Chapter 46 Wan Tang, don't be afraid, Comrade Lu and I are here.

Wen Wanqing was stunned by Lu Huai'an's scolding.

Regardless of whether she is the mother-in-law or not, it is not unreasonable for Su Wantang, as the daughter-in-law, to cook a meal for her.

Besides, she had no objection, and Su Wantang had no objection either. What was that bastard doing, yelling like that?

"Lu Huai'an, your mother's actions are none of your business!"

"Mom, I don't care what you do, but you can't bully my wife!"

Wen Wanqing's face turned pale instantly, and she trembled with anger.

Upon hearing the noise, Su Wantang quickly turned off the fire, scooped the noodles into cold water, and hurriedly ran out.

"Which eye of yours saw me bullying your wife?"

"Two eyes!"

Wen Wanqing rolled her eyes in anger.

Even Su Wantang, who had just run out, couldn't help but curl her lips when she heard these words.

My thoughts drifted away.

"You're Su Wantang?"

Su Wantang, who was so nervous that she needed to urinate, had just finished using the restroom when Wen Wanqing, who was using a cane, called out to her.

Isn't this the woman she just helped up?

Is he trying to extort money from her?

Su Wantang wasn't afraid, after all, so many people were watching.

"I am."

"I am Lu Huai'an's mother!"

One sentence left Su Wantang speechless.

"What are you standing there for? Are you stupid? Take me home! Cook me a meal!"

From their very first meeting, Su Wantang felt that her mother-in-law was not an easy person to get along with!

But since the hospital is a public place, Su Wantang was afraid that Wen Wanqing would make a scene, so she had no choice but to reply, "I'll go ask for leave."

After leaving the hospital, Su Wantang led Wen Wanqing towards the county town.

Is she trying to assert her authority as a mother-in-law by cooking for her?

Su Wantang was not going to cooperate. She planned to take Wen Wanqing directly to the state-run restaurant. This way, she wouldn't mistreat Wen Wanqing, and if Wen Wanqing made a fuss later, she would have her own way of dealing with it.

"You're riding the wrong way! This isn't the way to the family compound!"

Before Su Wantang could speak, Wen Wanqing said, "You weren't scared out of your wits when you saw me, were you? How did you get on the operating table if you're so timid?"

Wen Wanqing's tone was impolite, and Su Wantang would not stoop to cater to this mother-in-law who found fault with her the moment they met.

"The patients on the operating table are all under anesthesia, so they are very quiet and won't startle like country bumpkins who have never seen the world before!"

"You called me... a bumpkin?" Wen Wanqing was stunned, and her words became somewhat incoherent.

Wen Wanqing has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for many years, and she is always the one who uses her wit and verbal skills to shut others up, rarely being shut up by others.

Aside from the two people at home, they're as stubborn as mules, always sticking to their own ideas.

This is the first time an outsider has spoken to her like this! And it's a veiled insult, a sarcastic remark directed at her!

But strangely enough, she found this feeling quite nice.

"I didn't say that, but if you insist on thinking that way, there's nothing I can do!"

She snorted, "Sharp-tongued!"

"Thank you for the compliment. I know you don't have it, so there's no need to be envious or feel inferior."

"Who envies you? Envy that you're a capitalist's daughter?"

The moment those words were spoken, the atmosphere froze.

Wen Wanqing also noticed something was wrong, but she didn't take it seriously or think there was anything wrong with it, as it was an undeniable fact.

Denying, scorning, and hating facts is useless. The only thing that matters is strengthening yourself and showing your power to others. So what if she's a capitalist's daughter? I'm still better than you! I live a wonderful life!

"Heh..." Su Wantang scoffed lightly, "The mother-in-law of a pampered capitalist's daughter! We're even!"

Wen Wanqing's eyes lit up; she was clearly very satisfied with Su Wantang's reaction.

She scoffed, "Aren't you going to turn around?"

"No, let's eat at the state-run restaurant."

Wen Wanqing's eyes widened: "It's so far from the county town. By the time you get there, I'll be starving."

"I can tell you with absolute certainty, you won't starve! At most, you'll get so hungry at the restaurant that you won't feel hungry anymore!"

So you weren't the one starving! How miserable you must be!

Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind.

"You don't think I'm using cooking to set rules for you, do you?"

Su Wantang replied matter-of-factly, "Isn't that right?"

Wen Wanqing felt mocked and said, "What do you mean? The Qing Dynasty is long gone! I may dislike you, but I wouldn't resort to the methods of a wicked mother-in-law to torment you."

"I was really hungry, but I don't know how to cook."

With her frank and straightforward words, Su Wantang became even more suspicious of Wen Wanqing, this "wicked mother-in-law."

Did she misunderstand?

Wen Wanqing is a straightforward person.

"We didn't buy any meat or vegetables at home."

Wen Wanqing frowned: "Do you have noodles?"

"have."

"Please make me some noodles."

Seeing that Wen Wanqing didn't seem like she was up to any trouble, and not wanting to bother riding a long distance, Su Wantang turned her bike around and rode towards the family compound.

"By the way, you can cook, right?"

"improvise."

"So-so"? It's probably just edible, right?

But then again, Su Wantang was, after all, a pampered young lady from a capitalist family, so this is just making do...

Oh well, she was hungry after all.

She didn't ask for much; she just wanted Su Wantang to cook the noodles properly.

Su Wantang had no idea that Wen Wanqing was having so much going on in her mind. She didn't just make noodles; instead, she went to the cafeteria and asked the chef to buy a bunch of green vegetables.

Because of this, she didn't go home immediately, thus missing Lu Huai'an who was returning to his unit.

Back home, Wen Wanqing was just as she had said, without any complaints, except that she would occasionally crane her neck to look into the kitchen, and she did look very hungry.

"Comrade Lu, slow down, I can't catch up with you!"

Su Yue pushed her bicycle into the courtyard, and her sudden shrill voice pulled Su Wantang back from her memories.
