Chapter 59 (End of Chapter 59)

Chapter 59 (End of Chapter 59)

Ten days later, all the cotton in the field was finally harvested and sold. Half a year's sweat and hard work finally turned into a meager 20,000 to 30,000 yuan in everyone's hands.

That's really not much.

On the day the cotton was sold, the production team gathered everyone together and arranged a lavish farewell dinner. Everyone changed into formal wear carefully prepared by the production team, as if to temporarily seal away the six months of farming in the fields.

Zhou Yan leaned closer to Su Tangtang and whispered, "I feel like I've gotten so much darker."

Su Tangtang looked at her hands and nodded, "Me too. When I first came here, I didn't have any calluses on my hands, but now they've all developed."

She held out her hand for Zhou Yan to see; her fingertips and palms indeed bore the marks of her labor.

Zhou Yan also extended her hand, "Me too."

Lin Lang joined in, comparing his own hands, "Me too, my hands are so smooth and soft, and I think I'm even darker than the two of you."

After saying that, she pretended to be sad and made two "waah" sounds, which made everyone laugh.

As the banquet began, the latest episode of the variety show also started airing on time. Everyone ate while watching the highlights of the past six months on the screen.

As the program ended, an atmosphere of farewell gradually filled the room. Everyone shared their feelings about the past six months, and the hardships and joys they had experienced together all turned into this reluctant goodbye.

Finally, everyone raised their glasses together, bringing this special day to a close.

Back in the house that evening, Huo Yizhou gently embraced Su Tangtang.

Su Tangtang buried her face in his warm chest, her voice muffled, "Time flies so fast, we're going back tomorrow."

Huo Yizhou stroked her hair and said softly, "Yes, we won't be able to live together every day anymore."

Su Tangtang exclaimed "Ah," then pouted, "Oh, right."

After a moment of silence, Huo Yizhou said softly, "When we get back, take me to meet your parents."

Su Tangtang let out another "Ah," her tone tinged with hesitation, "Isn't it...too early?"

A sense of panic welled up inside her; she wasn't familiar with her parents yet.

To be precise, they were the original owner's parents.

She doesn't know how to get along with her "parents" like the original owner did. But there's still so much time ahead, can she guarantee she won't give herself away?

Or, she can just stay the way she is now, and if her family asks, she can say that she learned a lot on the show and made some changes.

I just don't know if my family believes it.

Oh well, whatever. Whether you believe it or not, you have to accept it. After all, the original owner no longer exists in this world; only she remains.

Seeing that she remained silent, Huo Yizhou felt a pang of disappointment. He said softly, "If you think it's too early, we can wait a little longer."

Su Tangtang raised her head, met his gaze, and nodded gently, "Okay, let's wait a little longer."

At least, she'll have to wait until she's truly familiar with the original owner's family.

This answer dimmed the light in Huo Yizhou's eyes. In the end, he said nothing and simply nodded slightly.

Su Tangtang keenly sensed his emotions. She leaned forward and placed a light kiss on his lips. "Don't worry, it won't be long."

That sounded really pleasant, and a smile returned to Huo Yizhou's eyes. "Okay."

Su Tangtang smiled gently.

The next second, Huo Yizhou's kiss landed on his lips.

Su Tangtang was slightly taken aback, then reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck, responding to the lingering kiss.

The kiss lasted a very long time, until the two of them slowly separated, their breathing becoming erratic.

Their foreheads touched, and Huo Yizhou, calming his somewhat rapid breathing, said softly, "There's something I want to tell you."

Su Tangtang responded softly, "Go ahead."

Huo Yizhou did not answer directly, but chuckled softly, "You've got quite the nerve."

Su Tangtang hummed in confusion, then slightly distanced herself from him, her eyes filled with doubt. "What do you mean?"

Huo Yizhou stared at her and said, "You don't even know the specifics of my family situation, yet you dare to date me."

Su Tangtang was speechless for a moment.

She actually knew, but even if she didn't, if she truly liked someone, she would definitely take the initiative to find out.

She tilted her head and smiled, "I guess I was born fearless."

Huo Yizhou chuckled, gently pinching her fingers with his fingertips, "You didn't even ask a single question."

A sly glint flashed in Su Tangtang's eyes. "So, is it time to formally explain your family situation to me?"

Huo Yizhou nodded solemnly, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before."

Su Tangtang shook her head dismissively, "It's okay."

Huo Yizhou asked calmly, "Have you heard of the Huo family?"

Su Tangtang was slightly taken aback, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, "My family has mentioned it, do you have a relationship with them?"

Huo Yizhou nodded calmly, "Yes, I am the president of Huo's Group."

Su Tangtang nodded subconsciously at first, then seemed to suddenly realize something, abruptly stood up and took two steps back, covering her mouth, her voice filled with disbelief, "Really?"

Seeing her slightly exaggerated expression of surprise, Huo Yizhou narrowed his eyes and a faint smile appeared on his lips. "Really."

"Then I've got a super awesome boyfriend!" Su Tangtang's eyes lit up, her tone excited.

Huo Yizhou nodded. "You could say that."

"Now that I think about Gu Qingke and the others calling you a gigolo, I think they were incredibly stupid," she couldn't help but laugh. "If they knew your true identity, wouldn't they be shocked?"

Huo Yizhou smiled slightly but didn't reply.

Su Tangtang was still immersed in excitement, her voice light and cheerful, "I'm so lucky to have found such a rich boyfriend, my life is going to be so comfortable from now on."

Huo Yizhou reached out and gently ruffled her hair, his gaze softening. "I'm also very lucky to have met you."

Su Tangtang looked up at him and gave him a silly smile.

Huo Yizhou also watched her quietly.

The two didn't speak again, but just smiled at each other, a silent warmth filling the air, until Su Tangtang couldn't help but yawn, and then they went to sleep.

-

The following morning, everyone packed their bags and said goodbye to the small house where they had lived for more than half a year.

The village chief came to see them off, and many villagers gathered at the village entrance, especially Aunt Zhang, who held their hands for a long time, reluctant to let go, her eyes full of reluctance.

But everyone understood that they ultimately did not belong to this small village, and parting was an inevitable outcome.

After bidding farewell to the villagers, the group boarded the same bus they had come in on. The wheels slowly started moving, and they drove away from the place where they had lived for half a year, following the same road they had come from.

"It feels like a dream," Zhou Yan murmured, gazing at the receding village outside the window.

Lin Lang nodded in agreement, "Yes, when we're living here, time seems to drag on, but now that it's time to leave, we're actually reluctant to go."

Inside the carriage, everyone reminisced about the past six months, one after another. After some time, the chatter gradually subsided, and the exhausted passengers fell asleep amidst the swaying.

When I opened my eyes again, the bus was already parked in front of the hotel where I had departed six months ago.

Su Tangtang rubbed her eyes as she got out of the car, still somewhat dazed as she looked at the bustling cityscape before her. "We're here already?"

Huo Yizhou followed closely behind and got out of the car, naturally reaching out to put his arm around her waist.

"I slept the whole way, and my drool was dripping," he said casually, but his eyes were full of laughter.

Su Tangtang subconsciously touched the corner of her mouth, looked up at him, and asked, "Really?"

"real."

She chuckled sheepishly.

"What's making you so happy?"

The sudden male voice startled Su Tangtang, and her smile vanished instantly. She looked in the direction of the voice and saw a tall man standing opposite her.

The man was handsome, and his features bore a resemblance to hers. Seeing that she didn't speak, he raised an eyebrow. "What? Don't you recognize me?"

Su Tangtang then came to her senses and smiled, "How could that be, brother?"

Su Tanghao snorted, "You little ingrate, all you care about is your boyfriend, huh?"

Su Tangtang was speechless for a moment.

Huo Yizhou stepped forward at the opportune moment and greeted him politely. "Brother."

Su Tanghao's lips twitched slightly as he gave a weak reply, but his gaze subtly scrutinized the man before him. His appearance was even more outstanding than Gu Qingke's, and his demeanor was calm and composed. He was indeed a good match for his sister.

Su Tangtang smiled and took her brother's arm. "How could that be? You'll always be my dearest brother."

He then turned to the side and introduced, "Brother, let me formally introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Huo Yizhou."

Su Tanghao subtly observed Huo Yizhou. The surname Huo stirred something within him, reminding him of the renowned Huo family. But then he thought, there are countless people in the world with the surname Huo; perhaps it was just a coincidence. He politely nodded to Huo Yizhou as a greeting.

As the three were talking, Gu Qingke walked towards them.

He walked straight up to Su Tanghao and greeted him warmly, "Brother."

Su Tanghao frowned, his voice turning colder, "I'm not your brother, don't try to claim kinship with me."

Gu Qingke's face stiffened, and she changed her words to, "President Su."

Su Tanghao simply looked away and ignored him.

Gu Qingke was not discouraged and continued, "President Su, I was wrong before. I didn't understand Tangtang's feelings. Now I understand and I hope to pursue her again."

Su Tanghao was almost laughing in exasperation. "Didn't you see that my sister already has a boyfriend?"

“I believe Tangtang still has feelings for me,” Gu Qingke said firmly.

"I advise you to give up this idea as soon as possible," Su Tanghao said coldly. "Back then, you hurt her like that. If Tangtang hadn't stopped you, I would have settled the score with you long ago. Now you come here to say these things. Do you think I'll believe you? Where do you get the confidence that I'll agree?"

Gu Qingke's expression grew increasingly grim. "I was wrong in the past, but I'm already making amends."

"The best way for you to make amends is to stay away from her and stop bothering her," Su Tanghao said, his gaze sharp as a knife. "I only let you have your way because she liked you before, but now that she's moved on, if you dare to bother her again..."

He paused, his tone carrying an undeniable warning, "I can't guarantee you'll be as unscathed as you are now."
