"Little Flame, come here."
At the window
The woman in white had long, flowing black hair cascading down her back. Her red lips were slightly upturned, and her eyes sparkled with a carefree spirit. The star mark between her brows added a touch of aloofness to her ethereal beauty.
Even so, there was no contradiction in Yu Yan's temperament; it was as if it was meant to be this way.
Hearing her call, the rabbit raised its front paws and looked at her.
Red Hare's whiskers trembled slightly, and in the blink of an eye, it transformed into a golden phoenix and flew into the window.
The little phoenix perched on Yu Yan's shoulder and pecked at her hair.
"Can't you transform into human form yet?"
Yu Yan reached out and touched the phoenix's little head, murmuring softly as if talking to herself.
"Chirp—"
"Little Flame, you are a phoenix, you can't learn from the birds outside."
Yu Yan chuckled and hugged the phoenix to her lap.
She tapped his head with her finger, one tap at a time.
"Chirp chirp—"
Little Phoenix didn't know if she understood what she was saying.
Yu Yan thought he probably didn't understand.
Just then, the communication stone lit up.
"Junior sister, how long are you going to wait? The disciple-acceptance ceremony is about to begin."
Shen Qingyi's voice slowly drifted out.
Even through the communication stone, Yu Yan could hear the helplessness in her voice.
"Coming right away," Yu Yan replied with a message.
The woman stood up, her slender figure swaying gracefully, a three-finger-wide belt outlining her incredibly thin waist.
With just a spell, the strands of hair were instantly gathered up.
A simple flying cloud bun, yet it was so stunning that it made the world pale in comparison.
Before leaving, Yu Yan glanced at the room where her two disciples were in seclusion.
She really didn't expect the two little ones to be in seclusion for so long.
Four years have passed. If she hadn't been certain they were safe, anyone would have suspected something had happened.
Cangmiao Sect Main Peak
Mu Nanyu stood next to Shen Qingyi.
The two figures, one in green and one in white, made it difficult to tell that they were actually master and disciple.
"Master, is Aunt Yan not coming today?"
Mu Nanyu watched as the newly recruited disciples continuously ascended the Heavenly Ladder in the water mirror.
He asked, his eyes flashing slightly.
Shen Qingyi glanced at him indifferently.
Ever since his junior sister saved Nanyu, he has been very close to her.
"Just wait." Shen Qingyi's gaze fell on the water mirror.
A hint of admiration flashed across the man's handsome face as he watched a little girl break free from her surroundings.
"Not bad," Shen Qingyi commented.
Mu Nanyu's brow twitched, and he followed Shen Qingyi's gaze to the water mirror.
Su Ruoruo's familiar yet unfamiliar face came into view.
Before he could say anything, Yu Yan's voice came through.
"What's so good? Senior brother has taken a liking to a promising talent?"
Yu Yan also looked at the water mirror, and when she caught sight of Su Ruoruo, the woman's face remained expressionless.
The arrival of the woman in white stirred up a bit of excitement in the hall.
Although she and the sect leader are fellow disciples, and she is in charge of a peak.
But she is usually elusive and rarely appears in public.
Upon seeing Yu Yan arrive, Shen Qingyi raised his eyebrows slightly.
He neither confirmed nor denied it.
"Further investigation is needed."
He was answering Yu Yan's question.
Upon hearing this, Mu Nanyu exclaimed anxiously, "Master!"
"Junior sister said that senior brother is not such an impulsive person."
Yu Yan interrupted him at the right moment.
Mu Nanyu touched the tip of his nose; he had acted impulsively.
What reason could he possibly have to stop his master from accepting disciples?
I wonder if my uncle did this intentionally or unintentionally...
Mu Nanyu lowered her eyes.
Yu Yan had no intention of speaking; she hadn't expected Mu Nanyu to suddenly interrupt.
