Chapter 154: Finally It’s Okay
Fu Yucheng snorted as his nose was pinched: "Stop talking, stop talking. Our child is a little tiger, stronger than the tiger cubs in the mountains."
He stuffed a piece of candy into Yun Tangyin's hand and said, "Is it sweet? It's smoother than malt sugar. It will also make our little tiger's mouth sweet."
Yun Tangyin smiled sweetly: "You are the only one who has a sweet mouth."
Suddenly, I felt the gauze on his arm. "Shouldn't it be time to change the dressing tomorrow? Apply two more layers of ointment than last time. It will heal faster."
Fu Yucheng rubbed against her arms: "Having you change the medicine for me is more effective than any ointment."
Suddenly, I remembered something. "Oh, right, I made a small bamboo medicine box. It's lighter than the wooden one, perfect for storing your morning sickness medicine. It's also easy to find."
There was a small lotus flower carved on the medicine box. Yun Tangyin opened it and saw that it was divided into several small compartments. "It's even more exquisite than the ones I bought in town. You really have an amazing hand."
She stuffed a plum into his mouth. "Is it sour? It's better than sugar."
The next morning, Yun Tangyin was about to change Fu Yucheng's dressing when he grabbed her wrist.
Yun Tangyin tapped his arm: "I'm changing the dressing. I'm more distracted than anyone else."
Seeing him stretch out his arms obediently, she couldn't help but stuff a red date into his mouth, "Is it sweet?"
Song Yushuang came in with a bamboo tray with freshly boiled eggs on it: "Eat it quickly. Boiled eggs can reduce swelling. It's more effective than ointment."
She also stuffed one into Yun Tangyin's hand and said, "You should also roll your legs. It's better than sitting all the time."
Fu Yucheng rolled the egg onto Yun Tangyin's legs: "I'll roll it for you. It's easier than doing it yourself."
The egg slowly turned on her lap, warm as spring sunshine.
Yun Tangyin rolled an egg on his arm and said, "You need to reduce the swelling, it's better than just relying on ointment."
She suddenly stuffed a bag of tangerine peel candies into his pocket and said, "Put one in your mouth when you change the medicine later."
At lunchtime, Yuxia came in with a bamboo lunch box containing a plate of steamed yam. "Eat it quickly, Ah Cheng! It's made with honey, so it's softer than fried yam and will heal your wound."
She also put a piece into Yun Tangyin's bowl and said, "You should have some too. It's more refreshing than always eating meat."
Fu Yucheng was about to put the yam into Yun Tangyin's bowl when she held his chopsticks down: "You're injured, so eat more. I can reach it."
She put a piece of pork ribs into his bowl and said, "This is calcium supplement."
Yu Xia covered her mouth and laughed: "You two are pushing each other."
Then he added another spoonful of soup to Fu Yucheng's bowl and said, "Drink more, it's better than anything else."
In the afternoon, Fu Yucheng was leaning against the headboard weaving a bamboo basket while Yun Tangyin was sitting beside him embroidering a baby hat. Suddenly, they heard a rustling sound coming from the basket. Looking down, they saw a little bamboo rabbit lying inside. "When did you weave this? It's even more exquisite than the last one."
Fu Yucheng stuffed the little rabbit into her hand: "It's better to make it while you're in school than to have nothing to do."
He put a small bamboo rat in the bamboo basket and said, "Give it to our child as a toy. It's sturdier than a stuffed animal and won't break if dropped."
Yun Tangyin pinched the bamboo rat and laughed, "Have you woven every animal in the mountains? It's really going to become a zoo."
She stuffed a piece of pumpkin pie into his mouth. "It's hot, so it's sweeter than cold."
Fu Yucheng chewed the cake and said, "When I get better, I'll weave you a bamboo screen with flowers and plants carved on it. It's more beautiful than a cloth curtain and can also block the sun."
Yun Tangyin shook her head: "No need to bother with that. Having you by my side is better than anything else."
She put a piece of thread in his hand and said, "Help me thread the needle."
In the evening, Fu Yuanshan came in carrying a small bamboo wooden horse: "I made it for the children, it's perfect for rocking and playing."
At dinner, Fu Yucheng poured a bowl of corn porridge into Yun Tangyin's bowl: "This corn is newly harvested, it is more fragrant than the old one, you should drink more."
Fu Yucheng quickly ate it. Song Yushuang looked at them and smiled, "Your life is sweeter than a honey pot. I'm happy just looking at it."
She stuffed a mooncake into Yun Tangyin's hand and said, "It's freshly made. It's more filling than last year's. Try it."
That night, Yun Tangyin changed Fu Yucheng's dressing. Seeing that the wound had almost healed, she breathed a sigh of relief: "The gauze can be removed tomorrow. It's faster than expected."
She applied ointment to his arm. "This is the last time."
Fu Yucheng snuggled into her arms and said, "Once the bandage is removed, I can hold you properly."
The next morning, as soon as Fu Yucheng removed the gauze, he hugged Yun Tangyin and said, "I can finally hug you. It's more comfortable than anything else."
He stuffed a small bamboo basket into her hand and said, "Come on, let's go to the yard to bask in the sun. It's better than staying indoors."
Yun Tangyin was hugged by him and laughed: "Slow down, you are even crazier than before you were injured."
She stuffed a piece of sesame candy into his pocket and said, "Eat it while you walk."
The sun in the courtyard was warm. Fu Yucheng sat on a bamboo stool. Yun Tangyin leaned against his chest, playing with a bamboo butterfly in her hand. Suddenly, she said, "Although these days of recuperation are boring, they are sweeter than any other time."
Fu Yucheng lowered his head and kissed her on the forehead: "As long as you are here, it is sweeter than any other day."
He stuffed a small bamboo rattle into her hand and said, "Listen."
The sound of the rattle echoed in the yard, mixed with the soft sound of bamboo wind chimes, like an endless sweet song, making the days in the yard as sweet as honey.
As soon as the rattle sounded, Fu Yuan came into the yard carrying a hoe. Seeing the two of them cuddling in the yard, he deliberately coughed twice: "Haven't you had enough sun? You crave warmth more than a newly hatched chick."
He poured some freshly picked vegetables into the bamboo basket. "They're freshly picked from the fields, and they're more delicious than the ones from the supply and marketing cooperative. I'll make some vegetable and tofu soup for Yinyin. It's better than just drinking meat soup all the time."
Yun Tangyin stood up with a red face: "Brother, you're here just in time. I'll go pick some coriander, it's more fragrant than just chopped green onions."
Fu Yucheng quickly grabbed her and said, "Sit still, you can grab the job better than anyone else."
He raised his chin towards Fu Yuanzheng and said, "Brother, go pick it up. You're faster than Yinyin."
Fu Yuanzheng walked towards the vegetable garden with a smile: "You are the only one who spoils her, like an old hen protecting her chicks."
Song Yushuang was drying soybeans in a bamboo sieve while watching Fu Yucheng massaging Yun Tangyin's legs. "Your arms are just sitting there, aren't they?"
She stuffed a handful of roasted melon seeds into Yun Tangyin's hand and said, "Cracking them for fun is better than sitting there and staring blankly."
Yun Tangyin fed a melon seed into Fu Yucheng's mouth: "You eat it too."
At night, Yun Tangyin leaned against Fu Yucheng's arms, listening to his heartbeat, and suddenly said, "Let's go to the market tomorrow. It's better than being bored at home."
Fu Yucheng nodded: "Okay, I'll buy you some floral fabric and make you a new dress."
He stuffed a small bamboo wallet into her hand and said, "I made a woven wallet. It's stronger than cloth and more convenient for carrying money. Take it with you tomorrow."
Yun Tangyin touched the pattern on the wallet: "It looks better than the one I bought, but, your hands are just right, can you really go to the market?"
She snuggled into his arms and said, "It's okay. I'm here to protect you. It's okay no matter what."
Fu Yucheng hugged her tightly: "It's great to have you. I should be the one protecting you."
The bamboo wind chimes outside the window rang softly, as if accompanying the sweetness of the young couple. The moonlight poured in through the bamboo window, stretching their shadows very long, entangled into a ball of inextricable warmth.
