"Enough!"
Huai'an will be fine.
Hearing Lu Yuanyang's furious growl, Yu Manfan looked at Su Wantang with schadenfreude.
That brat, trying to fight her?
Still too inexperienced.
"Manfan, you can go and get back to work."
Yu Manfan paused for a moment, a hint of resentment flashing deep in her eyes.
"Then I'll go out first. The child is young, so don't disturb her. Talk to her nicely. It's not a big deal," Yu Manfan said understandingly.
However, once she left the ward, her kind expression suddenly turned cold.
She's just a capitalist's daughter, isn't she?
That Wen Wanqing is protected! Yuan Yang is also protected! What's so good about that?
How can anyone compare to their Tingting?
but...
She remembered hearing Wen Wanqing say that the marriage was arranged by Old Master Lu, who forced Huai'an to agree.
Thinking of something, Yu Manfan curled the corners of her lips into a smile.
"Dad, I—"
Lu Yuanyang waved his hand to interrupt Su Wantang.
"Your Aunt Yu is just anxious and doesn't mean any harm. Dad knows you've been working hard. There's an empty bed next to you, so go and rest for a while. I'll stay here and watch over you."
Su Wantang disagreed that Yu Manfan meant no harm, but she did not argue with Lu Yuanyang about it.
Lu Yuanyang's trust in her is enough.
Not long after lying in bed, Su Wantang was awakened by voices.
It was Dr. Gu who came to check on the patients.
Seeing the pulse was noticeably stronger, Old Gu's eyes lit up, and he pushed the unconscious Lu Huai'an to do some more tests.
"Huai'an, this kid is really lucky."
Upon hearing his words, Su Wantang and Lu Yuanyang instantly became excited, their eyes widening as they eagerly awaited what he would say next.
Old Gu didn't keep you in suspense: "Huai'an's physical functions are recovering better than I expected, so there's no danger to his life anymore. He should wake up in the next couple of days."
What Old Master Gu didn't say was that he suspected Lu Huai'an had taken some life-saving medicine, and that such a level of recovery couldn't have been achieved overnight.
Considering the Lu family's background, he didn't find it strange at all.
"Previously, he was shot in the leg. Although the bullet has been removed through surgery, the vein was damaged, and he may have to use crutches to walk in the future."
Lu Yuanyang was stunned for a moment, a look of deep sorrow flashing across his eyes, but he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's good that you're alive!"
Leg injury?
What a coincidence!
Su Wantang clenched her fists. She was determined to make Huai'an stand up again, just like before.
After Old Master Gu left, only Lu Yuanyang and Su Wantang remained in the ward.
Upon learning that Lu Huai'an was out of danger, Lu Yuanyang did not linger. After saying goodbye to Su Wantang, he left.
Two nights later, Lu Huai'an twitched his knuckles and slowly opened his tightly closed eyes.
Seeing Su Wantang slumped over the headboard, Lu Huai'an frowned.
I still let her know that I was worried.
He struggled to lift his arm, wanting to cover Su Wantang with a blanket, but accidentally woke her from her light sleep.
Su Wantang thought she was dreaming and blinked twice.
"Wantang, did I wake you up?"
The tears that had been held back for so long suddenly flowed out like a flood.
"Don't cry."
Lu Huai'an reached out his finger and frantically and clumsily wiped away the tear stains from the corner of Su Wantang's eyes.
"I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"
"Lu Huai'an, you bastard."
Su Wantang clenched her fist and gently punched Lu Huai'an.
"They promised to come back safely, but... almost..."
Knowing that Su Yue had been taken to the police station, Su Zhen was indeed up to no good, but given the Lu family's status, he couldn't make his intentions too obvious.
He simply assigned Lu Huai'an the most dangerous task within reasonable regulations.
Lu Huai'an had a way to break the deadlock, but he remembered Wen Wanqing's words.
Danger can also represent an opportunity for promotion.
He didn't want outsiders to say that Su Wantang was the reason he couldn't get promoted.
A man's honor comes from fighting and fighting on the battlefield, not from blaming his wife.
Because of this, Lu Huai'an, who was feeling uneasy, didn't know how to start the conversation, so he simply clutched his chest and cried out in pain, which startled Su Wantang so much that she immediately got up and pulled open her clothes to check.
"Wantang, I'm fine." Lu Huai'an quickly grabbed Su Wantang's hand.
"Are you really alright?"
"fine."
"Stop crying, it's my fault."
Seeing Lu Huai'an's clumsy attempts to comfort people, Su Wantang couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Who's crying? I just got sand in my eyes."
"Um."
Lu Huai'an responded and gently wiped away the tear stains from the corners of Su Wantang's eyes, one by one.
"Lu Huai'an".
Su Wantang stared intently at Lu Huai'an and said very seriously.
"If you go to the battlefield in the future, you have to crawl back to the battlefield, or I'll make you a cuckold and your future daughters and sons call other people 'Dad'."
Lu Huai'an's face darkened.
Don't even think about it!
"Then promise me that no matter what, you'll come back alive."
Lu Huai'an's heart softened: "Okay."
"Wantang, if that day ever comes..."
Su Wantang covered Lu Huai'an's mouth: "Pah, pah, pah, don't talk nonsense."
Lu Huai'an held her hand: "It's good that you're married. I can't bear to see you all alone. Just don't bring her with you when we go to the grave. She's an eyesore to me."
"Lu Huai'an!"
Su Wantang turned around and walked out of the house in anger.
He took two steps, then turned back.
Why is she arguing with an injured person?
Huai'an.
Seeing Lu Huai'an struggling to get out of bed, Su Wantang immediately felt guilty.
"It's my fault."
"And are you stupid? Your injuries haven't even healed, why are you getting out of bed?"
