Chapter 21 Fighting

Upon hearing this, He Zifeng immediately went to the He family's old house. Sure enough, as soon as he entered, he saw more than a dozen men from Fangjia Village, including his uncle.

They saw He Zifeng quickly make way for them.

He Zifeng's uncle said, "I had no idea you had suffered so much injustice here. Why didn't you come to your uncle?" Then he angrily said, "As expected, a stepmother is like a stepfather. If He Zifeng hadn't been smart, would you have tried to kill him? Do you really think our family has no one left?"

Since his son moved away, many villagers have been laughing at him behind his back, saying that without He Zifeng and his wife, who are good laborers, the house is in a mess.

He Zifeng and his group prepared pig's trotters for everyone to eat, but deliberately omitted the family, showing they'd really grown up. Just as he was feeling resentful and had nowhere to vent, his uncle arrived, and his scumbag father, He Donglai, instantly flew into a rage. Ignoring the dozen or so burly men, he yelled at his uncle, "This is our family matter! What right do you, an outsider, have to come here and shout?"

The uncle said angrily, "I'm here, and you still dare to be so loud. If I leave, who knows how you'll bully He Zifeng."

The village's strength was considerable. If outsiders came looking for trouble, the villagers would unite to fight them. He Zifeng noticed that many people were carrying shovels and pickaxes. If so many farmers were to engage in a brawl, it would surely lead to a blood feud.

He Zifeng quickly said, "Everyone, this is our family matter."

After He Zifeng said this, everyone gradually put down what they were holding and began to whisper among themselves.

The scumbag father, He Donglai, said, "You even conspired with people from other villages to try and take care of your own father? You little beast, why weren't you killed?"

He Zifeng said, "Shut up." Ever since He Zifeng stopped obeying He Donglai as before, his aura has become quite formidable.

Ignoring all that, Madam Wan said, "No matter how wrong he is, he's still your father. How can you talk like that?"

The uncle snorted and said, "Who do you think you are? Your own son is living a life of luxury at home, while my nephew is suffering like this."

He Zifeng had just returned from a construction site in another village and hadn't had time to wash off the filth all over his body, looking disheveled.

Looking at He Donglai again, he was a well-dressed man with land and business, yet he had driven his own son to this state.

Upon hearing such accusations, Xiao Wanshi became furious. Forgetting all decorum, she acted like a shrew, saying, "Nonsense! He was only a few years old when I came here. Did he grow up on air and dew? If I had known he would bear such a false reputation, I would have drowned him when he was little, saving me from this trouble today." She then added, "This is colluding with outsiders to hurt me."

Then she rushed over like a madwoman, saying, "Kill me if you want, I don't want to live either." She rushed over and tried to scratch her uncle's face. If He Zifeng hadn't stopped her, Xiao Wanshi would have almost hurt him. She did nothing but maintain her nails all day, and they were much longer than those of women who did farm work.

Xiao Wan was furious when her attack failed.

The uncle angrily said, "You old hag, who are you looking at? This is none of your business. If you come any closer, don't blame me for getting rough."

When Wan Hai arrived from outside and heard this, he said, "If you dare to hurt my mother, I guarantee you won't be able to leave this village."

Xiao Wan was a little smug. Although she thought He Donglai was a good-for-nothing, he still had a promising eldest son. With Wan Hai around, they couldn't expect to get any advantage.

He Zifeng said, "Oh, what? It was clearly your mother who pounced on you with her claws outstretched, and you still have the nerve to argue?"

Wan Hai looked at He Zifeng with a pained expression and said, "She is our mother. She is old. You shouldn't take it to heart."

The uncle, who was standing nearby, objected. He said, "My nephew has a mother; you don't need to force yourselves on him." Then he added, "Back then, it was that bastard He Donglai who insisted on divorcing my sister, causing such a huge uproar. It turns out you already had a lover and even abused my sister's only son. How can we swallow this insult?"

The most demanding women in the world. Although it was a divorce, not a formal separation, many people still spread rumors and gossip. This caused the Fang family to be talked about wherever they went, and the girls in the family were constantly being asked to marry and were picked apart. If it were truly because his sister was morally corrupt, they wouldn't say anything.

But the truth is that He Donglai, that bastard, was greedy and always wanted more. In order to win the heart of the beauty, he tried to pin the blame on them. Now that the truth has come out, all the grudges accumulated over the years have finally been settled on this day.

The He family members not only don't know how to reflect on their actions, but they are all incredibly loud and boisterous. Since that's the case, then let's follow their rules.

Just then, Village Chief Xu and Village Chief Liu arrived at almost the same time. Although Village Chief Xu's position as village chief had been taken away by the town mayor, he still had some prestige accumulated in the village after serving for so long. He frowned and said, "You Fangjia Village are making a scene here, are you bullying us because we, Chishui Village, have no one left? Attention all villagers, grab your weapons and fight them!"

"Who dares?" He Zifeng raised his voice. He Zifeng was already tall and imposing, and now, with his deep, stern rebuke, he exuded the same intimidating aura as the village chief.

The village chief of Liuzi Village said, "Old Xu, if you instigate this fight and someone gets hurt, are you going to take responsibility? This is clearly their personal feud. Nobody is allowed to get involved!" Then he said to the other family, "You are also the pillars of your families, and the autumn harvest is coming soon. It's better not to fight."

The uncle said, "This village chief did speak a fair word. No wonder he was able to become the village chief if he is so reasonable."

Village Chief Xu immediately lost face after being insulted by his sarcastic remarks.

The uncle said, “You’ve been disrespectful outside, so why are you blaming the woman after the divorce? Let me tell you, your family has plenty of people. Besides me, there are many more coming. Today, the village chief and the younger generation are here, so I’ll give you face. I’m going to deal with this He Donglai. Anyone who wants to help him is on his side, and I’ll take care of them all.”

They say a nephew resembles his uncle, but He Donglai was no match for his uncle. Seeing that no one was helping him, his legs went weak. He stammered, "You...you..." and then said, "Wan Hai."

Everyone in the village knew that He Donglai treated Wan Hai better than his own son. Although Wan Hai was extremely unwilling, he couldn't hide in the background at a time like this.

Although his uncle was physically strong, he couldn't handle two opponents at once. He Zifeng stretched his neck. Since his uncle was there to stand up for him, he had to step in.

The people of Fangjia Village and Chishui Village were watching.

He Zifeng threw a hook punch, followed by a sweeping leg kick. Wan Hai was knocked to the ground. A solid thud was heard, and just hearing the sound was painful. Little Wan Shi rushed towards her son like a madwoman, but the people of Fangjia Village wouldn't let her interfere. Three people held her back, preventing her from going forward. Not far away, her uncle was beating He Donglai until he was crying for his parents.

He Zifeng gave Wan Hai a good beating, and it felt incredibly satisfying. Don't let Wan Hai's seemingly respectable facade fool you. He's always been condoning He Donglai and Xiao Wanshi's bullying of the family of three. He takes everything that should rightfully belong to He Zifeng for granted. A beating isn't too much to ask.

Little Wan kept screaming next to me, it was so loud it hurt my ears.
