Chapter 95 Top Alpha: He was once a crippled Omega. 5. Your body...
Qi Pingye felt a sinking feeling in his chest. He looked down and saw only Chen Wu's dark, damp hair.
He was completely soaked, as if he had been pulled out of the water.
Qi Pingye paused, his hand, which was about to push the person away, stopped.
The scene he had witnessed upon returning flashed through his mind again.
The sudden tears streaming down the young man's face, and those pained yet surprisingly bright eyes, left him stunned and deeply moved.
For some reason, he didn't want to see him make that expression again.
The raised hand paused for a moment, then turned and pulled out another inhibitor from the box beside it.
“There are no legitimate inducers; they all circulate on the black market. The fever induced by them is also abnormal. One inhibitor isn’t enough; you need another one. Can you handle that?” Qi Pingye’s voice was calm and composed, with no trace of anything unusual left.
Before returning with the inhibitor, he had already given himself two injections.
He wasn't injected with an inducing agent, but he was somewhat affected by the pheromone-induced fever. One injection would be okay, but two would be safer. He didn't want his pheromones to leak out and be discovered.
The man's voice came through the vibration of his chest, and Chen Wu's tongue trembled uncontrollably as she tried to calm her voice and said, "...Go ahead and hit me."
He tilted his head slightly, revealing half of his bare, white nape.
A fresh red dot flashed across the screen, a trace left by the previous inhibitor. It was a bit conspicuous under the deliberately dimmed flashlight beam, like a plum blossom petal scattered on a snowy field.
Qi Pingye suddenly felt a bit hot in his hand with the second inhibitor he was holding.
Shenwu was unaware that he had undergone a second differentiation and still believed he was a crippled Omega. It was understandable that he would show such an attitude to him. However, he knew his own situation. He was already an Alpha. Hiding his identity was out of trust and out of necessity, but to take advantage of this concealment was just too outrageous.
Shen Wu was currently feeling weak, so it was normal for him to administer suppressants to him. However, it would be abnormal for him to use the pretense of administering suppressants to spy on Shen Wu's glands at an overly intimate distance.
Despite the natural and fatal attraction that fair skin exuding alluring pheromones had for Alphas, Qi Pingye calmly turned his gaze away.
He held Shenwu's shoulder, letting her hair slide down to cover the back of her neck again, and then pressed down with his hand, inserting a needle cleanly and decisively.
"You... smell of thorns," Shenwu suddenly said.
Qi Pingye's heart skipped a beat, and his breath almost stopped.
But his fingers remained steady as he pushed the syringe.
He didn't know if Shen Wu had suddenly asked this because he had noticed something, or what, but he certainly wouldn't give a second answer.
"How many people who have struggled on Zorro Star don't have this kind of spirit?" He heard his own voice answer calmly and casually.
Shenwu didn't speak again, and it was unclear whether she believed him or not.
But Qi Pingye felt that he was more likely to believe him. His unstable period of secondary differentiation had passed, and his control over pheromones was stronger. He was certain that he had not leaked a single pheromone here.
Unless Shenwu is particularly sensitive to his pheromones and smells something through the two needle holes recently pierced his glands, it would be impossible for her to perceive anything.
Qi Pingye remained calm and removed the IV: "Glands are very fragile. Whether it's someone of the same sex or the opposite sex, don't show them to others easily."
He gave a soft instruction, then gently moved the person away from his arms and led them to a clean blanket nearby.
Shen Wu leaned her head against the edge of the bed, her amber eyes slightly raised: "Would you hurt me?"
"I will not offend others unless they offend me." Qi Pingye can give an honest answer to this question: "If you don't harm me, I won't harm you."
Shen Wu chuckled softly, "Okay, I believe you, Brother Qi."
Qi Pingye glanced at him.
Shen Wu's trust in him was roughly the same as his trust in Shen Wu, both of which had to be discounted by at least 50%.
The scent of roses in the cold mist began to fade.
Qi Pingye knew that Shen Wu had recovered quite a bit, so he raised his chin toward the corpse soaking in blood beside him and asked, "Tell me, what happened?"
Shen Wu glanced at the corpse following his movements, her throat trembled as if she wanted to vomit, but she forced herself to suppress it.
Seeing this, Qi Pingye poured him a glass of water.
“Thank you,” Shenwu accepted the drink, took two sips, and then said, “It was Soros’s trap. He bribed the Beta who was taking care of me. While you were celebrating the near completion of the aircraft maintenance work at dinner, the Beta drugged me, brought me here, injected me with an inducer, and induced my fever.”
"I didn't wake up until after midnight, but I had a fever and was tied up, so it took me a long time to break free. Just as I was about to escape, Soros, who had just gotten away from a drinking party, came over."
"He wanted to mark me. His glands were injured in his early years, and his pheromones are often disordered. His Omega is F-rank, and he can no longer regulate his pheromones. I knew all this and was always on guard against him, but I never expected that he would almost succeed..."
Qi Pingye asked, "Did you deliberately turn on the lights in this cabin?"
“Yes,” Chen Wu looked at Qi Pingye, “that time was very close to the time we agreed to meet again. I bet you haven’t left yet and you’ll see the lights here.”
Qi Pingye sighed: "I saw it."
Shen Wu gave a genuine smile: "Thank you for coming."
Qi Pingye had previously thought that people lacked sincerity, but now that he had met them, he felt uneasy.
“It’s nothing,” he said. “I wasn’t much of a help anyway; you’ve already killed him.”
Shen Wu lowered his eyes: "This is not the first time I have killed someone. But killing an Alpha who is far stronger than an Omega is the first time. Although Soros drank too much and was careless, and my pheromone level is higher than his, it is still very incredible."
Qi Pingye was also surprised by this.
The physical differences between Alpha, Beta, and Omega are innate. Training can make up for a lot of the gap, but it cannot completely bridge it.
In a life-or-death struggle, it's not impossible for an Omega to overcome the physiological gap and defeat the stronger one, but it's extremely difficult. Qi Pingye hadn't even seen many Omegas do this in the military.
"You killed him and protected yourself. That's impressive."
Qi Pingye Road.
He gazed at the thick fog and praised it sincerely.
Shen Wu paused for a moment, then looked up and met Qi Pingye's earnest yet appreciative gaze.
He paused, then subconsciously opened his eyes and said to Qi Pingye, "It's getting late, you should leave now. I'll handle the body."
Qi Pingye smirked: "Handle? How do you plan to handle it? This body alone is easy to handle, but the disappearance of the escort team's deputy captain is not so easy. There are so many people here, and the Beta who took care of you is still alive. Anyone with a brain can easily figure out what happened and identify you as the murderer."
Shen Wu understood the unspoken meaning in Qi Pingye's words.
He raised his amber eyes again and looked at him: "You want to help me? I don't have much to give you."
Qi Pingye said, "No need to give more, the old terms will do. I was planning to leave Zorro Star anyway, so it doesn't matter if I leave sooner."
"Leave Zorro Star?" Shen Wu frowned.
Does Qi Ping have a way to cover up Soros's disappearance flawlessly? Otherwise, how could the escort team have managed to leave after discovering it?
"Is there anything you absolutely need to bring that you don't have with you?" Qi Pingye asked again.
Shen Wu was puzzled, but still answered, "No."
Qi Pingye extended his hand to him: "Can you walk?"
Shenwu stood up with his help, her posture steady, answering him with her actions.
Qi Pingye raised an eyebrow, gave him a thumbs-up without hesitation, and then said, "Let's go."
After saying that, he ignored Soros's body and the mess in the room, opened the hatch, and walked out.
Shen Wu followed him and saw him quickly cross the corridor and stop in front of the cockpit. She paused for a moment and asked, "You...you're not going to just take the aircraft away, are you?"
Qi Pingye remained silent, using temporary access as a pretext to hack into the aircraft management system and focus on cracking the hatch lock.
"You really know how to fly a flying machine?" For the first time, Shen Wu's face showed a vivid expression befitting his age.
He was genuinely surprised.
He knew Qi Pingye was a skilled mechanic, but he didn't know he had this particular talent. Being able to repair doesn't mean you can drive it. Aside from the military and the city lord's mansion, there are very few people on the entire planet Zorro who can pilot a spacecraft into space. This is something those of them who spend their days in garbage dumps can't learn.
While surprised, Shenwu quickly reminded her, "This is a military aircraft, not a civilian one. The sandstorm hasn't stopped yet, you..."
“It’s almost over,” Qi Pingye said. “Don’t worry, it can fly. Whether it’s this aircraft or even worse weather.”
"I've driven it."
He looked at the thick fog.
The fog paused.
With a beep, the cockpit door opened.
Qi Pingye didn't turn on the lights, but easily found his way in, led Shen Wu to the co-operator's seat, then turned around and leaned back in the pilot's seat, his fingers flying across the control panel as he started the aircraft.
Shen Wu was still somewhat dazed, encircled by the protective armrests on her seat.
He looked at Qi Pingye's profile illuminated by the backlight of the control panel, and while his spirits relaxed, his heart couldn't help but sink.
This man has far more secrets than he imagined, and leaving him like this, he doesn't know if the outcome will be better or worse. But no matter what, he has to leave.
Leaving was uncertain, staying meant certain death. He had no choice.
Under Qi Pingye's skillful operation, the aircraft was quickly and successfully launched.
The ship's hull lit up, the engines vibrated, and a tremendous roar resounded throughout the metal shed.
Now, unless the people in the small building are dead, they can't possibly ignore this commotion. Qi Pingye knew this, so he stopped trying to hide it and turned on all the lights on the ship.
The two-story building was startled and instantly lit up. The escort team rushed out without even bothering to put on their clothes. They were probably still confused and didn't know what was going on until Wang Ping roared, at which point they all rushed over to try and stop the launching aircraft.
But this is bound to be in vain.
Qi Pingye whistled, waved at them, and pushed the control lever.
The aircraft spewed out blasts of air, as powerful as a sandstorm outside, instantly knocking over anyone who got close.
The heat from the engine distorted the air, dust billowed, and the aircraft floated into the air. With a clean and crisp drift, it changed direction and crashed through the metal shed door with a terrifying sonic boom, shooting out of the building.
"Who is it!"
"Who's on the aircraft?!"
Amidst the swirling dust and sand, Wang Ping roared hoarsely.
However, the person who could immediately answer his questions was no longer here.
The sandstorm near Oasis No. 3 had indeed subsided considerably and was nearing its end, but it was only nearing its end. As soon as the aircraft took off, Qi Pingye felt some unstable vibrations.
The sandstorms on Zorro Star are different from ordinary sandstorms. They are said to be a special type of planetary tide caused by the magnetic field of storms in the wind-driven airspace. The sandstorms are mixed with the effects of electromagnetic storms, making them quite complex. But Qi Pingye has even encountered real cosmic electromagnetic storms, so why would he be afraid of this small-scale event?
He calmly maneuvered the aircraft, even as alarms blared throughout the cockpit from various instruments malfunctioning due to the sandstorm.
"Are you scared?" He even had the leisure to chat with Shen Wu.
"If you say you're afraid, will you let me go?" Chen Wu asked.
"Of course not," Qi Pingye said.
"Then don't ask, just drive," Chen Wu said ruthlessly.
He appeared calm, but in reality, the veins on his fingers were bulging as he gripped the protective arm, and he dared not move an inch.
Qi Pingye saw this and burst into laughter.
This Shen Wu, who wasn't very polite to him, was much more likable than the Shen Wu who put on a pitiful smile for him.
The spacecraft entered the atmosphere and was about to leave Zorro Star for good.
Qi Pingye glanced back at the porthole one last time.
Oasis No. 3 has long since become an indistinct dot, disappearing into the vast sandstorm.
He knew he would leave sooner or later, and he had made many plans for it, but he never imagined that the departure would be so fast and so sudden.
Following the original plan and going with the escort team, then escaping midway, would certainly be the safest option.
But tonight, Soros's death unexpectedly arrived. This incident left him with only two choices: either abandon Shenwu, cut ties with the escort team, and wait for a black market ticket to leave, or take Shenwu with him and leave immediately before everything was discovered.
He chose the latter.
The only problem with this choice is that it was a bit too rushed, and there were many things he hadn't had time to explain.
Hopefully, when the snotty-nosed kids search his house again, they'll find his savings. He ate dry bread and dried meat strips for two years, saving all that money for them—to spend it all, not to be stingy. If they hadn't taken him in and insisted on saving him, he would have been a pile of mud in the garbage dump long ago, with no future to speak of.
If he has the chance in the future, he will definitely come back. By then, he will surely have the power to change this place.
The spacecraft broke through the atmosphere of Zorro.
Outside the porthole, the tan planet gradually shrank and receded into the distance.
The aircraft entered a vacuum; outside the ship, all was silent, except for the faint hum of instruments inside.
As Chen Wu gazed out the window, a sense of bewilderment slowly welled up within him.
He left...
He really left.
His eyes revealed barely suppressed joy, and his grip on the protective arm loosened and tightened repeatedly.
After a long pause, he suddenly seemed to remember something, composed himself, and said to Qi Pingye, "Aren't you worried that Oasis No. 3 will be blamed by Ganlu City if we just leave like this?"
