Chapter 31 Traveling the World 2

The two shopkeepers breathed a silent sigh of relief as Yunqi left.

Shopkeeper Liu: "This fairy must have just come from the cultivation world..."

The clothing store owner said, "This fairy is quite easy to talk to. I always thought fairies were all very arrogant..."

"..."

Upon returning to the money exchange, Manager Liu immediately sent someone to inform the head of the household that a fairy had exchanged mid-grade spirit stones for silver at the money exchange.

Holding a candied hawthorn, Yunqi looked at the snacks sold at roadside stalls, wanting to buy everything. But then she thought that there weren't many cultivators in the human realm, and ordinary people might never even see one in their entire lives. So, she decided it was best not to abruptly put them into her spatial ring; she should keep a low profile and not scare them…

Yunqi bought everything: mung bean cakes, scallion pancakes, roasted chestnuts... each in a small portion. There were so many kinds, Yunqi couldn't carry them all...

Yunqi noticed a little beggar in the corner, his clothes covered in patches, staring intently at the scallion pancake in her hand. She beckoned him over: "Little one, come here?"

The little beggar looked around, then pointed to himself: "Fairy sister, are you... calling me?"

It's quite nice to be called "Fairy Sister".

Yunqi: "Yes, that's right, I'm calling for you! Come here."

The little beggar subconsciously patted the dust off his body, then, remembering how dirty he was, he lowered his head and moved closer to Yun Qi, but dared not get too close.

The little beggar had clear, bright eyes, so Yunqi softened her voice and asked, "What's your name?"

"..."

Yunqi had only asked casually and didn't care whether he answered or not.

Yunqi handed him the scallion pancake: "I bought too many and can't carry them all. You can have this scallion pancake."

Are you really going to give it to me?

"Mmm, here, have some."

"Thank you, fairy sister."

The little beggar took the scallion pancake and disappeared into the alley.

Yunqi: "..."

Several more little beggars tried to come up and beg for food... probably because they saw her give the scallion pancakes to the little beggars earlier.

However, these people's eyes lacked the clarity of the little beggar's; they were filled with shrewdness and cunning.

Yunqi thought it was harmless, paid the money, asked the owner to give them two scallion pancakes each, and then walked away.

Several little beggars wanted to follow Yunqi, but they were scared off by Yunqi's imposing aura.

As Yunqi entered the teahouse, she heard the storyteller speaking animatedly...

Yunqi requested a private room on the second floor directly opposite the storyteller, where she could listen to the story while sipping tea...

The storyteller recounted with great enthusiasm the massacre of the Xiao family in the martial arts world… Of the 157 members of the Xiao family, not a single one survived… The fire burned for three days and three nights… It was a truly horrific tragedy… However, it is said that the youngest son of the Xiao family patriarch escaped the massacre because he was playful; it is unknown how he is doing now…

Why did you exterminate the entire Xiao family?

It's all for the Xiao family sword manual...

Indeed, wherever there are people, there is a world of intrigue...

Yunqi thought the food tasted good, so she ordered several more snacks and desserts, which she secretly put into her spatial ring after the waiter left.

When it came time to pay, the waiter looked at the empty fruit platters on the table, and then at Yunqi's petite figure, and thought to himself, "This must be the legendary big eater... She can really eat!"

I spent five days shopping and sightseeing.

Eating various snacks every day and listening to storytellers recount gossip, Yunqi started to feel bored again...

Yunqi refreshed the system interface idly… Didn’t Xiaoqi say she’d be back in a few days? Five or six days have passed, and she still hasn’t returned…

Suddenly, a new task appeared on the system interface: Find the descendants of Chu Yunqi's human realm family and provide them with any assistance you can. (Reward for completion: 1000 points; no penalty for failure.)

...This...Chu Yunqi was sent to the cultivation world to study at the age of 6 because of her extraordinary talent. In her early years, she would return to the human world to visit her parents. After her parents passed away, there were no more children in her clan with cultivation talent. Faced with a group of younger generations who looked older than herself, Chu Yunqi rarely went back...

Everyone says that time flies in cultivation, but it's been over two thousand years now... I have no idea what the Chu family is like now... How am I supposed to find them?!

It doesn't really matter whether I do this task or not, I'll just leave it to fate...

While saying it was all up to fate, Yun Qi still carefully examined the original owner's memories. The original owner's family was located in Tianzhuang Village, Tianfeng City, in what is now Tianqing Kingdom... which is also the most likely place where descendants of the Chu family could be found...

Yunqi prepared a luxurious carriage, prioritizing comfort, and hired a driver. They traveled to Tianzhuang Village, enjoying the scenery along the way. Whenever they saw something fun or delicious, they had the driver buy it and put it in the carriage... and then Yunqi put most of it into her ring.

The driver always eagerly stepped forward to help: it wasn't that he was being solicitous, it was just that Yunqi paid him so much... He'd feel embarrassed to accept such high wages if he didn't do more work!

Yunqi looked at the paper doll in her hand. Her blood was dripped on the paper doll. If there were any people of the Chu family bloodline nearby, the paper doll would sense it.

Unfortunately, the little paper doll didn't react at all as she walked along...

"Girl, someone up ahead is injured."

Yunqi pulled back the car curtain, and there lay a teenager covered in blood on the side of the road.

The boy's breathing was weak, and his body was covered in knife wounds; he was now exhaling more than inhaling...

The driver had a vague feeling that his employer this time had some supernatural powers, and perhaps she could save him: "Girl, please save him."

Yunqi looked at the driver and said, "You're quite kind-hearted."

The driver chuckled sheepishly: "My mother said that saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda."

"Give him this pill."

The coachman took the pill and fed it to the boy with water. At Yunqi's instruction, he then carried the boy into the carriage, and they continued their journey.

Yunqi used the effects of the Great Rejuvenation Pill to channel her spiritual power and help the boy recover from his injuries.
