Chapter 24: The Rival's Story - He's Got Water in His Brain

Chapter 24: The Rival's Story - He's Got Water in His Brain

Xie Changyu sighed, one hand hanging limply at his side, his eyes blankly staring at the chat interface, the screen remaining unchanged.

Tsk, what's wrong with this guy?

After looking around for a while without seeing any further messages from the other party, Xie Changyu thought that Gu Qingjia must have sent the message to the wrong person, and it had nothing to do with him.

After thinking about it this way, he simply put it out of his mind, looked away from his phone, started waving his hands, rested his chin lightly on the back of the chair, sat with his legs apart, and stared unfocusedly in Qi Yan's direction.

Qi Yan was applying medicine, but for some reason he didn't go to the bed. The bed was much more spacious and his legs could be spread out for easier operation. Xie Changyu just watched as Qi Yan, a grown man, was huddled on the chair with his pants pulled up, which was practically the same as not wearing any clothes at all.

It looks troublesome.

Thinking this to himself, Xie Changyu asked aloud, "Why don't you go to bed?"

The last syllable was drawn out, making the person sound tired.

He pointed with his finger and tilted his head, "And also, the medicine you applied—".

"What's wrong?" Qi Yan tilted his head in confusion. As he moved, his leg seemed to be pulled slightly, and he let out a soft hiss.

Xie Changyu paused, then spoke sincerely, "It seems you've applied a bit too much medicine?"

He looked at the area covered by the medicine, but couldn't see the wound after a long time. It was all hidden by the medicine. He hadn't noticed it before, but now it looked strange.

But when he saw the other person's expression twist, he thought it was in pain and asked, "Apply less, applying so much won't help."

Xie Changyu thought his tone was very considerate, but when he saw that the other person's expression seemed to be more distorted, he was puzzled and asked, "Are you in a lot of pain?"

Qi Yan coughed lightly, his tone calm, "It's nothing, the medicine just stings a little."

Xie Changyu straightened up, her body slumped, and she stretched out both hands, her eyes brightening. "Do you need my help?"

Qi Yan paused in his slow motion of rolling up his trouser leg. He looked at Xie Changyu, waved his hands, his throat moved, and his voice was a little hoarse as he refused, "No need, I'm already done, I'll be done soon."

"All right."

Upon hearing this, Xie Changyu withdrew his hand, then propped his head up with his hand and said seriously, "Then you shouldn't go to the gym for the next few days, lest your injury get worse."

"good."

The dormitory returned to silence. Xie Changyu sat there for a while, watching Qi Yan apply the medicine before getting up. He checked the time; Wen Shu's competition should be over.

He breathed a sigh of relief; sitting in his dorm like this was better than sunbathing on the playground.

For him, the sports meet is over, and the following activities have nothing to do with him. Don't bother him anymore!

Looking at the time, Xie Changyu realized it wasn't lunchtime yet. After thinking for a moment, he sat back down, this time sitting upright with his legs propped up on the desk. He picked up his phone and started chatting with Sui Sui.

He propped his head up with one hand, turned his face to the side, and looked at his phone with a smile in his eyes.

[SuiSui: My brother is so annoying! He actually said I don't look good in a skirt.]

[SuiSui: It's the one I sent you yesterday.]

[Bored God: Is that so?]

Xie Changyu recalled the photo from last night, and the warmth under his nose when he saw it. He couldn't help but touch his nose.

[Bored God: It's normal for your brother to say that; he's worried about you.]

[SuiSui: He's such an old-fashioned person...]

Xie Changyu had been hearing the other person complain about her brother a lot these days, and assumed they were arguing and she didn't want to get involved, so she simply went along with what the other person was saying.

[Bored God: Since you've said so, it must be true.]

[SuiSui: Ugh, let's not talk about him anymore. Anyway, you're not allowed to like him!]

[Bored Male God: I don't like it, I don't like it. I'm not gay.]

Xie Changyu couldn't help but make a joke in the second half of his sentence. He thought the other party would respond with a loud laugh, but suddenly there was no response.

He patted the other person on the shoulder.

No response.

[Bored God: ? What's wrong?]

Half a minute later, Sui Sui sent a message.

[SuiSui: My brother just looked at my phone, so I yelled at him.]

Xie Changyu thought to himself, "So I was caught talking behind someone's back like that? This is so embarrassing."

[Bored Male God: ...Did your brother say anything?]

Sui Sui, also known as Shen Zi Sui, snorted coldly. He glanced at the expressionless guy sitting opposite him, who was clearly unhappy but sent a sweet message.

[SuiSui: Don't worry, baby, I noticed before he could see clearly, but he didn't say anything.]

[Bored God: That's good.]

Xie Changyu breathed a sigh of relief.

"You're talking badly about me."

Shen Zisui ignored him, continuing to stare at his phone with a smile playing on his lips.

But because he ignored it, the voice next to his ear grew closer, "You told him bad things about me."

Shen Zisui glanced impatiently at the guy who was already sitting next to him, and said provocatively, "Didn't you peek at my phone first?"

"Besides, you don't even know each other, so what if you said it?"

His deep gray-blue eyes flickered slightly as he lowered his head and took a sip of tea. His lips were slightly pursed, and his tone was calm, "I only read it after you spoke ill of me first."

Shen Zisui scoffed, clearly not believing him, and sneered, "How do you know I'm talking about you if you didn't see it?"

"Just a guess." Chen Du put down his teacup, his eyes unchanged, and said in a light tone, "You have a malicious look on your face."

"I have ill intentions?" Shen Zisui bared her teeth, staring at her twin brother with a very intimidating look. "Which eye of yours saw that?"

"Two."

"..."

“You’ve been acting strange lately—” Shen Zisui paused, then looked at him, her tone probing, “Have you encountered any problems at the company?”

But after saying that, he denied it, saying, "That's impossible."

Shen Zisui crossed his legs, his eyes shifting slightly, and said in a strange tone, "You've been a little too concerned about me and him lately, haven't you?"

He was naturally referring to Xie Changyu.

Chen Du took another sip of tea, his eyelids slightly lowered, and said in a nonchalant tone, "Are you out of your mind?"

"Heh." Shen Zisui chuckled, thinking to himself that it made sense. His older brother had always been like a block of wood, never paying attention to people who were not close to him. It must just be a misperception; he had just been too anxious lately.

But he still raised his chin, his tone arrogant, his eyes cold, "Don't peek at my phone again next time, I don't like it."

He tilted his head slightly, his pupils dark, and said, "I don't like it when people talk badly about me either."

Shen Zisui clicked his tongue, gave the other person a warning look, and continued chatting on his phone, his smile gradually turning into a silly grin. Meanwhile, Shen Du remained unmoved, his emotions unchanged.

...

Xie Changyu was chatting when he heard the door open. He looked up and saw Jiang Yue had returned. He was debating whether to greet him or not, because he felt that he had been getting along quite well with the other roommates lately. Even Jiang Yue, who was usually difficult to please, wasn't as annoying as before, except for Gu Qingjia.

Completely the opposite of before.

You should know that he used to talk to Gu Qingjia the most and often hung out with her, although he later stopped going because he was bored.

While they were still debating, Qi Yan took the initiative to start a conversation, asking casually, "So, first place?"

Xie Changyu swallowed his unspoken words, also wondering what place Jiang Yue, who, like him, had gotten, had achieved.

And why is Qi Yan so confident in Jiang Yue? He just said "first place" right off the bat?

"Hmm," Jiang Yue replied indifferently, without any emotion.

He casually put down his clothes, his gaze lowered, his eyelashes sweeping down slightly to reveal a black mole on his left eyelid. He paused for a moment, then spoke softly, "It's alright, relatively simple."

Wow.

Xie Changyu was inexplicably taken aback by the act, and he couldn't help but ask, "What was your first-place prize?"

Jiang Yue turned his head, his jawline sharp, his eyes dark as ink, and said honestly, "I didn't receive it."

Xie Changyu shrugged and said helplessly, "Okay, I was wondering if your prizes were the same."

"You guys?" Jiang Yue asked softly, then suddenly looked at Qi Yan, "You participated too?"

Qi Yan chuckled, "Yeah, I signed up because I was bored, and I just casually got first place."

He shrugged and said nonchalantly, "I forgot to tell you."

Jiang Yue said in a nonchalant tone, "Last time you said you wouldn't go to such a boring event."

Qi Yan shifted his sitting position, a clear smile on his face. "Yeah, I've changed my mind. I suddenly think running is quite fun."

"You two have a very good relationship."

The statement was made with a definite tone and sounded perfectly normal, but it felt strange coming from Jiang Yue. Xie Changyu responded naturally, "Yes, we have a good relationship."

Qi Yan raised an eyebrow, glanced at Jiang Yue whose expression was normal, and asked slowly, "You seem to have a problem with that?"

His eyes were searching, not missing any changes in Jiang Yue's expression.

But Jiang Yue seemed to be just asking a question out of curiosity. He stood there, languid and indifferent, his tone cold, "Just asking."

"Is that so?" Qi Yan seemed thoughtful, then smiled. "I hope so."

Xie Changyu looked at the two people, one smiling and the other cold, and suddenly felt that he couldn't read the atmosphere. Why did these two seem to be having such a strange conversation? Was it because his emotional intelligence was too low?

It's a fact that he and Qi Yan have a good relationship now, and it's also a fact that his relationship with Jiang Yue is just so-so. Why is this guy suddenly concerned about this?

They definitely don't have good intentions!

"Cough cough."

Xie Changyu coughed a few times to interrupt their conversation, "Qi Yan, let's go eat, I'm hungry."

It's almost lunchtime.

Qi Yan was still smiling. He said, "Okay, I just ordered some food and it's being delivered."

"Huh?" Xie Changyu was surprised by his speed and asked in astonishment, "Weren't you just applying medicine?" He had been staring at him for a while but hadn't seen him playing on his phone. Was he seeing things?

"It was booked in advance." Qi Yan didn't say much, just gave a brief explanation, "Let's eat in the cafeteria this time."

Xie Changyu readily agreed, nodding obediently, "That works too."

The two walked past Jiang Yue and left the house. Jiang Yue, who remained in the same spot, didn't move. He first looked at the closed door, then at his own hands, his eyelashes trembling slightly, lost in thought.
