Seeing that Yunqi was examining each herb so carefully, and indeed seemed knowledgeable, the old man asked, "Well? Have you seen all these herbs before? Do you know their effects?"
"I've seen it, and I know about it."
"Then let me test you..."
"please……"
After a series of questions and answers, the old man's eyes shone even brighter. This young girl was definitely a master of traditional Chinese medicine. Some of the herbs even had effects that the old man himself didn't know about. Later, the old man took out a notebook and wrote down all the effects that Yun Qi mentioned that he didn't know about, so he could verify them later when he had time.
The old man then grabbed the little girl's hand, preventing her from leaving: "What's your name, little girl? Where do you live? When can you start work? What are your salary expectations?"
"My name is Anqi, and I'm a third-year student at S University. This is my student ID." Yunqi handed her student ID to the old man. "I have to attend classes during the week, so I can only work part-time in my spare time. The salary is enough to support myself."
"How about this? It's close to S University. You can come to 'Bai Cao Tang' for a part-time job whenever you have free time, and you can go to class when you have classes. The salary is guaranteed at 5,000 a month, and we can increase it later depending on the situation. What do you think?"
"OK."
"If there are no problems, you can start work tomorrow. Bring your class schedule with you. Go to class during class time, and come work part-time when you have free time. My surname is Huo, you can call me Grandpa Huo."
"Okay, Grandpa Huo, see you tomorrow."
Watching Yunqi walk away, Old Master Huo called over Huo Da and murmured, "Those traditional Chinese medicine families don't have a young girl who knows so much about traditional Chinese medicine. Huo Da, go and check her background."
"Yes, sir."
"Qiqi, Grandpa Huo sent someone to investigate your identity," Xiaoqi reminded Yunqi in her mind. "He's probably curious about your familiarity with traditional Chinese medicine."
"It's alright, he won't find anything out anyway." Yunqi was confident that even if Grandpa Huo investigated, he could only find out about Anqi's simple and monotonous daily life, so there was nothing to worry about.
"Old Master Huo is a nationally renowned traditional Chinese medicine doctor, and the Huo family runs its own pharmaceutical company, which is one of the top in the country." Xiao Qi dutifully explained the information it had found.
Seeing how dedicated Xiaoqi was, Yunqi felt embarrassed to slack off. After returning to her apartment and practicing a set of boxing techniques until she was drenched in sweat, she took a shower and chatted with Xiaoqi in her mind while drying her hair: "Xiaoqi, Anqi's wish is to become a gaming master. What level do you have to reach to be considered a gaming master?"
"This... requires Kiki to figure it out herself."
Alright, it's always good to improve my skills in the game first. For the next week, I spent my days either in class or working part-time at Baicaotang. In the evenings, I would go back to my apartment and play some games.
Ever since giving Grandpa Huo the class schedule, whenever Grandpa Huo saw that Yunqi didn't have class or was a little late, he would assume something had happened to her and call to ask where she was, if she was having any trouble, and if she needed his help. This left Yunqi both amused and exasperated. So, in her spare time, Yunqi would help Grandpa Huo watch the shop, and any unfinished homework she occasionally had to do was done in Grandpa Huo's "Hundred Herbs Hall" during her spare time.
The work at Baicaotang was quite easy. Occasionally, she would sort and put away newly arrived herbs and help patients prepare medicine. In her spare time, she would read the medical books at Old Master Huo's place and chat with him occasionally. Sometimes, a casual remark from Yunqi would enlighten Old Master Huo, to the point that he treated Yunqi as a close friend despite their age difference, and discussed prescriptions with her as if she were an outsider.
Yunqi repeatedly stated that she was just an apprentice and didn't need to come to her for everything. Old Master Huo looked regretful and said, "Qiqi, with your skill level, even the TCM doctors practicing in the clinic might not be as good as you."
"Grandpa Huo, I'm just a herbal medicine apprentice. I don't have a medical license and can't practice medicine."
"Hmph, isn't passing an exam a piece of cake for you?"
"..."
That night, Yunqi lay down in the gaming pod and started playing games. The little chick next to her kept chirping, and only Yunqi could understand what it was saying: "Wow, I can finally come out for some fresh air again!"
After a week, I've basically got a feel for the game. These past few days, I've been running dungeons, leveling up, and grinding monsters every day.
"Let's go, let's set off. We'll go to a small dungeon first and help you get some experience to level up. After this run, you should be level 30."
After completing the level 10, 20, and 30 solo dungeon quests, the chick reached level 29. It evolved once at level 10, and after two evolutions, it had grown considerably and was starting to resemble a small bird. After completing the level 40 solo dungeon, Xiao Qi finally reached level 30 and completed its third evolution, growing a fiery red tail feather and starting to look a bit like a phoenix.
Vermilion Bird (Early Stage of Divine Beast):
Name: Xiaoqi
Level: 30
Intimacy: 100/100
physical strength:? ? ?
Intelligence: ? ? ?
Agile: ? ? ?
Skill: Phoenix Feathers in the Sky (Area of effect damage skill, feathers transform into thousands of sharp swords that shoot towards the target, 10*10 area of effect, with a burning effect lasting 4 seconds)
A 10x10 area of damage is 100 square meters, which is simply incredible. No wonder it's a mythical beast; its skills are amazing.
Yunqi isn't completely broke anymore. Although she didn't gain much experience from the level 10, 20, and 30 dungeons these past few days, she got a lot of rare materials from the chests. She sold the unused materials for a good amount of gold, bought some advancement pills and pet meat, and then some materials to make potions and health potions, leaving her almost broke. There was no other way; she was still too poor. Materials were cheaper than finished products, so buying materials was more cost-effective. Besides, the potions on the market weren't as good as the ones she made, and they were more expensive.
This was practically a one-sided massacre. Yunqi consumed a speed-boosting potion (increasing speed by 10% for 5 minutes) and, with precise positioning, lured the monsters into one spot. Xiaoqi then used the "Phoenix Feather Nine Heavens" skill, and most of the monsters were instantly killed. For those that survived, Yunqi finished them off, resulting in a rapid increase in experience points and a significant amount of loot. Normal monsters mostly dropped white and green gear, while elite monsters dropped blue gear, and occasionally purple. (Equipment attributes increased in the order of white-green-blue-purple-red-orange, with orange gear having the highest attributes and also known as gold gear.) The final boss dropped one purple and one red item, and the completion chest contained one red and two orange items. Given the current prevalence of blue and purple gear, those with a full set of red gear and occasionally one or two orange pieces are generally considered top-tier players, either guild leaders or elders.
