantly left with Ji Zhi Qiu.

...

When Ji Zhi Qiu saw her eldest son at the door, she realized that they had wasted too much time rescuing the cat and apologized repeatedly.

Ji Zishen's mind involuntarily conjured up the image of that pert buttock sandwiched between tree branches. He remained silent for a few seconds, then looked at him with a subtle expression.

Ji Zhi Qiu was still trying to maintain the image of a proper old father, but little did he know that his father had already lost all face. He asked in a strained voice, "Zi Shen, what do you want to eat for lunch today? Dad will make it for you."

Ji Zishen came to his senses and was about to have an acting contest with Ji Zhiqi when he remembered his lackluster cooking skills.

"I want to eat braised pork," Ji Zishen said with a smile, his eyes crinkling, looking completely innocent.

Ji Zhi Qiu paused in his movements, a troubled expression on his face.

He was a complete novice in the kitchen, and braised pork was a bit too much for him. After thinking for a few seconds, he said, "Braised pork takes a long time to stew. I don't have time for lunch today, so how about I make it for you tonight?"

Ji Zishen always kept his emotions hidden, but this time he deliberately showed disappointment before smiling again a few seconds later, "Okay, I'll listen to Dad."

Ji Zhi Qiu cooked several dishes, the only advantage of which was that they were cooked through. None of them tasted good. Apart from Ji Yan Yan eating with great relish, the rest of the two, one big and one small, picked up their chopsticks expressionlessly and finally filled their stomachs.

After lunch break, Ji Zishen went to school again with his little schoolbag on his back.

All afternoon, no matter how much knowledge washed over his brain, that big butt kept lingering in his mind, making it impossible for him to imagine that Ji Zhi Qiu was a deep-seated bad guy.

But Ji Zishen was not easily fooled and did not let his guard down. He wanted to test Ji Zhiqi again after returning home, but as soon as he opened the door, he smelled a fragrance.

Ji Zhi Qiu came out carrying a bowl of braised pork, smiling and calling out, "Come wash your hands and eat!"

Ji Zishen stood there, stunned, staring blankly at him.

Ji Zhi Qiu had always been very biased, only caring about his own son and ignoring his requests. He never expected that Ji Zhi Qiu would take his casual remark at noon so seriously and actually fulfill his request.

In just two short days, Ji Zhi Qiu brought him too many surprises, and Ji Zi Shen's gaze became even more complicated as he looked at him leisurely.

After washing their hands, the adult and two children sat down at the dining table.

Ji Zhi Qiu pretended to be nonchalant, but kept a close eye on Ji Zi Shen's reaction.

This was his first time making braised pork. Although he was very satisfied and felt that he had done an exceptional job, he was still a little nervous.

Ji Zishen pretended not to notice anything, picked up a piece of meat with alternating layers of fat and lean meat, and put it in his mouth.

"..." Hmm, it's cooked, you can eat it.

He remained calm inside, but feigned surprise, looking at Ji Zhi Qiu with starry eyes, "Dad's braised pork is so delicious!"

Ji Zhi Qiu was flattered and acted exactly like his own son, swaying back and forth in his chair for no reason.

Seeing this, Ji Zishen lowered his head, his emotions a jumbled mess.

He actually really enjoys cooking, and his culinary skills are much better than Ji Zhi Qiu's.

His previous adoptive parents often beat and scolded him, treating him as a burden and dumping housework on him. It was around that time that Ji Zishen began to learn how to cook.

Strangely, he didn't dislike it. Children have abundant energy, and cooking is a good way to develop their hands-on skills. Watching the ingredients change their appearance, Ji Zishen inexplicably felt a sense of calm and order.

Moreover, cooking gave him the illusion of self-reliance. He was no longer trapped in this small body, no longer subject to the beatings and control of his guardian, and could live freely in this world.

But this was just wishful thinking. Ji Zishen knew very well that he could only slowly wait for time to pass and grow up before he could get the freedom and respect he wanted.

After being adopted by Ji Zhi Qiu, he was afraid of causing unnecessary trouble and kept it hidden, but now the thought in his heart was stirring.

It was absolutely awful! The piece of pork belly in the bowl had a perfect balance of fat and lean meat, it was so perfectly marbled, it was no easy feat for it to grow to this size, how could they just waste it like that?!

Ji Zishen endured it all, barely managing to conceal his true emotions, and finished the terribly bland braised pork with no appetite.

Education is of paramount importance in the adult world. After dinner, without Ji Zhi Qiu's prompting, Ji Zi Shen took the initiative to go to the study to do his homework and even assigned himself extra tasks.

Ji Zhi Qiu was very pleased and happy to have some free time, and spent a fairly pleasant night, but an unexpected incident still occurred before she went to sleep.

Ji Yanyan has been relatively well-behaved lately, no longer causing trouble or throwing tantrums. He clung to her and begged for a long time, wanting to watch cartoons, and Ji Zhi Qiu softened and agreed.

Unexpectedly, this stirred up a hornet's nest. When it was time to go to bed, Ji Yanyan was still wide awake, her eyes glued to the TV, unwilling to blink.

Ji Zhi Qiu frowned, intending to forcibly turn off the TV, but as soon as he picked up the remote, Ji Yan Yan stood up abruptly and shouted, "No, I haven't finished watching yet!"

The screams of a child are extremely dangerous. Ji Zhi Qiu's eardrums throbbed with pain, so she quickly came over and covered his mouth with her hand. "It's evening now. You'll disturb the neighbors if you speak loudly. Be careful someone comes knocking on the door. I won't be there to protect you then!"

Ji Yanyan pouted, looking unconvinced.

Ji Zhi Qiu tried to bribe him: "If you behave well, I'll let you watch cartoons for another half hour tomorrow."

"I don't want to, I want to see it now!" Ji Yanyan jumped around on the sofa, acting so naughty that you wanted to slap him.

If physical punishment is used, Ji Yanyan will definitely cry loudly, and then the residents of the whole building will probably come looking for her. Ji Zhi Qiu suppressed this idea, put his hands on his hips and glared at Ji Yanyan.

Ji Yanyan, however, thought that Ji Zhiqi couldn't do anything to him, so he became even more arrogant and lay on the sofa acting spoiled, "If you don't let me watch TV, I'll yell loudly and I won't eat!"

"..."

Ji Zhi Qiu was silent for two seconds, then suddenly laughed, her expression gentle. She reached out and patted Ji Yan Yan's head. "Do you like watching cartoons so much? How about we watch them all night?"

Ji Yanyan could hardly believe her ears, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Really?!"

"Really." Ji Zhi Qiu reverted to being the "good father" he used to be, treating his son like an emperor and indulging his every whim.

Ji Yanyan jumped up happily, snuggled up to Ji Zhi Qiu affectionately, and hugged his arm sweetly, saying, "Daddy, you're the best!"

Ji Zhi Qiu's expression remained unchanged as he gave him a meaningful look. Ji Yan Yan was too young to notice the danger in his smile and continued to happily watch the cartoon.

The scream had disturbed Ji Zishen, so he walked over and secretly observed through the crack in the door.

He had previously thought that Ji Zhi Qiu had changed and no longer spoiled his youngest son without any limits, but his current actions suddenly made him want to laugh.

A fool will only raise another big fool. It's a simple truth that spoiling a child is like killing him, but fools can't understand it.

Ji Zishen silently closed the door, not wanting to waste any more time on this foolish father and son.

...

Time passed by, and it was already 10 p.m. Usually, Ji Yanyan would have been sound asleep by this time, but this time she was able to sit on the sofa and watch cartoons, feeling incredibly happy.

At first, he was a little guilty and timidly peeked at Ji Zhi Qiu, but Ji Zhi Qiu was sitting on the other side of the sofa playing on her phone, looking even more relaxed and engrossed than him, so Ji Yan Yan finally felt at ease.

Time continued to pass, and it was 11 p.m.

With her biological clock finally kicking in, Ji Yanyan felt her eyelids getting heavier and heavier, and couldn't help but let out a big yawn.

He still didn't want to go to sleep, so he forced himself to stay awake and watched cartoons with his eyes wide open.

In the past, when watching cartoons, he always felt that time flew by and he could never get enough of them, but at this moment it was extremely agonizing for him. Ji Yanyan tried hard to hold on for a long time, but only fifteen minutes had passed.

He yawned again, finally unable to sit still, swayed from side to side a couple of times, and collapsed onto the sofa.

Ji Yanyan found a comfortable position, eagerly closed her eyes, and was about to drift off to sleep when her body was suddenly lifted into the air.

"!!!" He opened his eyes in disbelief and saw Ji Zhi Qiu standing expressionlessly beside him.

"Didn't you keep saying you wanted to watch cartoons all night? Keep going." Ji Zhi Qiu fiddled with the triangular rice ball, making him sit up straight.

Ji Yanyan pouted in dissatisfaction, but it was indeed his request. Long Aotian was very concerned about his reputation, so he couldn't say anything and could only force himself to continue watching.

But cartoons suddenly lost their appeal to him, and even his favorite cartoon characters became annoying and noisy.

I really want to go to sleep, lol.

Ji Yanyan secretly glanced at Ji Zhi Qiu, and seeing that Ji Zhi Qiu's attention was on his phone, she secretly jumped off the sofa, wanting to run to the bedroom.

But he had barely taken a step when Ji Zhi Qiu caught him red-handed. "Where are you going?"

Ji Yanyan froze, experiencing embarrassment for the first time at such a young age. She twisted her fingers, turned around, chuckled, and dared not meet Ji Zhi Qiu's gaze.

"If you're not going to talk, then keep watching." Ji Zhi Qiu patted the spot next to her.

Ji Yanyan reluctantly climbed up, her face scrunched up. "Dad, why aren't you sleepy?"

Ji Zhi Qiu glanced at the time, looking completely bewildered: "It's only midnight! The wonderful nightlife is just beginning. What's there to be sleepy about? Let's get up and have some fun!"

Ji Yanyan: "..."

Seeing that Ji Zhi Qiu wouldn't budge, he had no way to back down, so he could only sit back down dejectedly, propping his chin up and trying to watch his favorite cartoon.

Ten minutes later, Ji Yanyan experienced the agony of each passing day. He slumped to the side, trying to feign unconsciousness, but only a minute later, Ji Zhi Qiu lifted him up again.

Ji Yanyan had no way to express her suffering, so she could only sleep sitting up. But she couldn't hold on for long before her body started to sway and fall backward.

Ji Zhi Qiu patiently pulled him up each time, urging him to continue watching cartoons.

After this happened five or six times, Ji Yanyan finally couldn't hold back anymore. She gathered her emotions and opened her mouth to start crying.

Ji Zhi Qiu pointed at him, interrupting the spell, "Didn't you ask to watch all night? You were cheering for a long time just now, why are you crying now?"

Ji Yanyan couldn't cry anymore. She pursed her lips and remained silent, tormented by sleepiness.

Ji Zhi Qiu smiled and gently stroked his hair as before. "A man keeps his word. I clearly told you to go to sleep before, but you refused. There's nothing I can do about it now."

Ji Yanyan vaguely sensed something, but he was stubborn and refused to admit his mistake. He turned around and muttered to himself.

Ji Zhi Qiu was afraid he would renege on his promise, so she put down her phone and sat down to supervise him.

He was a little bored, and his gaze involuntarily fell on the cartoon. Within minutes, he was completely absorbed.

Wow, cartoons are this good?!

Ji Zhi Qiu's eyes widened, and she occasionally smiled knowingly at the lines. Her expression became increasingly subtle as she glanced meaningfully at the little dumpling next to her. Ji Yan Yan was yawning wildly and had no reaction to the content of the cartoon.

"..." Is this really for kids? How would kids understand it? It's just right for him, really interesting, hehe.

He felt like he had discovered a new continent, and the more he watched, the more engrossed he became. After the episode ended, he couldn't wait to click on the next one.

Ji Yanyan was furious.

He finally managed to finish reading it, how come there's more!

He shook Ji Zhi Qiu's arm persistently, "Don't look anymore, I don't want to look anymore."

Ji Zhi Qiu ignored him, her eyes unwilling to leave the cartoon for even a second, and simply said, "Have you forgotten what you said before, or do you want other kids to know that you're not a man?"

Ji Yanyan seemed to have been acupunctured, remaining silent for a few seconds before weakly lowering her hand.

That is indeed what he said.

But he was wrong.

For the first time, Ji Yanyan didn't develop this idea under the guidance of punishment, but rather genuinely agreed with it.

He had already paid the price and realized the problem. This time, he didn't cry or throw a tantrum. He just touched Ji Zhi Qiu's arm and waited for Ji Zhi Qiu to look over before saying, "Dad, I was wrong. It's time to sleep. I shouldn't have kept watching cartoons."

Ji Zhi Qiu was surprised that Ji Yan Yan would say such a thing. After a few seconds of silence, her attitude softened slightly. "You need to understand that although I told you to go to sleep, it's for your own sake, not for me. Don't throw a tantrum over this kind of thing anymore."

Ji Yanyan bit her lower lip and nodded vigorously.

Ji Zhi Qiu didn't want to miss such a good opportunity and wanted to take the chance to give her another lecture, but he was too thirsty to speak, so he went to pour himself a glass of water. When he came back, Ji Yan Yan was already lying on the sofa, fast asleep.

Ji Zhi Qiu sighed silently, and instead of waking him up, she found a blanket and covered him with it.

You little brat, you dare to compete with college students in staying up all night? Now you know who's better.

I'm the granddaddy of staying up all night!

Ji Zhi Qiu put down her water glass and watched the cartoon with great interest, preparing to watch another episode.

...

The alarm clock rang, and Ji Zishen, though a primary school student, never lingered in bed. After washing up, he came out.

Ji Zhi Qiu walked out of the kitchen looking refreshed, placed the breakfast she had prepared on the table, and greeted him with a smile.

Ji Zishen immediately smiled and walked towards the dining table without stopping. As he passed the sofa, he suddenly noticed a small bulge on it.

He stopped instinctively, and only after looking closely did he realize that it was Ji Yanyan, wrapped in a blanket, struggling to keep her eyes open but still swaying from sleep.

"..." This is spoiling her to an extreme. Just wait, she only watched cartoons for one night today, and she'll be climbing on the roof and tearing the tiles off tomorrow!

As if in response to him, Ji Yanyan jumped off the sofa and ran towards her father.

Ji Zishen didn't want to watch such a stupid show anymore, so he disgustedly looked away and lowered his head to eat his breakfast.

Ji Zhi Qiu's tone remained gentle: "Don't you want to eat breakfast? Do you want to watch cartoons instead?"

After Ji Yanyan apologized last night, he softened and let her sleep for a while, but some things should be kept. As soon as it was light, he woke Ji Yanyan up without hesitation and turned on the TV, thus fulfilling his promise to watch TV all night in a different way.

This left a deep impression on Ji Yanyan, who couldn't help but shiver. She hugged her father's leg and said in a soft, coquettish voice, "No, I want to go to bed on time and never watch cartoons again."

"...???" Ji Zishen paused in his hand holding the soup spoon, then suddenly looked up at the father and son with an ambiguous expression.

What exactly happened last night? It's completely different from what he thought!
