Chapter 189 Visiting Li Sisi's Home

Li Sisi went to the pharmacy to find Su Wantang, inviting her to her home for dinner.

The matter of the frostbite ointment was more urgent, so Su Wantang and Li Sisi agreed that Su Wantang would go to the compound to see her when she was less busy in a few days.

Now that she had some free time, she called to ask if Li Sisi was home, and Su Wantang brought some gifts and went to her door.

"Sister Wantang."

Before Su Wantang even reached the entrance of the new military compound, a large red butterfly fluttered its wings and flew towards her.

She was embraced tightly, paused for two seconds, and said softly, "Okay, okay, it's cold outside, let's go inside first."

Li Sisi let go of Su Wantang and pouted, saying, "Sister Wantang, it's enough that you came. Why did you bring a gift? Are you being too polite with me?"

"There's no reason to come empty-handed."

Unable to argue with Su Wantang, Li Sisi snatched the gifts from her hands.

The touch of fingertips sent a cool sensation through her skin, suppressing the 'rejection' that Su Wantang was about to utter.

"Sisi, you didn't just wait for me at the door after I finished the call, did you?"

Li Sisi chuckled: "I'm afraid you won't be able to get in and you'll get cold."

"Are you stupid? I can have the security guard at the gate call you."

"I was in a hurry and forgot."

"Don't do that again next time."

"good."

After replying, Li Sisi bent down to snatch the gift that Su Wantang was carrying in her other hand, but Su Wantang dodged her.

"I'll carry these."

Li Sisi wanted to say something, but Su Wantang interrupted her.

"Alright, hurry up and get into the hospital, don't keep the aunt waiting."

Soon, they arrived at the Li family's house.

Su Wantang was somewhat surprised to find Li Guoliang at home as well.

The military does not give everyone a holiday. Even on New Year's Eve, soldiers take turns to visit their families. Soldiers who are not on duty can take a short break and participate in cultural and recreational activities organized by the military. However, most soldiers have to stay behind for daily training to maintain a state of combat readiness.

"Hello, Uncle, I am Sisi's friend, Su Wantang."

Li Guoliang, true to his name, has a square face and a serious demeanor, but he is not difficult to get along with.

He said in a serious tone, "My Sisi is naughty, so I'll have to trouble you to take good care of her on a daily basis."

"I'll be on duty at the military base during the Chinese New Year, so I'll give you this New Year's red envelope first."

Su Wantang was stunned.

She's so old now, she's way past the age of receiving red envelopes.

Su Wantang froze, but Li Sisi didn't. She quickly snatched the red envelope, stuffed it into Su Wantang's pocket, and whispered in her ear.

“This money was prepared by my mom. I can’t leave it for my dad. My mom said that men who have secret stashes of money will go bad.”

Whether it was her imagination or not, Su Wantang felt that there was a slight crack on Li Guoliang's square face.

Su Wantang took out the red envelope but politely declined, saying, "Uncle, I'm already married, this red envelope..."

"Take it. It's not much money, but it's for good luck. May you have a peaceful and safe new year. Sisi doesn't have many friends, but her friends are like daughters to us. Whether a daughter is married or not, she is always the apple of her parents' eye."

Having said that, Su Wantang did not refuse again.

Deep down, she couldn't help but feel envious. Before coming here, Su Wantang had wondered what kind of family would raise a daughter with Sisi's personality. Now that she was here, she seemed to suddenly understand.

"You two play." Li Guoliang turned and went back into the house, leaving the space to the two little girls, Su Wantang and Li Sisi.

Li Sisi led Su Wantang into her room and chatted with her non-stop. Su Wantang listened quietly, occasionally chiming in, her smile never fading.

After chatting for a while, Tang Qing came over to call the two of them to have lunch.

Su Wantang belatedly realized that she hadn't greeted Tang Qing, and felt guilty. She quickly said, "Auntie, I was so busy chatting with Sisi that I forgot to help you."

"You silly child, how can you make a guest do the work? Sit down quickly."

Tang Qing gently pressed Su Wantang down onto the stool, then turned and said in a different tone, "Li Sisi, what are you standing there for? Go into the kitchen and bring out the dishes."

Li Sisi pouted: "Oh..."

Su Wantang couldn't help but chuckle as she watched from the side.

The meal was very plentiful, with six dishes in total, including braised pork, sweet and sour fish, and egg and cauliflower soup.

Everyone enjoyed the meal.

After dinner, while Su Wantang and Li Sisi were chatting in the room, Tang Qing knocked on the door and came in.

Tang Qing is straightforward and says what she thinks directly.

"Wantang, your aunt wants to discuss something with you. If you think it's okay, then let's give it a try. If not, don't worry about it, just tell your aunt directly."

"Mom! What's wrong? Why didn't you tell me first?" Li Sisi said unhappily.

Tang Qing poked Li Sisi's forehead and said disdainfully, "Let me tell you, with your loudspeaker, wouldn't you be shouting to everyone in the compound?"

Li Sisi was speechless. She grabbed Su Wantang's hand and said seriously, "No matter what my mom says, we'll talk about our own things. If you don't like it, then don't pay attention to my mom. We'll play together secretly in private."

Tang Qing: "......" That brat, I was listening right here!

"good."

Su Wantang wasn't confused; she could tell that the person who invited her over today was genuinely there to discuss something.

However, she did not feel displeased; she appreciated the Li family's good intentions.

She asked, "Auntie, what do you want to discuss with me?"

"Aunt Sisi works at a department store and is a junior manager in her department, so she has a little bit of power. Last time, Sisi bought me a whitening cream, and after using it for a few days, she noticed it when I went to her aunt's house. She wanted to ask you if you could supply it to her department store, because she thinks this product can make money."

This was a good way to make money, so Su Wantang naturally agreed.

She gave him her asking price, and he shipped the goods, making a profit of six percent for her and four percent for the department store.
