Chapter 25 Su Wantang hugged Lu Huai'an's strong waist and abdomen

soft.

Incredibly soft.

Lu Huai'an froze.

The next second, Su Wantang haphazardly stole the air from his mouth.

At the same time, she entwined her limbs even more tightly.

Lu Huai'an frowned. This couldn't go on; both of them would drown.

He decisively raised his blade and chopped at the back of Su Wantang's neck. Immediately afterward, Su Wantang's head tilted to the side, and Lu Huai'an supported her by placing her head on his shoulder.

Even though Su Wantang was unconscious, her will to live was strong. She wrapped her arms and legs tightly around Lu Huai'an, which greatly reduced the difficulty for Lu Huai'an to lift her to the surface.

A few minutes later, Lu Huai'an, his face pale and veins bulging on his forehead, emerged from the water with Su Wantang.

Lu Huai'an took a deep breath, but did not relax.

He looked around at the murky water, searching for something suspended in the air to cling to.

Suddenly, a rectangular plank behind him caught his attention. He swam against the current with Su Wantang, struggling to get across.

Upon closer inspection, it was a courtyard gate that had been washed away by the flood.

It's not too big or too small; it can comfortably accommodate one person lying down.

With a long arm outstretched, Lu Huai'an pulled the courtyard gate over, pressing it down with his left elbow to prevent it from being swept away, while his right hand pulled on Su Wantang's arm, preparing to put her on it.

Unexpectedly, after Lu Huai'an spent a lot of time tearing off one arm, when he turned to tear off the other arm, the arm he had just torn off came back on, and it was even tighter than before.

"Cough cough." Lu Huai'an's breathing was a little labored, but he still soothed her gently, "Wan Tang...it's me, Lu Huai'an...loosen your grip a little, let me put you up...that way you'll be safe..."

In her dazed state, Su Wantang only felt a very noisy person next to her, as annoying as a fly...

Wait...she was pushed...someone? Was she saved?

Su Wantang tried to open her eyes, but it felt like a thousand-pound stone was pressing on her eyelids. She used all her strength to only manage to open them a crack. Through her blurry vision, she caught a glimpse of the man's chin.

We're saved.

With her tense body relaxed, Su Wantang let go of her hand.

Lu Huai'an seized the opportunity and got Su Wantang onto the floating platform.

After settling Su Wantang in, Lu Huai'an wanted to find a piece of driftwood, but either there wasn't any, or he would have to swim to another place.

The rain was still falling, and the river was swift. Su Wantang was still unconscious, so Lu Huai'an dared not take any risks.

So he moved Su Wantang back two inches and made her lean on her arms to make room in the space.

Lightning flashed and thunder roared, dark clouds gathered, and heavy rain pelted his face, blurring his vision. But Lu Huai'an dared not relax for a moment. His sharp eyes searched tirelessly for a suitable foothold within his limited field of vision.

"In Daohua Village, there are a total of 125 people. Apart from three missing, all the rest have been rescued and transferred. In this mission, 100 soldiers were wounded, but no one died," Huo Jun reported to Su Zhen.

"good."

"Commander, this is what I should do."

Knock knock knock.

A loud "Report!" interrupted their conversation.

"In Xinghua Village, a total of 331 people have been rescued and transferred. 120 soldiers were wounded and 2 are missing in this mission."

Upon hearing this, Huo Jun, who had just been gloating over his performance, immediately turned pale.

Xinghua Village?

Isn't that the village that the kid from Huai'an led the rescue team to?

Looking at Zhou Qing returning, Li Lei suddenly had a bad feeling.

"Where is your land force?"

"Battalion Commander Lu and his wife have fallen into the flood. Please order a rescue operation."

Huo Jun's expression softened slightly, and he retorted sharply, "Commander, I think this is inappropriate."

"Leaving aside where the flood has swept the people away to, and whether the two are still alive, given the current conditions outside, it would be irresponsible to let the soldiers risk their own lives to rescue people in the vast flood."

Li Lei disagreed, saying, "Are we just going to stand by and watch a good soldier die because he can't get timely rescue? That would be too disheartening."

"Platoon Leader Huo, we are willing to search for Battalion Commander Lu," the young soldier said, following closely behind Li Lei.

"Without Battalion Commander Lu and his wife, we and the villagers would not have been able to retreat safely to a safe location."

"That's just your opinion, and it doesn't represent every soldier," Huo Jun disagreed.

Zhou Qing stared at Huo Jun with bloodshot eyes.

But Huo Jun didn't care about any of that.

Since Lu Huai'an is always one step ahead of him and he has been given a golden opportunity, then he should just die!

"Commander, I am also heartbroken by the disappearance of Battalion Commander Lu, but Battalion Commander Lu's life is precious, and so are the lives of all the soldiers."

Zhou Qing chimed in, "Commander, the Lu Battalion is waiting for us to rescue them. If we don't go, we'll be sending them to their deaths!"

Li Lei: "Commander, I agree to the rescue."

"But we can't do it for Battalion Commander Lu—"

"Enough!"

The Lu family had driven him to this godforsaken place. They had originally planned to marry Yue'er there and then coax Lu Huai'an back to Beijing, but they never expected Lu Huai'an to marry a capitalist. So be it...

"Pass on my order: as soon as the rain stops, immediately organize a rescue operation."

"Commander!" the young soldier shouted.

"This is a military order!"

"No one is allowed to act on their own; otherwise, they will be subject to military law!"

The rain is still falling.

After a night, Lu Huai'an, whose strength was completely exhausted, finally closed his eyes.

After an unknown amount of time, a coughing sound came from the wooden board.

Su Wantang woke up after a few moments of tossing and turning.

She first checked her own physical condition, and then quickly scanned her surroundings.
