Chapter 17 Rivals - Sports Meet
Xie Changyu nodded, a satisfied smile on his handsome face, his mouth still full of food.
After finishing their meal, the two returned to their dormitory.
Time flies, and soon it was time for the school's annual sports meet. The weather was sunny that day, with an unobstructed view of the sky, and the bright sunshine brought a touch of chill.
Xie Changyu stood in the crowd, yawning. Although the weather was nice, the temperature wasn't very high. He was wearing a white hoodie with a short-sleeved shirt underneath, since he was going to run later and needed to take it off easily.
His competition was in the afternoon, but he got up early today to experience the atmosphere of the sports meet, partly to avoid being nervous and to get used to it beforehand.
Cheerleading squads from various colleges cheered them on from the sidelines, making the atmosphere increasingly heated.
Sunlight spilled onto the running track, golden spots of light dancing across the surface. Many faces beamed with anticipation, their figures standing out vividly in the morning light.
Xie Changyu's melancholy demeanor was out of place among these people. He pulled down the hood of his hoodie, covering his eyebrows and eyes, leaving only his pale lips exposed.
He licked his lips; they were a little dry. He thought to himself that he should have drunk more water before coming out.
He looked around, trying to find a vending machine to see if they sold drinks, but after racking his brains for a while, he still couldn't find one.
well.
There were too many people, he couldn't see them at all, and couldn't find where the vending machine was.
As more and more people gathered around, Xie Changyu, who disliked being in the middle of crowds, grew impatient and decided to just take a look and go back to his dorm.
He managed to avoid one group of people by moving his body, and only then did he breathe a sigh of relief. But another group of people squeezed in, and he twisted his face to avoid their contact.
Irritable.
His impatience deepened.
He should have known better than to come and join the fun. He had his match in the afternoon, why did he come so early in the morning? He's just here to see who's there.
Xie Changyu finally reached an open space with only a few scattered people around. He came to the outer edge of the playground and slumped on the grass with his hands hanging down.
I had just caught my breath when I was suddenly patted on the shoulder.
What are you doing here?
Xie Changyu was surprised that someone was looking for him. He took off his hat, his hair was a little messy, and he looked at the person behind him with clear eyes. "It's you."
The person who came was Wen Shu, the strange guy he met at the barbershop last time.
The person who mocked him for being cute.
He silently pursed his lips, somewhat puzzled as to why this person had come to him; he didn't remember them being very close.
With a faint smile on his face and a cool and aloof demeanor, Wen Shu sat down next to Xie Changyu and said with a tilt of his head, "I saw you on the stage just now."
This sentence serves as an explanation, which is why he came to find him.
Xie Changyu nodded to indicate that he understood, but then asked another question, "How could you see me with so many people in the audience? I was even wearing a hat."
Does this person have X-ray vision? His gaze became inquisitive.
Wen Shu's smile deepened, as if he had seen through Xie Changyu's thoughts. He patted Xie Changyu's shoulder and said with a smile, "You were the only one in the crowd wearing a hat. I thought your back looked familiar, so I came to check it out."
"I never expected it to really be you."
Oh, I see.
Xie Changyu was somewhat envious. "Then your eyesight is pretty good." When he was in the crowd just now, he couldn't see people's faces clearly; it was all blurry, and he had no experience at all.
He doesn't like wearing glasses, and contact lenses are uncomfortable, so he's gotten used to seeing the world in this blurry way.
He looked at the young man with the red armband on his left arm and asked in confusion, "You're the student council president, aren't you busy?"
"The work has probably already been assigned, and I'm free right now."
After they finished speaking, the two fell silent.
Xie Changyu felt a little uncomfortable. What was wrong with this person? He didn't seem to know him very well. He just wanted to rest for a bit, but the person just sat down next to him like that, and he felt awkward about asking him to leave.
He glanced at the other person. Wen Shu seemed to be in a daze, staring down at the grass, not knowing what he was doing. This was the first time he had seen this person up close. He rarely looked directly at him when they last met.
No wonder Gu Qingjia and Jiang Yue like him, he's really good-looking.
He carefully observed the other person. From the side, he saw that the other person had snow-white skin, a high nose bridge with a black mole, and light-colored eyes that took on a soft and warm hue in the morning sunlight.
Xie Changyu looked away, and then he thought of Gu Qingjia again.
Since that blunder, he hasn't seen Gu Qingjia in the dorm anymore. He had already blocked her. Why keep such a hateful person around?
Even if he suffers a loss in silence, he can't say a word. If he tells others about it, he'll be in big trouble.
Gu Qingjia was already a popular figure on campus. If others found out about this, his peaceful campus life would be over.
Ahhhhh.
Half a month later, Xie Changyu was still very angry. He unconsciously grabbed the grass and pulled hard, treating it as if it were Gu Qingjia. Finally, he punched it hard.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
The curious question from Wen Shu brought Xie Changyu back to his senses. He shook his head and denied it; how could he possibly tell anyone about such a thing?
and.
This guy definitely knows Gu Qingjia. Maybe he even likes men. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but shift his body and denied it, saying, "It's nothing, I'm just a little tired."
"I have a match this afternoon, so I'm going back to my dorm to rest."
"Conserve your energy and build up your strength!"
Wen Shu stopped him from getting up, her tone cheerful, "No, it's a rare sports meet, you need to familiarize yourself with the venue. What if you wander around aimlessly like you did this afternoon?"
As he spoke, he even winked.
Xie Changyu thought about it carefully and realized that what he said made a lot of sense. He had been looking for the venue for a long time and almost couldn't find the place where he was going to compete in the afternoon. What if he was late in the afternoon?
Seeing his wavering, Wen Shu quickly seized the opportunity and took him towards the playground, saying, "Come on, Changyu, I know this place well, I'll show you around."
"You might not know this, but there are other performers warming up the crowd there."
Xie Changyu was thus passively returned to the playground. Their school was very large, with two playgrounds. The playground where he competed this time was not the one he usually suggested for running. This one was bigger and wider, and he was not very familiar with it. In addition, there were so many people, and he had not yet recognized all the people in his class!
"Wen Shu," Xie Changyu called to him.
"What's wrong?"
Do you know where the vending machine is? I'd like to buy a bottle of water.
Xie Changyu was really thirsty. He licked his lips, which were almost chapped. To be honest, he hadn't eaten breakfast. He came to the playground as soon as he got up, but after an hour of wandering around, all he saw were heads.
His lips were also a little pale, and he wanted to buy some bread to fill his stomach.
Looking at his pale face, Wen Shu asked with concern, "Didn't you have breakfast?"
"Um."
Wen Shu lowered her eyes, took his hand, and said in a gentle but firm tone, "I'll take you to the podium. There's water and breakfast there. Have something to eat first."
Seeing that there was food, Xie Changyu readily agreed. He nodded and followed the path to the podium. There were many spectators on the podium, some of whom were student council members, some of whom were school leaders, and some of whom were students who had not participated in the sports meet but were there to watch for credits.
Xie Changyu sat down and took the breakfast Wen Shu handed him. It was soy milk and steamed buns. He touched them and found they were still warm and untouched.
He looked at Wen Shu, who was sitting next to him watching him eat breakfast, and asked somewhat embarrassedly, "Have you eaten yet?"
Wen Shu smiled and said, "Don't worry, I've already eaten. You don't need to worry about me."
"Oh." Xie Changyu was relieved. He took a bite of the steamed bun and a sip of soy milk. His stomach finally felt full. He squinted his eyes in satisfaction, then took the bottled water handed to him by the other person. He was quite happy. "Thanks a lot this time."
"You're welcome."
“I know Jiang Yue, and he has told me about you.”
Caught off guard by hearing Jiang Yue's name from the other person, Xie Changyu paused in his swallowing motion, struggling to swallow his food, his chest tightening.
