Chapter 211 Meeting Fu Jing

Freed from the gaze, Su Wantang's straight back suddenly bent, and she covered her lips, tears finally flowing freely.

Suddenly, a handkerchief was handed to me.

The blurred vision was suddenly ignited by an astonishing light, but then quickly went out.

"Comrade, there's a man outside who asked me to give this to you."

"Thank you." Su Wantang took the handkerchief and thanked the waiter.

Wiping away her tears and composing herself, she went upstairs to prepare for the banquet and to entertain the guests.

"Boss Su?" Fu Jing walked out of the private room on the second floor and saw Su Wantang with red eyes. He frowned and took two steps forward.

Su Wantang didn't expect to run into Fu Jing here.

Cuihua Tower has three floors, but since there weren't many of them, they booked one floor.

"Captain Fu," Su Wantang greeted him casually.

"It's my maternal grandfather's birthday, so the whole family is having dinner together." Fu Jing lowered his guard subtly.

Su Wantang paused for a moment, then said politely, "Please convey my best wishes to the old man: 'May your happiness be as boundless as the east and your longevity as enduring as the southern mountains.'"

"Okay," Fu Jing replied casually. "You're coming to eat by yourself?"

“No.” Su Wantang’s eyes were filled with tenderness. “I’m having my wedding today.”

Gravel rolled in his throat, and Fu Jing lifted his eyelids slightly, glancing casually at the third floor: "Congratulations."

The wedding was quite a spectacle, and he overheard snippets of conversation from those around him.

But... I never expected it to be her.

He took out a red envelope from his pocket and handed it to Su Wantang: "A congratulatory gift."

Su Wantang was stunned for a moment, and subconsciously wanted to refuse. She hadn't even sent an invitation to the man, so how could she accept his red envelope?

Fu Jing seemed to sense her meaning and spoke first: "Let's... consider ourselves friends for now?"

"Perhaps, Boss Su only sees me as a tool for handling cases."

Su Wantang: "...Thank you."

"When you get married tomorrow, I'll definitely give you a big red envelope."

Fu Jing glanced at Su Wantang and said something inexplicable.

"I guess... it's not going to work. I don't think there's much of a chance."

"I won't keep you any longer. I have something to do, so I'll be going now."

Su Wantang felt that Fu Jing was acting strangely, as if he had suddenly lost his mind. Even if he were seventy or eighty years old, he could still have a twilight romance. How could he be "not good" at such a young age?

As she was thinking, something suddenly popped into Su Wantang's mind, and her eyes widened.

Could it be... that he/she is impotent?

"Wantang." Wen Wanqing took Su Wantang's arm. "Mom knows about this, but we have guests here and can't leave. When that brat comes back, I'll make him kneel on the washboard."

She said indignantly, and Su Wantang couldn't help but chuckle when she thought of that scene, explaining on Lu Huai'an's behalf.

"Mom, military orders are absolute."

Wen Wanqing straightened her tone and said, "Wantang, Mom knows, but Mom feels sorry for you. A woman only has this one chance in her life. Really, why did you have to pick this day? And why did you have to pick Huai'an as your groom?"

Su Wantang guessed something.

Despite the special training team's reputation, it still requires military merit to establish a firm foothold in the army; this is one point.

Secondly, this mission is probably not simple. The higher-ups want to achieve the greatest benefits with the least cost, so the existence of the special training team is the best choice.

"Mom." Su Wantang stopped and looked intently at Wen Wanqing. "If you were me today, would you stop Dad?"

Wen Wanqing fell silent.

She wouldn't; she's never been a woman who indulges in romantic love.

“Mom, I’m just like you. Huai’an has its own beliefs to uphold and protect, and I also have things I want to do. We are first and foremost separate individuals, and then we become like-minded revolutionary comrades.”

This resolute statement stunned Wen Wanqing and also drew the attention of those who had come downstairs.

"Mom is overthinking it."

Wen Wanqing pulled Su Wantang inside, then, remembering something, she said, "Mom doesn't know about the entanglement between the eldest daughter of the Gu family and Huai'an, but Mom assures you, Huai'an doesn't like her. If Huai'an had anything going on with her, he wouldn't have dragged his feet on getting married."

Su Wantang's lips moved slightly: "I'm waiting—"

"Wanqing, is this your daughter-in-law? She's so beautiful."

Wen Wanqing chatted with her familiarly for a couple of minutes, then pulled Su Wantang to the side.

"Wantang, what did you just say? Mom, I didn't hear you clearly."

Su Wantang suddenly laughed, finding her earlier question laughable. If Lu Huai'an were to fall in love with Gu Nanzhi while waiting for her to return to the country, it would not only be an insult to Lu Huai'an's character but also an insult to her taste.

Liu Cuicui's words are trash; just take them as a joke and let them go.

As for the entanglement, she will ask Lu Huai'an clearly when he returns.

"nothing."

"Mom, I'll help you entertain the guests."

Wen Wanqing was momentarily stunned by the smile on Su Wantang's face. Her daughter-in-law was really beautiful; her family's "running pig" was getting a good deal.

The groom was nowhere to be seen, and everyone began to discuss it.

"Where's the groom? Why hasn't he come out yet? Did he run away from the wedding?"

"I heard that the family likes their daughter-in-law so much that they're forcing her to have a wedding."

"Really?"

"Authenticity guaranteed".

Huo Jun sat beside Huo Qing, listening to the surrounding discussions, and smiled with satisfaction.

That bitch Liu Cuicui really didn't lie to him this time. Lu Huai'an was absent. Let's see if she doesn't smear Lu Huai'an to death.

Su Wantang frowned. Everyone here today was a close friend or relative, so why was there such an obviously troublemaking voice? Who would believe that no one was up to something?

Wen Wanqing's complexion was also very bad.

When Su Wantang saw Huo Jun with a smile on his face, she understood and couldn't help but wonder how this violent maniac who was only good at bullying his own people could persuade others to help him cause trouble.

Just as she was about to speak, a voice, aged yet dignified, came from behind her.

"Did the army train you just so you could spread rumors and gossip?"

Huo Jun looked at Chen Ze, who had suddenly appeared, and wondered, "Who is this old man?"

The next second, Huo Qing pulled him up from the stool. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that everyone had stood up. Huo Jun's heart skipped a beat, and he had a bad feeling.

Su Wantang walked over with a smile and took Chen Ze's arm.

"Grandpa Chen, you're such a busy man, what brings you here?"

Chen Ze glanced at her with annoyance. This girl was cunning and shrewd, and her man wasn't exactly innocent either.

"I'll back you up."

“Deputy Regiment Commander Lu, you were carrying out a mission under military orders. How did it become a case of running away from a marriage in your mouths? All of you, get out here. I think you're just too idle. You should all be suspended and reflect on your actions.”

The group panicked instantly and betrayed Huo Jun.

"Old leader, it's not that we insist on saying it this way, but Huo Jun asked us to say a few words because of the kindness of former Chief Huo Qing. We thought it wouldn't be a problem."

Su Wantang was amused by Huo Jun's antics.

What a talent!

She went to see Huo Qing, only to find his face ashen and his whole body trembling with anger.

"Huo Jun, is what they said true?"
