Chapter 151 Fu Yucheng seems to be in trouble
Yun Tangyin tugged at his arm and shook it: "I'll wait for you at the foot of the mountain. It's more comfortable than sitting at home."
She stuffed a bamboo whistle into his pocket and said, "Just blow it when you have something to say. It saves energy than shouting."
Fu Yucheng smiled while holding the bamboo whistle: "I know, this is more effective than a bugle."
He suddenly stuffed a peace amulet into her hand and said, "Mom prayed for it, it's more effective than anything else, keep it safe."
The next morning, Fu Yucheng was about to go out with a bamboo basket on his back. Yun Tangyin stuffed two vegetable dumplings into his bag and said, "It'll be a snack for lunch."
She tied a red string around his waist and said, "It's more effective than a talisman. The sooner you go, the sooner you'll be back."
Fu Yucheng pinched her cheek and said, "I'll be back before sunset, more accurate than a clock."
The bamboo basket swayed out of the door, and the red rope swayed into a thin line in the morning light.
Song Yushuang was drying beans on a bamboo plate and said to Yun Tangyin with a smile, "He's been to the back mountain to pick them many times. He knows them better than anyone else. Don't worry."
Yun Tangyin nodded while sewing the sole of her shoe, but the stitches were three times denser than usual.
When the sun climbed to the top of the bamboo, she looked towards the gate of the courtyard eight times. The path was empty, not even a stray dog.
"It's time to pick the sour jujubes," Yuxia said, carrying a bamboo sieve to dry the sesame seeds. "The sour jujubes on the back mountain grow densely and are harder to pick than elsewhere. It will be back later."
She stuffed a piece of sesame candy into Yun Tangyin's hand and said, "Sweetness calms the nerves, it's better than thinking about it."
Yun Tangyin held the candy in her mouth, but the tip of her tongue felt bitter.
As the sun set, the road outside the bamboo fence was still empty. She suddenly stood up and said, "I'll go to the mountain pass and wait for him."
Song Yushuang quickly grabbed her and said, "The mountain road is slippery. You'll just cause more trouble if you go there."
She glanced in the direction of Yuanshan's house and said, "Let Yuanzheng and Yuanshan go look for it. They're better than you and me."
Fu Yuanzheng had just walked in carrying a hoe. When he heard that Fu Yucheng hadn't returned, he immediately ran to the bamboo workshop: "I'll take a flashlight with me. It's brighter than a lantern."
Yu Xia chased him out and stuffed a sickle into his bag, "Cutting branches to clear a path is better than using your bare hands."
Yun Tangyin also stuffed a bamboo whistle into Fu Yuanzheng's hand: "Just answer when you hear him blow the whistle. It's easier than shouting."
But her fingertips were shaking more violently than leaves in the autumn wind.
When it was getting dark, Fu Yuanzheng came back with a few people. The bamboo basket was empty and their trouser legs were covered with mud.
"I've searched the back mountain for most of the way," he said, wiping the sweat off his face. "I walked two miles longer than usual, but I didn't see anyone."
Yun Tangyin's face turned pale, colder than the moonlight in the yard.
Song Yushuang stuffed a candy into her mouth and said, "Don't panic. He might be stopping at someone's house. Don't worry."
Even so, his voice was shaking like a sieve.
Yu Xia ran to the kitchen: "I'll make a pot of ginger soup, which is better than anything else to warm the body. I'll wait for him to drink it when he comes back."
The clinking sound of the spoon hitting the bottom of the pot was more frightening than a knock on the heart.
At three o'clock in the morning, Yun Tangyin sat on the doorstep, holding the bamboo pillow woven by Fu Yucheng, her eyes rounder than copper bells.
Suddenly there was a sound of bamboo branches, and she stood up suddenly, not feeling any pain when her knees hit the bamboo stool.
"It's me." Fu Yucheng's voice emerged from the shadows, panting. "We encountered a landslide on the road, so we had to take a long detour. We're later than expected."
Yun Tangyin rushed over and hugged him. Feeling the scratches on his arms, her tears flowed more fiercely than beads that had broken off the string. "Why did you come back just now?! You...you scared me to death!"
Fu Yucheng held her in his arms, and the sour dates in the bamboo basket rolled out, red as blood: "I picked some big ones, they are sweeter than last time."
He suddenly stuffed a wild Ganoderma into her hand and said, "Pick this when you see it. It's more nutritious than ginseng. I'll make soup for you."
Song Yushuang came out and saw his arm bleeding. Her eyes immediately turned red: "You're injured like this and you're still thinking about Suanzao!"
She pressed a bottle of ointment into his hand and said, "It's better than the medicine for wounds in town. Apply it quickly."
Yu Xia brought out the ginger soup, her hands shaking even more than Yun Tangyin's: "Drink it quickly, it drives away the cold better than anything else."
Seeing that he was drinking too fast, she stuffed another piece of brown sugar into his mouth and said, "Slow down, no one will grab it."
After Fu Yucheng finished drinking the ginger soup, he suddenly pulled out a small bamboo toy from his arms. It was a little bamboo rabbit with red ropes tied around its ears. "I made this for you. It took more time than the sour dates. I made it while I was resting on the road."
Yun Tangyin pinched the little rabbit, tears falling on her bamboo ears: "Don't go there anymore."
Fu Yucheng just smiled and stuffed a sour date into her mouth: "Is it sweet? Sweeter than anything else."
He snuggled into her arms and said, "I won't dare to be late again. Your tears are more frightening than military orders."
The bamboo wind chimes swayed in the night, bringing with them the cool air from the mountains, but they couldn't blow away the warmth that filled the yard.
Yun Tangyin touched the gauze on his arm and suddenly felt that these days were like the bamboo utensils he had woven. They looked solid, but in fact they were full of thin branches that made people worry. If they were not careful, they would make people feel nervous.
The next morning, just as Fu Yucheng was about to sit up, Yun Tangyin held him down: "Lying down and recuperating is better than anything else."
She stuffed a candied fruit into his mouth and said, "Sweet healing is better than bitter medicine."
Fu Yucheng smiled while pinching the candied fruit: "You staying by my side is more effective than any medicine."
He suddenly stuffed something into her hand and said, "I made a bracelet out of the sour jujube seeds I picked yesterday. It's lighter than silver. Wear it for fun."
Yun Tangyin touched the jujube kernel bracelet and suddenly blew on his arm: "Get well soon, it's better than anything else."
The sunlight shone through the bamboo window, casting a warm spot of light on his wound, just like her heart, which had been hanging in the air all night, finally settled down.
He suddenly touched the headboard and said, "I saw some mint when I was picking sour dates yesterday. They're fresher than the ones in the yard. I made you a medicine bag. The smell of it is more refreshing than anything else."
Yun Tangyin held the mint bag to her nose, and the cool air penetrated her lungs, more comfortable than rock sugar water. "It's even better than the mint ointment from the pharmacy in town."
She stuffed a piece of soft cake into his mouth, "It was steamed by my second sister-in-law."
Fu Yuanzheng walked in carrying a hoe. Seeing Fu Yucheng leaning against the head of the bed, he smiled and said, "I heard that you have become a key protected person? Even more precious than a pregnant woman like Yinyin."
He placed a bundle of herbs on the table. "I picked some hemostatic herbs for you. I'll mash them into a paste and apply it on you now."
Yun Tangyin stuffed a piece of brown sugar into Fu Yuanzheng's hand and said, "Adding some sweetness to the herbs is better than making them bitter."
She suddenly remembered that there were wild chestnuts in Fu Yucheng's bamboo basket yesterday. "These chestnuts are quite plump. I'll make chestnut porridge for you."
Fu Yucheng quickly pulled her back: "Sit down and rest, it's better than anything else."
He winked at Fu Yuanzheng and said, "Brother, please come and help me, it's better than Yinyin doing it herself."
Yu Xia came in carrying a bamboo basket. Seeing Yun Tangyin about to stand up, she immediately held her down and said, "I'll do it, I'll do it. You sit back and give the orders."
She poured some millet into the pot, "It's more nourishing than plain porridge. Ah Cheng is injured and needs to be healed."
Song Yushuang was drying peanuts in a bamboo sieve, peeking into the house with a smile: "These chestnuts are a wild variety from the back mountain, Yinyin should eat some too."
As she spoke, she stuffed a handful of fried peanuts into Yun Tangyin's hand, "They're crispy and more fragrant than boiled ones."
Yun Tangyin peeled some peanuts and put them into Fu Yucheng's mouth: "You should eat some too. It's better than just drinking porridge."
Seeing that the herbal mud on his arm was almost dry, I quickly wet the cotton cloth with warm water and said, "Wipe it slowly, it's more comfortable than scratching it hard."
