Chapter 9 Stop fooling around

Chapter 9 Stop fooling around

Early in the morning, Xia Fanxing took Xia Ye out.

She rode her bicycle to the state-owned factory where Xia Ye worked and asked Xia Ye to wait at the entrance of the personnel department.

Xia Ye didn't know what was happening, but she would absolutely obey Xia Fanxing's orders.

Xia Fanxing entered the room, where the HR manager happened to be.

She didn't say anything immediately, but instead took out some peach shortbread she had prepared beforehand from her bag and placed it on the table.

The manager was a stern, middle-aged woman who commanded respect even without being angry.

She saw the peach shortbread, pushed up her glasses, looked at Xia Fanxing, and said in a businesslike tone, "Take the peach shortbread back. If you have something to say, then say it."

Xia Fanxing then said, "Hello manager, I'd like to change jobs."

The manager frowned: "You sold your jobs? It's not that you're not allowed to sell your jobs, but the factory has trained you for so long, and you've finally become proficient in your jobs. If you just sell them, new people will come and you'll have to learn everything from scratch. Have you ever thought about the factory's interests?"

Xia Fanxing: "Manager, you've misunderstood. I wanted to transfer the job to your son."

The manager's words caught in his throat, his face quickly flushed with excitement, and his expression and attitude immediately became friendly. "Xia, what do you mean by that?"

When Xia Fanxing graduated, everyone was assigned a job, and everyone started from the same point: as a factory worker.

Because of her intelligence and competence, she has been promoted all the way to her current good office job, which is highly sought after.

The manager's son will graduate next year. Given the current situation, next year's graduates will not only be unable to find jobs, but will also very likely be assigned to rural areas!

The manager doesn't want to be separated from his son, and he doesn't want his son to suffer. He's been so worried lately that he's even getting more gray hairs.

At this moment, Xia Fanxing took the initiative to offer to transfer her job, and it was such a good job. How could the manager not be excited and happy?

Xia Fanxing said, "I'm transferring the job to your son for free, hoping you can help my friend find an ordinary job."

With the manager's permission, Xia Fanxing let Xia Ye in.

The manager tentatively asked, "Can factory workers also work?"

Xia Fanxing smiled and nodded, "Anything is fine as long as it's a formal job in the factory."

"Great!" The manager slammed his hand on the table, his face beaming. "Xia, although I can only give her a workshop job right now, I will never treat her unfairly if there is an opportunity in the future."

"Thank you, Manager." Xia Fanxing knew that the manager was making a tacit promise to take care of Xia Ye in the factory in the future.

Xia Ye was completely bewildered, not yet understanding what was going on.

Xia Fanxing winked at Xia Ye, but didn't explain for the time being.

As the two reached the door, the manager caught up and slipped an envelope into Xia Fanxing's bag.

Xia Fanxing immediately understood what this meant and refused, saying, "Manager, I can't accept it."

The manager, beaming with joy, laughed and said, "You're a smart kid with high emotional intelligence. You know how to handle things. Even if you leave our factory, your future is limitless. Consider this my early congratulations."

Xia Fanxing accepted it and then handed it to Xia Ye after she came out.

The envelope felt like a hot potato to Xia Ye; she was at a loss, shaking her head repeatedly, almost in tears.

Xia Fanxing smiled gently and patted her head affectionately. "Little Yezi, I'm leaving soon, but I can't take you with me. I can only give you these things. You'll have to rely on yourself from now on."

Xia Ye wanted to ask Xia Fanxing where she was going and why she couldn't take her with her, but she was just a servant and had no right or standing to ask.

Xia Fanxing noticed Xia Ye's dejection and pretended to be serious as she made a promise: "You have to work hard. Who knows, I might suddenly appear in front of you one day. If you're still just an ordinary worker then, I'll definitely be angry."

Xia Ye's attention was indeed diverted by these words, and he hurriedly promised to work hard and strive for a promotion as soon as possible so as not to disappoint Xia Fanxing.

Xia Ye's eyes were filled with anticipation, ambition, and confidence for the future, a stark contrast to the complaints of Xia Baijiao and Xia Yu in their previous life.

In her past life, Xia Fanxing traded her good job for two ordinary jobs for Xia Baijiao and Xia Yu, which was at least better than being factory workers.

Moreover, it's not that they're really going to work properly; it's all temporary. It's a cover for their escape to the port city, to avoid being closely monitored by higher-ups.

After all, no one would have imagined that someone with a stable job would secretly be planning to escape.

Just before boarding the ship, Xia Yu and Xia Baijiao poured out their grievances about work.

They complained that Xia Fanxing was too thoughtful and thought too much, saying that whether they had jobs or not was completely unimportant because the higher-ups never even considered sending someone to monitor them.

Xia Fanxing was clearly working tirelessly for them, but she didn't receive any benefits whatsoever. Instead, she seemed like a villain.

So she gave her job to Xia Ye in this lifetime, partly to provide Xia Ye with a guarantee for her future life.

On the other hand, they also wanted to see if the Xia family could escape smoothly like in their previous life without her "deep thoughts".

Before long, all the formalities were completed, and Xia Ye officially became a workshop worker in the state-owned factory.

Xia Fanxing took her on a tour of the entire factory, explaining everything in detail.

After they finished lunch in the canteen, they had just stepped out of the factory gate when they saw Song Hechao walking aggressively straight toward Xia Fanxing.

Seeing that the newcomer was hostile, Xia Ye immediately spread her arms to protect Xia Fanxing and glared angrily at Song Hechao, looking very fierce.

In reality, Song Hechao grabbed her clothes and easily threw her aside.

She fell to the ground and rolled over.

Song Hechao reached out to take Xia Fanxing's hand, "Come with me."

But before he could finish saying "go," Xia Fanxing slammed her bag hard against his head.

The bag was originally empty; it was Xia Fanxing's way of concealing her taking things from her spatial storage.

But before it could smash, an aluminum lunchbox and other hard objects appeared out of nowhere, quickly causing Song Hechao's forehead to bleed.

"Stop hitting me! Stop hitting me! I'm Song Hechao!" he shouted as he dodged, looking extremely disheveled.

Xia Fanxing pretended to have just noticed and finally stopped, "Oh, I knew it was you, that hooligan who dared to grope a woman in broad daylight."

Song Hechao found these words strange, as if they were saying, "So it was you, you scoundrel."

He touched the wound on his forehead; his hands were covered in blood, but he couldn't care less about that now.

He said anxiously, "Fanxing, come with me quickly."

Xia Fanxing stood still and said calmly, "Comrade Song, please have some self-respect. We have no relationship now, and you need to keep your distance from me."

Song Hechao was a little angry. "Xia Fanxing, you can joke around all you want, but can you stop bringing up serious matters? Grandpa fainted yesterday and couldn't move after waking up today. Grandma is so heartbroken that she hasn't been able to eat anything since yesterday. You've been taking care of them all this time. Is it wrong for me to come to you? Can you just stand by and watch those two old people continue like this?"
