His tone was somewhat intriguing.
"Giving it to your country is not an option, but giving it to my girlfriend is."
He pinched his lip with his thumb, his face was sinister, and his eyes were naked, like a vampire eyeing its prey.
Gu Nanzhi naturally understood what he meant. Her fair face quickly turned red, but even though she was so humiliated, she simply loosened her clenched fists and said coldly.
"Dr. Charles, please have some self-respect."
She can't afford to offend them.
Charles's interest deepened; he liked girls with personality. He sat back on the sofa, crossed his legs, draped his arms over the back of the sofa, and chuckled.
“Beautiful girl, my promise is valid at any time.”
"A talent like yours is a real waste in that country—"
A loud bang as the door slammed shut interrupted Charles's patient and persuasive words.
More than ten days passed, and Lu Huai'an had sent out all his wedding invitations.
Gu Nanzhi, who still couldn't think of a way to return to China, couldn't help but feel anxious.
On her way to the office, suddenly, a black arm with bulging veins stretched out in front of her, blocking her way.
"Miss Gu, the master requests your presence."
Gu Nanzhi, who was lost in thought, was startled, but she recognized him as Charles's bodyguard. She took a couple of deep breaths to calm her fright and followed him into Charles's office.
As Gu Nanzhi bit her lip, struggling with a nauseatingly awful gift, Charles spoke first.
“Beautiful girl, I couldn’t bear to see you so sad. After appealing to the leaders many times, they finally relented and agreed to give you a CT scanner.”
Gu Nanzhi loosened her teeth, her lips parted, and she asked with unexpected surprise, "Really?"
Charles's eyes darkened, but he said gently, "Of course, I'm a gentleman."
"Thank you, Charles." Gu Nanzhi gave Charles a grateful hug.
Charles deliberately asked, "Just a hug?"
Gu Nanzhi really wanted to slap him a few times—a toad trying to eat swan meat—but the situation forced her to stand up slightly, lean in and kiss Charles on the cheek, then pull away immediately.
Charles clearly felt it wasn't enough, so he grabbed Gu Nanzhi's slender waist as she tried to pull away, pressed her into his lap, and kissed her red lips.
Gu Nanzhi was stunned, her eyes widened. She reacted quickly, kicking and punching him.
Broken words spilled from her lips.
"Charle! Do you disregard international agreements?!"
Charles paused, a hint of exasperation flashing in his eyes. Gu Nanzhi keenly noticed this change and seized the opportunity to quickly push him away.
Meeting Gu Nanzhi's embarrassed and resentful gaze, he smiled indifferently: "Beautiful girl, you are so delicious, I can't resist."
Gu Nanzhi felt nauseous and turned to leave, but Charles stopped her in her tracks with a single sentence.
“We can give you the machine, but your country has to provide the formula for the frostbite ointment.”
Gu Nanzhi turned around: "Frostbite ointment?"
“Yes, I’m very interested in a plaster that can help your soldiers resist the cold.”
This could be detrimental to the situation on the battlefield.
Frostbite ointment? Gu Nanzhi had never heard of it, but that didn't stop her from negotiating.
"I need to negotiate with our country, but before that, I need to see the machine and the instruction manual."
Charles readily agreed: "Of course, no problem, my good girl."
He said he would give it, but he didn't specify which generation of CT scanner it would be.
"Are you serious?" Zhang Guodong stood up excitedly.
Gu Nanzhi nodded, keeping only half of what she said to herself.
"I'll contact people back home right away."
Gu Nanzhi stopped Zhang Guodong and whispered in his ear, "Old Zhang, we must not be careless. Getting it is one thing, but bringing it back to the country is the real priority."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Guodong quickly calmed down. If Nan Zhi hadn't reminded him, he feared he would have done something wrong, and then he would have been a sinner.
A cold sweat broke out on his back, and his voice trembled slightly: "I'll think of a way."

During the factory expansion, Su Wantang stayed at the pharmacy to continue studying medicine and also guided Xia Bao in making whitening cream.
He has good talent; in addition to having a good memory and quick comprehension, he can also apply what he has learned to other situations. While Su Wantang was pleasantly surprised, she couldn't help but worry.
Those with exceptional talent may go astray.
Su Wantang considered taking on a disciple and planned to properly discipline him, but she didn't say it outright. Instead, she made even stricter demands on Xia Bao.
If he can meet her requirements, she will accept him as an apprentice; otherwise, she will no longer allow him to pursue this profession.
"Sister Wantang, a girl who claims to be your cousin has come to see you."
Su Wantang paused for a moment: "You focus on making the medicine. I'm going out for a while. Don't slack off."
Xia Bao pouted and said, "Okay, cousin-in-law."
He muttered to himself, "The wedding is just around the corner, it's such a joyous occasion, why is it getting more and more ominous?..."
Su Wantang paused as she walked downstairs.
“Xia Bao, when I come back, you won’t meet the standard. Copy the medical book ten times.”
"Ah!" Xia Bao wailed.
Su Wantang was in a good mood. When she saw that it was Wen Yingying, she quickened her pace.
"Yingying, what brings you here?"
Wen Yingying's illness is not fully cured, but the red rash on her exposed skin has disappeared through treatment. The remaining rashes can be covered by her clothes and no longer prevent her from going out.
The worry in her eyes that seemed out of place for her age was replaced by the gentleness she had before she fell ill.
Wen Yingying smiled shyly: "Sister-in-law, I've come to get the medicine."
Su Wantang scolded, "Didn't I say that my cousin would deliver it to your home later? Why did you come out yourself?"
She said gracefully, "My cousin and his wife are getting married soon, they must be very busy. I don't want to cause them any trouble. Besides, I also want to get out and about."
"It's a good thing to get out and about."
"Wait here, I'll go get the medicine."
