Chapter 211 What Name Should I Give My Child?
At night, Yun Tangyin lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Fu Yucheng noticed her uneasiness and put his arm around her waist. "What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?"
Yun Tangyin shrank into his arms, her voice trembling slightly. "I'm not feeling uncomfortable, I'm just a little scared all of a sudden. Do you think giving birth will be painful? What if something happens to me when the baby is born?"
Fu Yucheng tightened his arms and kissed her forehead softly: "Don't let your imagination run wild. Doctor Wang in town is very experienced and will come to help you when the time comes. I will also stay with you. Our child is so well behaved, he will definitely be born smoothly."
He reached out and touched her belly, "Look, he's still moving. He must be telling you not to be afraid."
Yun Tangyin felt the fetal movement in her belly, and the uneasiness in her heart gradually dissipated.
She held Fu Yucheng's hand and whispered, "When the baby is born, what should we name him?"
Fu Yucheng thought for a moment and said, "If it's a boy, I'll name him Fu Nian'an. I hope he'll have a safe and happy life. If it's a girl, I'll name her Fu Niantang. I'll remember our whole family and everyone's thoughts for her."
Yun Tangyin smiled and nodded: "This is a great name, whether it's a boy or a girl, we can call them this."
The two of them snuggled together, listening to the chirping of insects outside the window, and slowly fell asleep.
The next morning, just after dawn, Fu Yucheng was awakened by a knock on the door.
He put on his clothes and opened the door, only to see Zhou Desheng standing at the door carrying a bundle of fresh bamboo. "Brother Fu, my mother said you built a grape trellis. These bamboos were cut from the mountain behind you. They're strong. I'll send you some. If it's not enough, I'll go cut more."
Fu Yucheng quickly took the bamboo and said, "Thank you so much. This bamboo will be just right for reinforcing the grape trellis."
Zhou Desheng smiled and waved his hand: "Don't be polite, we are all neighbors, it's only natural for us to help each other. Oh, by the way, my wife steamed some buns and asked me to bring you a few, they're fresh out of the pot and are still hot."
He took out a cloth bag from his pocket, which contained a few plump white buns that were still steaming.
Fu Yucheng took the steamed bun, his heart filled with warmth: "You are so thoughtful, come in and sit for a while and have a cup of hot tea."
Zhou Desheng shook his head: "No, I still have to go check on the fields. You guys should eat the steamed buns while they are hot." After that, he hurried away carrying his hoe.
Fu Yucheng walked into the house with the steamed buns, and Yun Tangyin just woke up. "Who is it?" Yun Tangyin asked, rubbing her eyes.
Fu Yucheng handed the steamed bun to her: "It's Desheng. He sent us bamboo and steamed buns. They're freshly steamed. Come and try them."
Yun Tangyin picked up a steamed bun and took a bite. It was soft, sweet, and full of wheat aroma. "It's delicious. It's even softer than the ones I steamed."
Jiang Jianhua and Fu Yuanshan also woke up. Fu Yucheng handed them each a steamed bun and said, "Desheng sent this. Have some."
Jiang Jianhua took the steamed bun, took a bite, and said with a smile: "Desheng's wife's cooking skills are really good. This steamed bun tastes better than the ones you buy in the city."
Fu Yuanshan nodded: "Yes, let's put the bamboo on the grape trellis later to reinforce it, so it will be stronger."
After breakfast, Fu Yucheng and Fu Yuanshan began to reinforce the grape trellis.
Jiang Jianhua and Yun Tangyin sat under the eaves, collecting the dried mushrooms and shepherd's purse that had been dried earlier and putting them in the bamboo basket woven by Fu Yuanshan.
"These mushrooms are really dry," Jiang Jianhua said, picking up a mushroom. "If you put a few of them in stews in winter, it will definitely be delicious."
Yun Tangyin smiled and said, "Yes, I'll send some to Aunt Zhang and the Desheng family so they can try it too."
Aunt Zhang came in carrying a bamboo basket filled with fresh strawberries, bright red and with an attractive luster.
"I picked some freshly ripe strawberries from the back mountain. I'm bringing some for you to try." Aunt Zhang handed the bamboo basket to Yun Tangyin. "Yinyin, you're pregnant. Eat more fruit to supplement your vitamins."
Yun Tangyin took the strawberries, picked up one and tasted it. It was sour, sweet, juicy, and full of fruity aroma. "So sweet! Aunt Zhang, how did you know there were strawberries in the back mountain?"
Aunt Zhang smiled and said, "I used to go to the back mountain to pick strawberries. They're the sweetest now. Let's go pick some more in a few days, dry them into candied form, and save them for the children as snacks in the winter."
Jiang Jianhua picked up a strawberry and took a bite. "It's delicious, sweeter than the strawberries I buy in the city. Aunt Zhang, if you go strawberry picking, take me with you. I want to try some too."
Aunt Zhang nodded: "Okay, let's go together tomorrow when the weather is good."
By noon, the grape trellis was finally reinforced.
Fu Yucheng wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at the sturdy grape trellis in front of him. He felt a sense of accomplishment in his heart: "That's good now. Even if there is a strong wind, I don't have to worry about it."
Fu Yuanshan smiled and said, "Yes, when the grapes grow next year, the racks will definitely be full."
Aunt Zhang stewed a pot of corn and pork ribs soup, and the aroma filled the entire yard.
"Come over and have some soup," Aunt Zhang called out to everyone. "The corn is sweet corn we bought in town. We stewed it all morning. It's soft and sweet. Come and try it."
Everyone sat around the table, drinking delicious pork rib soup and eating sweet corn, their hearts filled with warmth.
Jiang Jianhua took a sip of the soup and said with a smile, "Aunt Zhang, your cooking skills are really good. This soup is even more delicious than the ones in the city restaurants."
Aunt Zhang waved her hand: "Silly child, if you like, drink more. There is still plenty in the pot."
In the afternoon, the sun was warm and Jiang Jianhua accompanied Yun Tangyin for a walk by the stream.
The stream water is so clear that you can see the bottom. The willow trees on the bank have sprouted tender green branches, swaying in the wind.
"Look, the willow tree has sprouted. Spring has really come." Jiang Jianhua pointed to the willow branches.
Yun Tangyin nodded: "Yes, when the baby is born, we will be able to see the whole yard full of locust flowers, which will surely be very fragrant."
The two walked slowly along the stream, and suddenly saw a few little ducks swimming in the stream. They were furry and very cute.
"How cute," Yun Tangyin said with a smile, "When the child grows up, we can raise a few ducks and let him play with the ducklings."
Jiang Jianhua nodded: "Okay, then let the children follow Xiaolan and the others and chase ducks in the yard. It will definitely be lively."
When they returned home, Fu Yucheng and Fu Yuanshan were installing wheels on the cradle.
"You're back," Fu Yucheng said with a smile, looking up. "We bought these wheels in town. They're smooth and easy to push with the child lying in them."
Jiang Jianhua walked over and touched the wheels of the cradle: "That's great! This way the child can bask in the sun in the yard."
In the evening, the setting sun dyed the locust courtyard a warm red.
Fu Yucheng lit a fire in the yard and prepared to cook sweet potato porridge.
Jiang Jianhua and Yun Tangyin sat under the eaves, sewing small clothes for the child.
Aunt Zhang was tidying up the yard and collecting the dried radishes.
Yun Tangyin looked at the warm scene in front of her, touched her belly, and her heart was full of anticipation.
She knew that her child would be born soon, and then the courtyard would be even more lively and full of laughter.
