Chapter 19 Unexpected

Chapter 19 Unexpected

When Xie Jingchen heard that it was Ma Nanzheng calling, he immediately dropped everything and rushed to answer the call.

"Zhengzi!"

“…Squad Leader.” Having not seen him for so long, just hearing Xie Jingchen’s voice brought tears to Ma Nanzheng’s eyes.

Xie Jingchen asked worriedly, "Did something happen to you?"

After all these years, Ma Nanzheng had never contacted him on his own initiative.

After calming himself down, Ma Nanzheng recounted the whole story from beginning to end.

Xie Jingchen was overjoyed: "Really? That's wonderful! I just happen to need a capable assistant, why don't you take this opportunity to come back?"

Ma Nanzheng did indeed have this idea.

But he had been retired from the military for many years and was afraid that the complicated procedures would cause trouble for Xie Jingchen, and he was also afraid that he was no longer young and would not be qualified.

Xie Jingchen feigned anger and said, "Haven't we seen each other in so long that you're treating me like an outsider? How can something that concerns one's own brother be considered troublesome?"

So Ma Nanzheng stopped saying discouraging things and just grinned foolishly.

Three hours later, Ma Nanzheng called Xie Jingchen again and learned that things had gone very smoothly and all the procedures had been completed.

Xie Jingchen said, "I've already bought a ticket for the fastest train. I'll leave right after making the call and arrive the day after tomorrow. There are trains available in both the eastern and western units. I've already made arrangements for you; all you need to do is come."

When Ma Nanzheng heard that Xie Jingchen was coming to pick him up in person, he was both touched and nervous, and almost tripped and fell on his way home.

Last night, Mr. and Mrs. Ma went to the police station to report Ms. Xia for selling her daughter.

When the police heard that someone actually dared to openly sell his daughter and make such a large sum of money, they immediately assembled a team to arrest the man at the Xia residence.

Just then, Xia's mother lay down, happily imagining her blissful life in the port city, when she heard someone break down the door.

She hurriedly got up and looked, only to find it was that group of persistent police officers again!

She was about to hurl a few words of rebuke when, in the next second, a pair of silver handcuffs locked her wrists.

"Someone reported you for openly selling women. Please come with us."

Xia's mother was stunned!

Selling her daughter? The Ma family actually reported her?

Could it be that their disabled son didn't like Xia Fanxing?

Even so, you shouldn't have reported her!

The police officer tossed a coat to Xia's mother, telling her to put it on because it was cold outside and she shouldn't freeze to death.

But Xia's mother, clutching her coat, cried, "Officer, how could I possibly sell my daughter? The Ma family and I had a perfectly normal agreement. There must be some misunderstanding. You can't just believe the Ma family's one-sided story."

Thinking of something, she quickly said, "Yes, the Ma family must have had bad intentions. They want the person but don't want to pay the bride price, so they're framing me like this!"

A clear, cold female voice suddenly came from outside the door: "Misunderstanding? I'd like to hear what the misunderstanding is."

Xia Fanxing stepped over the threshold and looked at her mother with a faint smile.

"They trapped me in a net, knocked me unconscious, and then took me to the Ma family home, lying to them that I agreed to the marriage and that I was just asleep. My dear mother, is this what you call a misunderstanding?"

When Xia's mother saw Xia Fanxing, all her questions were answered.

A deep fear rose from the bottom of her heart, and she pointed at Xia Fanxing with a trembling hand, "...You know, you did it on purpose! We were all wrong, wrong, hahahaha!"

They thought the scheme was flawless and perfect, and that they could get everything by sacrificing Xia Fanxing.

But in reality, Xia Fanxing was using a scheme to turn the tables on them and plunge them into an abyss of no return.

Xia Fanxing feigned ignorance and played the victim: "Mom, what are you saying? I don't understand. But I never thought that our twenty-year mother-daughter relationship could be bought off with money. I'm really heartbroken."

As she spoke, Xia Fanxing lowered her head and wiped away her tears.

A female police officer standing nearby offered him a handkerchief with heartache and said indignantly, "Young comrade, it's not worth crying over parents like these. The law will seek justice for you!"

The female police officer disdainfully helped Xia's mother put on her coat and then took her away directly.

Xia Fanxing followed at the back of the crowd, wiping her eyes with a handkerchief every now and then.

As they exited the gate, Xia Baijiao and Xia Yu rushed over.

Xia Baijiao asked in confusion, "What happened? Why did you take my mother away?"

After a brief explanation, the police officers took the people and drove away in their police car.

Xia Yu froze on the spot.

Xia Baijiao muttered to herself, "The police think all the money is with my mother, but actually the money has already been given to Uncle Song to buy boat tickets. No, I have to inform Uncle Song right away!"

However, just as Xia Baijiao was about to leave, she was tripped and fell hard to the ground, scraping her hands and cheeks and bleeding.

Xia Yu, having regained his senses from the commotion, quickly helped Xia Baijiao, who was crying and cursing, to her feet.

Only then did the two notice Xia Fanxing, who had somehow ended up standing there.

Xia Baijiao shouted, "You jinx! Why did you wake up? Why didn't you just obediently marry that cripple? Why did you have to cause so much trouble for everyone!"

Xia Yu said hatefully, "You made Dad faint from anger, you sent Mom to the police station, and you ruined my sister and me too. Are you satisfied now? You vicious bitch!"

They didn't expect Xia Fanxing to say, "Of course I'm not satisfied yet. After all, my goal is to make you all die."

She uttered the most bloody words with the calmest tone and the most ordinary expression, making people feel extremely horrified.

Xia Baijiao and Xia Yu were so frightened that they couldn't speak and could only stare at her in terror.

Xia Fanxing scoffed and turned to enter the house.

She went to visit Xia's father, gave him a few simple acupuncture treatments, and made sure he would wake up at dawn.

There's more to come, and he, as the main character, can't be absent.

Then she quietly sneaked into the Song residence.

She heard what Xia Baijiao said, but she didn't intend to report Song's father.

She wanted to use Song's father as a lead to track down the ship tickets.

Unexpectedly, Song's father became too complacent. Instead of immediately contacting someone to buy boat tickets after receiving the money, he and Song's mother went out to have fun.

The video is not visible, but the sound is truly unbearable.

Xia Fanxing, who was hiding in the tree, didn't have to endure the ordeal for long before she saw the familiar police officers breaking down the door again.

Song's father and 29,000 were taken away together. Song's mother cried uncontrollably, and Song Hechao knelt on the ground and roared to the sky, "Heaven wants to destroy me."

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Xia Fanxing secretly slipped into the bedroom and study, carefully searching for any letters or telegrams related to the ship tickets.

She actually found it.

The next morning.

The gate to the main courtyard of the Xia residence opened, and Xia's father, who had been unconscious for a day and a night, finally woke up.

He summoned his only servant and told him to prepare whatever food the household had for him, as he was starving.

After seeing their father regain consciousness, Xia Baijiao and Xia Yu seemed to have found their pillar of support. They told him everything that had happened while he was unconscious, hoping he could think of a way to salvage the situation.

Xia's father was feeling dizzy and hadn't even started thinking when another group of police officers rushed into the house and locked cold silver handcuffs on his wrists.

Xia Baijiao anxiously tried to stop them, "Why are you arresting my dad? He was unconscious all day yesterday and wasn't involved in that at all. You can't arrest an innocent person!"

The police officer scoffed, "That's him we're arresting!"
