Chapter 158: It’s still good this way, safe and stable
"I'll do it. You're weak, don't get tired." Fu Yucheng picked up the hammer and stuffed an empty plate into Yun Tangyin's hand. "You're responsible for filling it, and I'm responsible for smashing it."
He cracked open a plump walnut and put it into her mouth. "Try it, the kernel is really plump."
Yun Tangyin chewed a walnut and smiled, "It's better than the one I bought last time. By the way, we're installing surveillance cameras tomorrow. Should I tell Old Zhang in advance so he can take care of it?"
Fu Yucheng cracked open another one: "No need to say it specifically, Uncle Zhang is always thoughtful. As for you, don't get up too early tomorrow morning, just leave the eggs to me."
He scooped walnut kernels onto the plate and said, "Eat more. I'll send some to Sister Li tomorrow."
As he was speaking, there was a knock on the door outside.
Fu Yucheng wiped his hands and went to open the door. He saw Director Wang holding a cloth bag. "I just got some cotton from the logistics department. It's for making cotton-padded jackets for the military families. Your wife is a good craftsman. Please help share some of it."
Yun Tangyin quickly stuffed a handful of walnuts into Director Wang's hand. "I just cracked them. Try them. The cotton is so white. The cotton-padded jacket made from it will definitely be warm."
Director Wang weighed the walnuts and said, "My wife's been complaining of back pain lately, so this would be a perfect tonic. Oh, and the guy who's installing the surveillance camera wants to borrow a ladder. Do you have one?"
Fu Yucheng pointed to the woodshed and said, "There's a bamboo ladder. I'll go get it."
He came out carrying a ladder and asked, "Send it directly to the message room tomorrow morning?"
"No need. The technicians will be here at 7 o'clock. It won't be too late to move then." Director Wang took the ladder. "You should rest early. We'll be busy tomorrow morning."
After seeing Director Wang off, Yun Tangyin spread quilts on the bed: "Put on this thick quilt. It's cold at night."
She stuffed a hot water bottle into Fu Yucheng's arms and said, "Hold this while you sleep, it will keep you warm."
Fu Yucheng pushed the hot water bottle towards her: "You are pregnant, you should be warmer."
He suddenly remembered something. "We'll be installing surveillance cameras tomorrow. Should we ask the technician to install one for us as well?"
Yun Tangyin shook her head: "No, there's enough at the front door, why would we need to install that in our house?"
She stuffed a walnut into his hand and said, "Eat it quickly, then go to sleep."
The next morning, Fu Yucheng had just finished washing up when he heard footsteps outside the yard.
Peeping through the crack in the door, I saw Zhou Desheng: "Brother Fu, the surveillance guy is here, do you want to go take a look?"
"I'll be right there." Fu Yucheng turned around and called Yun Tangyin, "Are you coming?"
Yun Tangyin was adding water to the pot: "No, I'll make some porridge and wait for you to come back."
She stuffed a steamed bun into his pocket and said, "It's something to eat on the way."
Fu Yucheng followed Zhou Desheng to the gate and saw two craftsmen installing iron boxes on the wall.
Old Zhang held up a wrench to help: "Can this thing really watch people?"
The master adjusted the lens: "Yes, it can be seen at night, but it is black and white."
He pointed in the direction of the warehouse and said, "After the installation is finished over there, go debug the main unit. You can see it in the communication room."
Mrs. Li came over holding the child and said, "This is really advanced. From now on, anyone who tries to steal will be caught."
Fu Yucheng looked at it and asked, "Master, how many days can this surveillance camera store the footage?" "Three days," the master said, wrapping tape around the cable. "It will automatically overwrite after three days. If anything happens, we can just record it in advance."
When I got home, Yun Tangyin was putting bowls of porridge on the table: "Eat quickly, the porridge is just ready."
She placed an egg in his bowl and said, "It's fresh."
Fu Yucheng sipped his porridge and said, "The surveillance system was installed pretty quickly. The technician said it will be ready for use by noon. By the way, Director Wang asked us to pick up the cotton this afternoon. Are you going?"

In the afternoon, Yun Tangyin walked towards the patrol booth with a cloth cover in her arms and saw Xiao Li hammering nails into the wall.
Seeing her coming over, he smiled and shouted: "Sister-in-law, this cloth cover is really beautiful, much better than the rags in the cafeteria."
Yun Tangyin stuffed an egg into his hand and said, "I just received it. I'm giving it to you as a supplement. Is the surveillance working?"
"It works," Xiao Li pointed to the reception room. "Uncle Zhang is watching it. He said he can clearly see the figure at the gate."
Yun Tangyin said, "By the way, the Logistics Department is distributing cotton. Did your sister-in-law go to get it?"
"Not yet. She's at home looking after the kids." Xiao Li looked into the distance. "I'll go there when I get off work. Can I bring you some by the way?"
"No, I can do it myself." Yun Tangyin glanced into the guardhouse, "It's time to add coal to the furnace. I'll go to the boiler room and take care of it for you."
"Don't bother sister-in-law, I can go by myself." Xiao Li stopped her, "You're pregnant, don't run back and forth."
Yun Tangyin smiled and nodded: "Okay, I'll go get the cotton."
In the Family Committee, Director Wang was distributing cotton to the military wives.
Seeing Yun Tangyin coming in, he smiled and called out, "Come quickly, I've left some good ones for you, they're very white."
Yun Tangyin took the cotton and stuffed it into the cloth bag. "Thank you, Director Wang. By the way, I heard they're going to pave a cement road in the compound?"
"Yes, we'll start construction next week," Director Wang stuffed a pair of insoles into her hands. "They're freshly made, for you to use as insoles."
She pointed out the window and said, "Look, the children are playing on the playground again. It's so lively."
Yun Tangyin looked out the window and saw a few children playing shuttlecock. She smiled and said, "It's still good this way. It's lively and fun."
She stuffed a cloth bag into Director Wang's hand and said, "Here are the freshly made insoles."
"You have a really good hand." Director Wang smiled as he touched the insole. "I'll make you a pair of tiger-head shoes when the baby is born."
When Yun Tangyin got home in the evening, she saw Fu Yucheng coming back with a paper bag.
When he opened it, he saw a piece of floral cloth: "What is this?"
"It was sent by the regiment headquarters. They said it was a reward for military families." Fu Yucheng placed the newspaper on the table. "I finished the mission this afternoon, and they said I can have half a day off."
He stuffed an apple into her hand and said, "Just bought it, it's sweet."
Yun Tangyin stuffed a piece of cotton into his hand and said, "I just got it. I'm going to make you a cotton-padded jacket for when it gets cold."
She added water to the pot and asked, "Making noodles tonight?"
"Okay," Fu Yucheng added coal to the stove, "I'll help you."
As he was speaking, there was a knock on the door outside.
Fu Yucheng opened the door and saw Mrs. Li holding the child. "My husband brought back some sweet potatoes for you two to try."
She glanced into the yard and asked, "What are you making for dinner? It smells so good."
"Make noodles," Yun Tangyin stuffed an apple into her hand, "I just bought it, for the child to eat."
She put some sweet potatoes in the pot, "Let's eat some together?"
"No, dinner is almost ready at home." Mrs. Li stuffed a candy into the child's hand. "Do you want to go to the market tomorrow? I want to buy some cloth."
"No," Yun Tangyin said with a smile, "I just bought it and I don't need it now."
Mrs. Li took the child and left.
Fu Yucheng added some noodles to the pot and stuffed a sweet potato into her hand. "It's freshly cooked and very sweet."
Yun Tangyin took a bite of the sweet potato and smiled, "It's so sweet. It's still good this way, peaceful and stable."
Fu Yucheng leaned into her arms and said, "It will be like this from now on, peaceful and safe."
The moonlight shone through the window, casting a warm and peaceful light on the two of them.
