"What?" Lu Huai'an sat up in shock. He felt a tearing sensation as soon as his wound was stitched up, but he didn't notice it at all.
Could it be... that the voice wasn't a hallucination?
Blood seeped through the white gauze at an alarming rate. Upon catching a glimpse of the vibrant color, Yang Bing pressed the emergency call button and stepped forward to support Lu Huai'an.
"Captain, you're injured, lie down first."
Lu Huai'an remained unmoved. He gripped Yang Bing's wrist tightly, his tone urgent and stern: "When did your sister-in-law arrive?"
Yang Bing was terrified by the terrifying, bloodshot look in Lu Huai'an's eyes. He didn't dare to breathe and honestly replied, "About an hour ago."
"Comrade Gu was also there at the time."
A mere dozen or so words struck Lu Huai'an's heart with a resounding thud, shattering his soul into pieces.
roll.
He actually told Tangtang to get lost...
Overwhelmed by heartache and guilt, he found it hard to breathe.
Lu Huai'an shoved Yang Bing aside, pulled off the IV drip, and blood instantly stained the back of his hand. He clutched his chest and strode out barefoot.
Yang Bing was surprised when Lu Huai'an suddenly pushed him away. His waist hit the corner of the bedside table, and the corner scraped against the ground, making a screeching sound.
Ignoring his own safety, Yang Bing immediately straightened up, chased after Lu Huai'an, and stopped him.
"Captain, you're still injured. If you need to find your wife, tell me where she is and I'll go find her."
Lu Huai'an's eyes hardened even more: "What did you say?"
Feeling uneasy under his gaze, Yang Bing belatedly realized that he might have said something wrong, and his lips pressed into a straight line.
Seeing his expression, Lu Huai'an grew increasingly uneasy and roared, "Speak!"
Yang Bing stammered, "Sister-in-law, sister-in-law... seems to be missing."
"Pfft." Lu Huai'an spat out a mouthful of blood, splattering it all over Yang Bing's face. He panicked.
"team leader--"
Lu Huai'an shook off Yang Bing's arm that was supporting him: "I'm going to find her."
Seeing that Lu Huai'an didn't take care of his health, Yang Bing's words also became tinged with anger.
"Captain, your wife is a grown woman. She wouldn't run around just because of a little jealousy. The doctor said you're still in the critical period and can't run around."
Lu Huai'an ignored Yang Bing and insisted on leaving: "Get out of my way."
"Captain, I won't just stand by and watch you lose your life!"
Lu Huai'an frowned at him, his tone resolute: "You want to fight me?"
"No...no, Captain, you can't—"
"Then let's fight!"
Just as Yang Bing was feeling his head grow bigger than twice its size, Wen Wanqing's angry voice rang out from behind him.
"Lu Huai'an! You think you're so tough? Lu Yuanyang, go fight him! If you kill him, it's your own fault!"
Lu Yuanyang: "..." Why is it on my account?
Never mind, I don't dare to ask.
"Mom! Tangtang is gone." Gravel rolled out of his throat, bringing with it warm, sticky blood.
Wen Wanqing rolled her eyes: "Now you're getting anxious? Where were you when you made Wan Tang angry?"
"What, are you planning to go to Wan Tang's place covered in injuries and play the victim? So you'll end up crippled and Wan Tang will be gossiped about for the rest of her life?"
Lu Huai'an was somewhat sobered up by the scolding. He could tell from Wen Wanqing's tone that Su Wantang was safe for the time being. He rubbed his throbbing temples and said, "Mom, I didn't."
Wen Wanqing coldly snorted, "You dare to try?"
He glanced at Lu Yuanyang and said, "What are you standing there for? Take your son back and call the doctor."
The storm has passed.
The stitches came undone, and the doctor stitched Lu Huai'an up again, giving him a long lecture on not moving around before leaving.
Yang Bing had been waiting outside the ward. When he saw the doctor come out, he was about to go in to see him when a nurse came over.
"Comrade Yang Bing, right? There's a comrade surnamed Gu who called looking for you."
Yang Bing glanced at Wen Wanqing and Lu Yuanyang, who were accompanying him in the ward, then turned and followed the nurse to the nurses' station to answer the phone.
"Comrade Yang, how is Brother Huai'an? I was worried that Brother Huai'an was emotionally agitated, so I specially notified Brother Huai'an's parents. I don't know if they can be of any help."
It turned out that Comrade Gu had notified them.
Comrade Gu is truly meticulous.
"Comrade Gu, we owe you so much this time. Otherwise, the captain would have gone to find his wife without a second thought. You don't know, the captain even vomited blood..."
He vomited blood.
Huai'an, do you love that capitalist's daughter that much? Are you willing to risk your life for her?
"Comrade Gu? Comrade Gu? Are you listening?"
"Yes, Comrade Yang, I'm just feeling a bit emotional, and I envy your wife for having such a good marriage."
Yang Bing suddenly blurted out, "Comrade Gu, aren't you married yet?"
"I...don't have a boyfriend yet."
It seemed to have struck a nerve with the girl, whose voice was soft and shy, making Yang Bing's heart warm.
His ears turned bright red: "Comrade Gu, I'm older than you. If you don't mind, you can call me Brother Yang."
Gu Nanzhi said gracefully, "Then Brother Yang, please don't call me Comrade Gu anymore, just call me Nanzhi."
"Nanzhi."
These two words seemed to have some kind of magic; the moment I uttered them, my heart skipped a beat.
The two started chatting again.
"Brother Yang, I'm sorry, I just lied to you. I saw your wife, but she didn't believe my explanation and even said she wants to divorce Brother Huai'an. I'm so scared..."
Yang Bing was shocked. He never expected Su Wantang to be such a jealous and unreasonable woman. At the same time, he felt that everything he had done for Lu Huai'an was not worth it.
He pursed his lips, about to say something, when suddenly several familiar figures squeezed into his field of vision. He opened his mouth, but no sound came out several times.
Lu Yuanyang and a man he didn't recognize were seen carrying Lu Huai'an's hospital bed, with Wen Wanqing holding up a name tag. The group hurriedly walked out.
