Chapter 35 The Rival's Tale: You lied to me, the person I met was a man.
Xie Changyu's mind was in complete turmoil. He was wondering why Gu Qingjia had suddenly come here. Could it be that the staff here had leaked the guests' information?
He gripped the door with both hands, straining his ears to hear anything outside. After holding his breath for five seconds, he heard nothing. He glanced at the door, thinking that the hotel must have good soundproofing, so it was normal that he couldn't hear anything.
So he simply let go, stood up straight, and muttered, "Never mind."
Since no one can get in anyway, what is he afraid of?
Xie Changyu shook off the extraneous thoughts in his mind and focused his attention on himself. After making sure all the doors were closed, he sat back down on the sofa, continued to hug the large cushion, and obediently rested his chin on it, his whole face sinking into the softness.
He squinted, looking relaxed and comfortable, wondering why Sui Sui hadn't come out of the bathroom yet; it had been almost twenty minutes.
Could something have happened?
Xie Changyu was startled by his own thought, and sat up with a jolt, calling out several times, "Sui Sui!"
Chen Du, who was carefully applying makeup in the bathroom, paused upon hearing the anxious voice. He put down what he was doing and asked, "What's wrong?"
The sound was muffled, probably because it was in the toilet.
Hearing that nothing had happened, Xie Changyu was relieved. As long as nothing serious had occurred, he sat back down and said with a sigh of relief, "It's nothing."
Perhaps guessing his thoughts, the person inside added, "They'll be out soon."
"good."
Xie Changyu sat down again, clutching his chest and frowning. He was so easily startled that he was almost scared to death.
Just as he was thinking this, his phone started ringing incessantly. He couldn't help but click his tongue. He picked up the phone and saw that it was indeed that guy outside calling. He knew it; how could Gu Qingjia have left so easily?
Judging from his recent antics, Xie Changyu strongly suspected that this person was trying to ruin his date. However, whether he ruined it or not was no longer important, since he and Sui Sui would have nothing to do with each other after today anyway.
should.
He twitched his hand slightly, his pale fingers about to press the hang-up button, but then he hesitated. What if the person outside kept waiting if he hung up now? He certainly wouldn't have thought of that before, but now, judging from this guy's little actions every night, it wasn't impossible.
So he answered, his brow furrowed, his tone unpleasant: "What?"
Gu Qingjia chuckled softly on the phone, "Are you just going to leave me out here all alone? In the dead of winter."
Xie Changyu propped her face up with one hand and pressed the other hand against her ear. "It's not like there's no heating. Why are you acting pitiful? Besides, you're the one who let me stay in this room. This hotel belongs to your family. It's not like you don't have a room to stay in."
Gu Qingjia exclaimed, "Oh, that seems so too."
He acted as if he had just remembered, and his tone was incredibly irritating.
Xie Changyu pursed his lips, somewhat speechless, and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
"Your girlfriend is inside, right?"
Gu Qingjia's words successfully made Xie Changyu pause in his act of hanging up the phone. He thought for a moment and replied, "So what? What does it have to do with you?"
"really."
Surprisingly, upon hearing his admission, Gu Qingjia was not angry. Instead, she said with a smile, "I knew that someone who doesn't like to go out would dress up and come out in the dead of winter because it was for a date."
Xie Changyu's smile widened further; he hated the feeling of being guessed at. "And then what? What good would it do you to know?"
"Not very good."
He grunted and prepared to hang up, "Then I—"
Before he could finish speaking, another voice came from the phone, "Open the door and let me in."
Xie Changyu was amused by the other party's matter-of-fact tone, "You think I'll just open the door because you tell me to?"
"Then I beg you." Gu Qingjia, who was outside the door, changed her words very naturally when she heard him say that.
He choked up instantly, not expecting the man to be so decisive. However, it was also the first time he had heard this guy beg him, and he had to admit, it felt pretty good. He couldn't help but smile. "I didn't hear you clearly."
Gu Qingjia raised an eyebrow and repeated, "I beg you to let me in."
Xie Changyu was pleased to hear this, and suppressed a smile by pursing her lips, "Okay."
He agreed, but not to let the person in. Otherwise, what if Sui Sui got scared? The atmosphere between the two of them was already a bit tense, and if Gu Qingjia said something, it would be even worse. So he thought he could use this opportunity to go out. He just needed to say that a friend was outside and wanted to chat with him for a bit, and Sui Sui would definitely agree.
He was thinking this, but since the person in the bathroom hadn't come out yet, he at least had to talk to them face to face. Otherwise, it wouldn't be good if they came out and found him gone. Meanwhile, Gu Qingjia on the phone seemed to be getting impatient and kept urging him to open the door.
Xie Changyu replied with a "What's the rush?" and hung up the phone, then got up to open the door.
It was a familiar scene. Xie Changyu opened the door and said directly, "Don't come in. I'm going out in a bit."
The first thing she saw was a face with a forced smile. Gu Qingjia wasn't smiling like she had on the phone; instead, her eyes were dark and brooding: "You're leaving now that I'm going in? Do you hate me that much..."
This person clearly misunderstood. Xie Changyu was speechless. So he didn't hear the first part but he did hear the second. He leaned against the door frame, his shoulder swaying, and said, "I'll go out with you later."
"Huh?" Gu Qingjia finally realized what she meant, raising an eyebrow in surprise, her tone hesitant: "You mean you're going to abandon the people inside and come with me?"
"What do you mean by abandoning..." Xie Changyu disliked the person's inappropriate wording, "It's not appropriate for me to stay with a girl like her."
"You finally admit there's someone inside..."
"None of your business." Xie Changyu rolled his eyes. He no longer felt any fear or politeness towards this person. He realized that this guy was a jerk who got more excited the more he got, so it was best not to say anything.
So after he said that, he shut up, his lips pressed tightly together, his eyes fixed on the floor, not even looking at the person in front of him.
"Is that your girlfriend inside?"
He ignored it.
"We just met today? No wonder you're dressed so—it's a real eye-catcher. You usually don't seem to care about what you wear..."
He pretended not to hear.
Gu Qingjia's face stiffened when he saw that the person wasn't listening to him at all. He took a step forward, so close that he could see the person's eyelashes trembling as he got closer. "When do we leave?"
"Walk?"
A emotionless voice came from inside. Chen Du had just come out of the restroom when he saw Xie Changyu standing at the door, seemingly chatting with someone. Before he could get closer and see who it was, he heard this sentence, and his eyes instantly turned cold.
"Where are you going?" he asked as he approached.
Before Xie Changyu could even turn around, he saw Gu Qingjia's face suddenly crack open, her eyes turning terrifying. His hand was suddenly gripped tightly. "You lied to me."
His voice was strained, and he was extremely agitated.
Xie Changyu was momentarily stunned by the man's sudden change in expression. He gritted his teeth and asked with a puzzled look, "What did you say?"
What did he lie to this guy about? It's so strange.
Suddenly, a hand reached out from the side and grabbed his wrist, the voice cold: "Let go."
Gu Qingjia curled one corner of her mouth, her eyes darkening: "You actually lied to me and said she was your girlfriend. Does this person even look like a woman?"
Xie Changyu was even more puzzled. Although Sui Sui was indeed quite tall, she shouldn't be mistaken for a man. He was speechless: "What do you mean she doesn't look like a woman? She's just—"
He turned to look at Chen Du, his calm eyes suddenly narrowing, his pupils dilating in shock: "Sui Sui—"
He stumbled to the side, completely stunned, his face filled with disbelief. "Who are you?!"
Xie Changyu's face turned deathly pale, and he froze in place, staring blankly at the familiar yet unfamiliar face before him.
How did a girl suddenly turn into a boy?!
Upon hearing this question, Chen Du slowly withdrew his hand. He glanced at the strange man opposite him who exuded a terrifying aura, then looked seriously at the person beside him and asked, "I just went to the restroom, don't you recognize me?"
Xie Changyu's suspicions were confirmed, and he looked incredulous, his brows furrowing. "You're Sui Sui? No, Sui Sui is a girl, you're a boy."
He began to recall all the strange things that had happened before, and suddenly his eyes widened, looking as if he had been deceived: "You actually lied to me!"
He had been wondering why Sui Sui was so tall. She always had a sweet voice on her phone, but when they met in person, she always spoke in a low voice. If it weren't for her obviously identical face and clothes, he wouldn't have recognized her at all.
Shen Du neither confirmed nor denied this statement. After all, he was now playing the role of his younger brother, Shen Zisui. He himself hadn't lied, but Shen Zisui had.
Xie Changyu saw that the person in front of her did not deny it, and angrily shook off his other hand: "You are a man, how could you deceive my feelings? Are you a pervert!"
Gu Qingjia, who was standing to the side, calmed down. His eyes were cold as he mocked, "So this guy is a pervert dressed as a woman. He's so arrogant, and you actually fell for it."
The last sentence was addressed to Xie Changyu, who glared at him and angrily said, "Shut up."
He was furious, aggrieved, and ashamed. Being deceived was bad enough, but to be seen doing so in front of Gu Qingjia was even worse, making it all the more shameful.
Hearing him say that, Gu Qingjia obediently shut up.
But Xie Changyu still felt his chest brimming with anger. He turned his head, looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar face before him, his chest heaving violently. His eyes were filled with rage: "Why did you lie to me?"
Chen Du remained remarkably calm. His face, now pale and with dark eyes, showed no signs of distress. He spoke with composure: "I don't want to lie to you."
What kind of answer is that?
Xie Changyu closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down, but damn it, he just couldn't. He smirked and said, "You still don't want to lie to me? You've been lying to me for so long, isn't that lying? Aren't you happy to have been pretending to be a girl and fooling me like this?"
Tears welled in his eyes, not from sadness, but from anger and resentment. His boyfriend had been having such a long, flirtatious chat with another man on his phone—it was disgusting…
Gu Qingjia had been intently watching the face the whole time. Seeing that the man was about to cry, his expression turned cold. He looked at the man with hostility and said with a forced smile, "You pervert, doesn't your conscience hurt when you deceive innocent young men?"
Chen Du ignored the man, his eyes fixed on that jade-like face. Only when he saw tears welling up did he reach out, trying to stop them from falling. His eyes still held a hint of confusion: "Are you very sad?"
"Sad my ass," Xie Changyu replied. He rubbed his eyes to make sure there were no tears that would upset him. He had to change the habit of crying when he got too emotional.
Then he forcefully shook off the hands that tried to approach, rejecting their approach like a cub, "Get away from me, I don't want to see you."
Gu Qingjia was dissatisfied, "If this guy lied to you, why should I get out too?"
Suddenly, he felt himself being pushed hard, and then the door slammed shut with a loud noise. Gu Qingjia almost stumbled and fell. By the time he regained his balance and realized what was happening, the door was already locked. He knocked a few times but there was no response from inside. He quickly took out his room card from his pocket, but there was no response; it was locked from the inside.
Gu Qingjia frowned and knocked on the door again, shouting, "Xie Changyu, open the door for me!"
After shouting, he realized that the soundproofing here was very good and that no one inside could hear him, so he shut up again.
Xie Changyu, who was in the room, was also stunned. His face, which had been full of anger just a moment ago, was now blank. What happened? He was still angry when he saw Chen Du suddenly push Gu Qingjia, who was standing at the door, out. Then the door was closed, and he was pulled in as well.
Everything happened so fast that he was caught off guard and completely bewildered.
“That guy is very noisy,” Shen Du said casually, as if explaining his behavior just now. He was no longer wearing the coat he had just worn, revealing the inner shirt he was wearing underneath, and his eyes were fixed on Xie Changyu’s face.
Xie Changyu hadn't even reacted to those words. He hadn't expected this person to be so strong that even Gu Qingjia had been pushed away in a moment of carelessness. He was afraid that this guy might do something bad to him, and since he couldn't beat him, his arrogance was no longer as strong as before.
He slowly backed away, his voice unsteady: "Then why did you drag me in here?"
Chen Du glanced at him and said, "I'm explaining this to you, but I don't want outsiders to hear it."
Hearing this answer, Xie Changyu was relieved. He was just glad they weren't going to beat him up; he couldn't possibly defeat this guy with superhuman strength.
He swallowed hard, inwardly cursing himself for being such a coward. He had just been so righteously scolding the other person, but now he was so docile. He pouted, feeling a little wronged. He was so miserable; he had been deceived and couldn't even get angry.
He mustered his courage and said, "Then explain yourself quickly, why did you lie to me!"
Chen Du was very direct: "I'm not lying to you."
Xie Changyu's mind went blank again, feeling dizzy. "You just said you lied to me, and now you're saying you didn't."
"And you just pretended to be a girl to fool me, didn't you? You're lying."
Chen Du looked at the person who was about to lean against the wall, his eyes darkened, and he suddenly reached out and pulled the person over. Xie Changyu was already a little weak, and when he was suddenly pulled, he leaned against the wall without the strength to resist.
Then he slammed himself towards Chen Du, but Chen Du's strong core strength caused the two to stick together tightly.
Shen Du hadn't expected things to turn out this way. He had only wanted to pull the person out because he couldn't stand the way the person in front of him was hiding behind the wall, but Xie Changyu simply didn't have the strength to maintain his position.
Then, Xie Changyu ended up with his chin resting on Shen Du's shoulder, his arms wrapped around the other, while Shen Du was stiff, his arms hanging down, his usually calm eyes widening, and his gray-blue pupils suddenly contracting sharply.
